Rating: Summary: One of the smartest books I've read all summer! Review: This book was simply hilarious ... people were giving me wierd looks on the beach as I laughed out loud! Lloyd and Rees totally capture all the paranoia and insecurities of dating in the 90's --- I challenge anyone in the twenty-something age bracket to say they can't relate! This book was just plain fun!
Rating: Summary: AMAZING book! Review: This book was wonderful! Everything you've heard about it was true. This is definitely the most entertaining book I've read in a long time, but that's not to say it was stupid. This was a very smart book, with great wit and humour. I laughed outloud repeatedly....thankfully I was home alone. I totally reccomend it....unless you don't LIKE good books...?
Rating: Summary: Hilarious, captivating! Must read! Review: This is a great summer read and you won't regret buying it. It is witty and realistic. I found myself laughing aloud everywhere I took it and I was extremely disappointed when I read the last page. I wanted it to last longer!
Rating: Summary: Shallow and slow Review: This book was so disappointing. I had visions of another Bridget Jones Diary. All the characters were interested in was getting pissed (drunk), getting shagged (laid), and smoking fags (cigarettes). They were all so shallow that you don't ever come to care about them. The happy ending consists of the last page and a half. Very disappointing.
Rating: Summary: Funny, witty, realistic Review: I loved that this book was told from both points of view. The switch offs seemed to be at all the right places. I think this was hysterical and even had to read a few passages out loud to my fiance. This was all so true to life, these are the things that end up happening (well, maybe not all of them (ahem) but a lot of them) when relationships are starting out. I could realte to so many of the goofy things Amy does, and based on my knowledge of men, it seems that Jack's thought processes are pretty true to life. This was a great book!
Rating: Summary: This is the best book I have read in ages!! Review: This is the wittiest, most clever, most hilarious "relationship" book I have ever read. In addition to the hysterical British humor, the he said/she said alternating chapters provide a great point/counter point of how each character feels about the same situation. I cannot recommend this book highly enough!
Rating: Summary: I love this book!!! Review: I'm going to stand on the corner and hand out copies. This book is laugh out loud hilarious. I think I'm going to have to read it twice just to make sure I didn't miss any of this great British wit. Saying I recommend this book is not even strong enough. I demand you read this book and pass it on!
Rating: Summary: Comedic Modern Day Tale of Romance Review: I liked this book so much because Jack and Amy are so much like many of my friends. It is a wonder in this day that anyone is even able to pull it together to get married. That is why this book is so funny. We are all afraid of ending up alone but the trip to coupledom isn't an easy one. I really enjoyed the dueling male and female perspectives; they were very honest and full of heartful feeling.
Rating: Summary: Oprah should have chosen this light summer jewel! Review: When I turned the final page of Come Together, I let out a disappointed sigh. My husband asked me what was wrong and I said, "I finished the book." I enjoyed the characters and story so much that I didn't want to let them go. I ordered the book after having read an interesting review in People. It was one of those rare books that one wants to read cover to cover, in one sitting! I couldn't put it down. I thought the unique style of two separate authors writing from their own gender perspective in reguards to their relationship was interesting and often times hysterical. It is a wonderful light read. I don't know whether the Jacks of the world would enjoy it, but I certainly did.
Rating: Summary: A great story- with a happy, REAL ending! Review: "Come Together" was truly, a great summer read. Sure, parts of it are a bit "racy" for lack of a better word-but what a fun story! The greatest part about it- well, almost the greatest part- is the idea that as each chapter changes, you are hearning it from two different points of view- very clever. I was sorry when it ended... Ok, now for the greatest part- the book is written by a male and female-and they switched chapters while writing-she wrote the "girl" part, he, in turn, the "male" part.
