Summary: Breathtaking!! A powerful story of love and betrayal
Review: I couldn't put this one down. This is the first time I've read Teresa Medeiros, and it won't be the last!!Ms Medeiros takes you deep into the story with her captivating use of words. You feel every emotion the characters go through. This story left me breathless.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: YOU WILL NOT WANT TO PUT IT DOWN
Review: I LOVE A ROMANCE WITH HUMOR AND ADVENTURE THAT CAN KEEP ME ON EDGE AND THIS WAS IT. PERFECT TOUCH TO ADD A HUMOROUS CHARACTER LIKE NIMBUS THE DWARF, WITH HIM IT MADE THE BOOK ALL THE MORE INTERESTING. THE DRAMA AS WELL IS WHAT KEPT ME TURNING THE PAGES SO I WOULD STOP CRYING. SO FAR I HAVE READ CHARMING THE PRINCE AND LADY OF CONQUEST BY MEDEIROS AND SHE ONLY KEEPS GETTING BETTER. I NEVER READ A BOOK TWICE BUT THIS ONE I WILL. I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO GETTING MY HANDS ON ALL HER OTHER WORK PAST AND FUTURE.

Summary: What went wrong ?
Review: Lady of Conquest starts off well but about a quarter way through the storyline goes to pot.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent!
Review: What more could you want in a novel? Romance, adventure, revenge, intrigue, a mouthy dwarf, and really cool swordplay. Reading "Lady of Conquest" was like reading "Beowulf" except that it was totally enjoyable. Very nicely done.

Summary: Confusing and very frustrating at times
Review: Really, the only character I truly liked and cared for was Nimbus, and HE got killed off. While I understand this was to work a big twist in the storyline it was one that did not add too much sense to the plot. Why on earth would Conn have believed Gelina was responsible for, capable of, the little jester's death when Conn was supposed to be so in love with her, and he had obviously seen how much the girl clearly loved Nimbus? And why would he think she would kill the dwarf off on her ownwedding day? When it was obvious to Conn that she was so in love with him? With more insight into the characters' heads and feelings maybe this could have been more clearly laid out for the reader, and better organized, but I just found it confusing, emotionally disturbing, and a little far-fetched. It did not seem that these two characters really loved eachother, or really knew what love is. However, I do think Teresa is an excellent novelist. Her style has wit and a freshness to it in her other books. It's good that Lady of Conquest was her first book, because she has gone on to write much better storylines. It can be said that we can learn from our mistakes.

Summary: I FOUND THE HISTORICAL REFERENCES TROUBLING.
Review: MS. MEDEIROS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE AUTHORS. HER BOOKS ARE ALWAYS SO FUNNY. I LOVE THAT. I LIKE A STORY WITH SWORD WIELDING WOMEN ALSO. BUT I FOUND REFERENCES TO FEATHER MATTRESSES , PILLOWS AND WOODEN FLOORS TROUBLING. SHE GIVES NO DATE REFERENCE AT THE BEGINING OF EACH CHAPTER. BUT SHE STATED IN HER AUTHOR'S NOTE THAT CONN EXISTED 1000 YEARS BEFORE MALORY IMMORTALIZED ARTHUR. IN HER EPILOGUE SHE STATED THAT THE FIANNA WERE ANNILATED ABOUT 280 AD. THAT IS LONG BEFORE THE CONQUERER. WERE THE IRISH MORE CIVILIZED THAN THE BRITISH AND ALREADY HAD THESE COMFORTS LONG BEFORE THE BRITISH? PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG. I KNOW THIS WAS HER FIRST NOVEL. BUT I THINK IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPRINTED WITH A DISCLAIMER. I DO PREFER HISTORICAL CORRECTNESS IN MY HISTORICAL NOVELS.

Summary: Read it
Review: I loved this book. Teresa Medeiros toys with your emotions. And I loved that. But the part with Nimbus was really sad. Whoever doesn't like this doesn't know the meaning of good writing.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Captivatingly emotional
Review: The constant emotional battle betwwen the hero and heroine is truly captivating. Again Ms. Medeiros lures her reader into a web of deceit and denial, love and hatred, and pasion and stubborness. The mistrust between the two main characters is all too real and the author's style captures it poignantly. Nimbus, the court jester, is hysterical, too. A must read for any fan of this era of historical romance!

Summary: A very good love story!
Review: When I first bought this book I didn't think that I was going to like it. This story if full of mixed emotions. Conn is dominant and powerfull and Gelina is too! Thier love is unique in every way. Conn's misjudgement of Gelina is realistic. I believe that if anyone finds themselves in the same situation probably they would have reacted the same way. I loved it when one of the characters said " I know the question we didn't ask, Gelina" Because all through the book nobody even cares to ask her anything. They just judged her without a backward glance. And, isn't it just like that in the real world??

The only thing that I didn't like overly much was the ending. I find that Medeiros could have extended the book so it had an epilogue, that way we could have known how happy they lived after their traumatic love story.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Disappointed
Review: Started off enjoying this book, kept waiting for it to get better, but kept getting worse. The storyline just seemed to disintegrate, like the author was grasping at straws or in a hurry to finish a book she really had no ending for.

When Conn turns on Gelina on their wedding day (isn't he supposed to love this woman?)for supposedly killing Nimbus (someone she truly cared for and was her friend), without so much as a why or explantion of motive, is the time I really got disgusted with the book. From then on, bad became worse and the ending finally killed what could have been a very good story.

I can't see how anyone can rate this book with 5 stars - 2 is being overly generous.
