Summary: Really enjoyable
Review: I read this book in a couple of evenings. It grabbed my attention immediately. I particularly enjoyed the he said/she said aspect of the book. It was good to hear both points of view as the relationship developed. I found that this way of writing gave the novel an added depth that it might have lacked otherwise.

I particularly liked the character of Amy. She was very realistic. I could relate to her her relationship with her mother and her best friend. The author really showed her as a full-fledged human being. Jack was a bit shallow, and he did some things I thought were really rotten, but I found that true to life - I know alot of guys like him, who do immature things, but don't really mean to hurt people. I particularly liked his relationship with his best friend, Matt.

There were times I wondered what these two people were doing together. By the end, I did buy it, even though the conclusion of the novel was a bit cliched. I also have to say that the Jack/Matt friendship could have been fleshed out a bit.

Some of the events that took place in the book were absolutely hilarious!! It's the first book that made me laugh out loud in a long time. I found the novel believeable, if a bit shallow at times (you won't find much in the way of insights into relationships here; this is a light-hearted beach read). I highly reccommend this book for anyone looking for a light read.

Summary: A Hilarious Page-Turner!!
Review: *Come Together* is a hilarious, engaging page-turner. This boy-meets-girl story is cleverly told by both the male and female perspectives, in alternating chapters, entitled, appropriately, "Jack" and "Amy." The two characters' perspectives are written by a writer of the corresponding sex: Josie Lloyd wrote the Amy parts, and Emlyn Rees (who became Lloyd's real-life love during the writing of the novel) wrote the Jack portions.

Although there are two different authors with two very different perspectives on the occurences in the novel, the authors' tones match exactly, and the story never feels like its been interrupted with the change of narrator. On the contrary, the differing viewpoints inject more drama and humour to the events in the book, and will make you even more curious to see what the other character was thinking when a certain event happened to both of them, and how the other character will respond to the latest interaction.

We meet Jack first. We find out that he is a handsome, 27 year- old painter living in his friend Matt's flat in London. We also soon find out that he is a seasoned Lothario who has had one serious relationship, and not much luck with women since (outside the bedroom, anyway. Inside the bedroom, he's doing very well, thank you. But lately, that hasn't felt like enough. Although his previous relationship ended badly, and his heart still bears some bruises, he can't help but sometimes wonder what it would be like to be in a good, solid relationship again.). Jack lives with his equally handsome 'best mate,' Matt, a successful City lawyer. Lucky for Jack, Matt has a great apartment, complete with an art studio, which he doesn't mind letting Jack stay in for a reasonable rent, a closet-full of nice clothes which he lets Jack borrow whenever he wants/needs to, and a fabulous vintage car, which Jack can drive at will. Jack pays the rent by working part-time in an art gallery 3 days a week, but there isn't much left over after buying art supplies and beer at the local pub. He is embarrassed about this, and sometimes gives off the impression that all of said stuff is his, and that he has been able to afford said lifestyle from successfully selling his paintings. If Jack were asked: "Girl sitting at the end of the Bar," or "Girlfriend," chances are he would choose the former. But this is before he meets Amy. After he meets her, all bets are off. Well, maybe anyway.... he doesn't quite know *what* to do with himself when he meets her. But he knows he likes what he sees.

When we meet Amy, we find that she is a pretty 25-year-old who is just sort of coasting through temping jobs, although she has dreams of being in fashion design... someday. She hasn't had sex in six months, as she has decided that unless the 'Bloke' is worth something in the long haul, it's just not worth her time to get involved. She has a thing for Matt (Jack's roommate), and she wonders if he might be The One. That is, until she meets Jack, and ends up chatting the night away with him in drunken comfort at Matt's birthday party. The night ends platonically, but both Jack and Amy feel something, and start wondering about the other, and revel at how comfortable and enjoyable their conversation and time together was.

There are many other complications, however, which need to be dealt with before they can embark on a relationship. For example, Jack has a thing for enjoying painting scantily clad (ok, naked) women in his studio that he hopes to sleep with someday. And Amy needs to know that she has met a man she can trust. This is only the tip of the iceberg, as more and more obstacles, both potential and real, come along to possibly tear them asunder and present any further commitment. It is a fun ride, and it will keep you turning the pages way past your bedtime to see what happens next. (Well, it did me anyway :)).

This book is a breezy, light, entertaining read, with an interesting format and a page-turning pace. The insights are totally right on the mark, and the book has a way of telling each situation how it really feels for the person in it, without all the pretense of projection and the self-conscious filtering our emotions go through before they meet even the closest of our friends. It is distilled, Real, Natural humour, and British at that (the book is set in London). If you are looking for a clever, fun, Laugh Out Loud romantic comedy, I highly recommend this book. Speaking of romantic comedies, this book would make a great movie, along the lines of, say, Bridget Jones' Diary.

Summary: This is the best book!
Review: I loved this book. I started reading it on a plane on my way to board a cruise. I didn't put it down until I was done (about 1/2 way through the cruise). I loved the alternating chapters of 'he said, she said'. I thought it was very creative and unlike any book I've read in the past. The chapter set-up didn't confuse me at all.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves the 'Chick Lit' genre.
There is a sequel to this book, 'Come Again'. It is about the friends of the two main characters in 'Come Together' preparing for their special day. I didn't get past the 1st chapter...didn't like it.

Summary: LOVED this book!
Review: This book is so amazingly funny and clever, it's a must read for anyone out in the dreaded dating pool right now. It's told from a he-said/she-said perspective (this book has both a male and female author switching off chapters), and that aspect of it makes it so insightful and laughable to compare what the woman thinks of life and love to the man. The hip British setting gives it a Bridget Jones flair with the main female character always critiquing herself, her weight, her love life, etc. I was in a coffee shop one day while reading this book, and I literally laughed out loud so much so, that someone at the next table said, "Wow, that must be a really great book, you have been smiling the whole time you've been here." I can't say enough about it. When it was over, I wished it wasn't, and ever since I have searched for a book that compares to no avail. READ IT, you will be on the floor.

Summary: Upbeat, Zany, and Incredibly Sweet
Review: Jack is treading water in life, working part-time in a gallery and spending his free time attempting to lift his fledgling art career off the ground. Amy meets him at his roommate's birthday party & incredibly, they seem to hit it off. The beginning is a comedy of errors,w/ Amy dramatizing the will-he-call-well-sure-he'll-call-and-if-he-doesn't-I'll-go-crazy situation & Jack disecting the same aspect. You know they'll end up falling in love, but the journey just sweeps you along and you forget for endless moments on end and wonder, what's going to happen...? I absolutely LOVED the fresh perspective both characters brought to the book. They were both incredibly sweet, realistic people, and the he said/she said aspect, I must confess, I thought was going to be cheesy. But it wasn't. The styles of these two authors fit together so nicely, it's almost impossible to tell that two seperate people are writing the book. The man's aspect was a lovely idea, since it's always a curiosity as to what, exactly, men are thinking and feeling in key relationship moments. Amy is great. Amy is you and me. Jack was also a wonderful character. He was emotional and humorous and unapologetic right up until he royally screws up. (which we knew he would, of course.) Read this book. It'll make you smile. :)

Summary: Stupid ending spoils this otherwise great book
Review: It's one of those books that you can't put down until you reached the very last page.

But there's one problem -and it's on that last page. Ending spoils this very enjoyable book. It's predictable, cliche, rushed. The whole argument between Jack and Amy is stupid coz it's cleraly not his fault and yet everybody is blaming him and thinking breakup is a must.

So, first 250 pages - page turner, gret fun.
Last 30 pages - romance novel disaster.

Summary: EXCELLENT BOOK!!!
Review: I saw the movie version a year ago on the Love Stories channel, and it was so good! I found the book version a week ago, and finsihed it in one night! I love the fact that it tells the story from two points of view. I usually take my books to a used bookstore after reading them, but this one is staying on my shelf. I KNOW I will read it again!

Summary: Come together, Lushly
Review: Im 17 years only, and i am very picky about the books that i enjoy. But 'Come Together' was a great book, i couldn't put it down.
I have read 3 books by these author's and i have found that each book is just as good as the last.
The story line was basic yet it had a flow that made it very interesting, and in some places i was cracking up, as there is quite a bit of humor in the book.
A great book, well worth reading!!

Summary: Hysterically entertaining
Review: I read this book and it's sequel Come Again in three days because I simply could not put it down! I originally picked Come Together up simply because I was in Belgium (about to sit on the train for several hours) and the number of books written in English were few and far between. I loved the first one so much I went on a hunt for the sequel and finished both books before my trip was over! The way the story is told really adds an element of suspense because you want to see the two main characters end up together (you are able to read about the intentions behind their actions) but can also see how their actions are being interpreted by the other person. It's a great story and will keep you laughing and entertained, no matter how uncomfortable your train seats are or how loud the child behind you is screaming! If you like the first one, you must read Come Again.

Summary: the authors got it exactly right
Review: This book is co-written by one male and one female author, and the book also switches voices of the male and female protagonists, presenting both views of the same relationship. Jack and Amy come together quite unexpectedly -- 27-year-old Jack has been chasing women everywhere, but especially Sally McCullen, the model he has been painting in the nude for his pseudo-career as an artist. Meanwhile 25-year-old Amy has been temping ever since university and more or less given up on her dream to be a fashion designer.

The two meet at Matt's birthday party (Jack's flatmate). Their relationship starts like most real relationships do, under a chance meeting at a mutual friend's party, and undergoes all the typical things real people experience ---- not wanting to say "I Love You" for fear of ruining it, jealousy of attractive friends of the opposite sex, lying about your success to your loved one .....

You will see parts of yourself and everyone you know in Jack and Amy. You will laugh out loud at some of the more hysterical bits but in the end, you will love how the authors are just so dead-on about how it really is for all of us poor schlubs just trying to make it in the world as we look for the right person for us.
