Summary: A great book!
Review: I loved it! There are too few books set in this time period, which makes this story a MUST read. There is a repetitive sameness to the stories and settings in romance lately and this book is truly different. There's a strong hero and heroine, and the writing is superbly rich and evocative. This book is treat!

Summary: Wonderful!
Review: I loved this book. The writing was moving and evocative, the characters alive and very, very real. Yes, this is a bit different than the usual Medeiros book, but it's every bit as lush and compelling as her other works. Fabulous.

Summary: Dissappointment from Teresa
Review: I have read all of Teresa's books, and I must say that this was a dissappoint. She usually is so funny and poignant, but this story was boring. Of course, I'm not too upset, since this WAS her first book.

By the time I was finished, I was thoroughly irritated with the love/hate relationship between Conn and Gelina. As Gelina says,"I think I love you almost as much as I hate you." This gets in the way of the development of the story a great deal. Also, the love scenes were a little too graphic and "crude" for my taste; totally unlike Teresa's other books. At the end of the book, I was still wondering what exactly was going on; I really didn't understand it.

Still, although I wouldn't recommend "Lady Of Conquest", I WOULD recommend Teresa Medeiros. She really is a wonderful author, with a hilarious sense of humor. Her other books are excellent reads, especially "Nobody's Darling." If you think you wouldn't like "Lady", or tried it and was disappointed, give her other books a chance. I think you'll find them much better.

Summary: This was such a disappointment!
Review: After scanning prior reviews I can't believe we read the same book! I love Teresa Medeiros but if this was the first of her work I had read I probably wouldn't have read any more. The main characters are totally unredeaming! She sheds her vows of loyalty and undying devotion like she sheds clothing. I hate stories of faithless women. She pledges herself to Conn, betrays her brother, when the brother appears again, she betrays Conn, when she's sent back she forgets the brother etc. Conn is no better. He blames her for everything without explanation or trusting her in any way (not that she's trustworthy). Surely this isn't considered a romance! Maybe it got better, I couldn't finish the book. I totally dislike almost all the characters.

Summary: Don't pick this up unless you have a lot of time!
Review: I didn't expect to like this book that much. If you read enough of this genre you discover that there are only so many ways to tell the same love story. I grabbed this book on my way to get the oil changed in my car, expecting to have a long boring wait. As it turned out I didn't get a chance to start reading until I got home, which was a good thing. I read it cover to cover in one sitting.

Not having done extensive research on this particular time period myself, I cannot attest to the accuracy of the setting. However it was one of the most well written books I've read in a while. I've been reading romance for years and am well past the time where the love scenes actually leave me breathless, but these did.

Summary: A story that stays with you
Review: This was a very entertaining read. There may have been some holes in the story as far as weather and setting, but the people in the story were wonderful and full character. Teresa Medeiros is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors.

Summary: I loved this book!
Review: Previously my favorite Teresa Medeiros book was "Breath of Magic", but now I have a new one... and this is her first book?!!! Everything was great, setting, characters, etc. etc.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A magnificent historical
Review: I was hesitant to buy this book when I realized it was a reprint from 1989, but boy am I glad I did! I'd read all of Medeiros's most recent books and this one delivered on their promise and then some. Conn and Gelina were very passionate, both in their loving and their warring, but I found that refreshing because so many romance seem stilted and politically correct these days. I fell in love with these characters and with their story! I highly recommend it.

Summary: Passionate and wonderful!
Review: I loved this book! I knew it was one of Medieros's earlier efforts so I wasn't sure what to expect, but I found it filled with all of the qualities I've loved about her newer books--delightful humor, whimsy, passion and a romance that is truly for the ages. It's one of my favorite books of the year!

Summary: As usual, this author writes a fantastic romance
Review: Defeating ones enemy in battle seems to be a simple task for Conn of the Hundred Battles and his loyal men, the Fianna, a fierce warrior group of big, tough males. As Conn becomes the High King of Ireland, ruling over the many clans, a threat arises from nowhere. Someone has defeated several of Conn's best knights in combat.

Conn knows that he must defeat this new threat by himself if he is to keep his honor and consequently continue to rule the land. However, he is shocked when his deadly, invincible opponent turns out to be the beautiful Gelina O'Monaghan, a woman with a quest. She has vowed to destroy the individual responsible for ruining her family--Conn. As they duel with swords, they begin to fall in love. However, love seems doomed since he is her sworn enemy and neither trusts the other one.

LADY OF CONQUEST will conquer the most discriminating of Camelot fans with its fast-paced, action-packed, and Arthurian-like story line. Conn is a character of epic proportions and Gelina is an intrepid individual who Xena would not mind following. The secondary cast, especially the Fianna warriors, add depth to a Medieval romance whose touch of enchantment turns it into one of the most enchanting tales of the year and makes Teresa Medeiros everyone's darling.
