Rating: Summary: One of a Kind Review: I never thought I would be reading this kind of book ... one of those romatic novels, one of those love stories with people near my age ... but it intrigued me ... so I just had to check it out. It was the best move I've made. This book gives a magic of its own, sharing their worlds with us, what they think and feel about everything. The pain, the laughter, the embarrassment that Jack and Amy went through. As I read along, I laugh, I sigh, I frown, I chuckle, it is not a book that you just read ... its a book you live by. Especially the minor characters ... Matt and H ... I love them! :) :) They are great supporting characters to help Jack and Amy on their quest to each other. Its only fiction, but I do dream of having a relationship like Jack and Amy does ...
Rating: Summary: I loved this honest original portrayal of a relationship Review: This is a very entertaining fun occasionally poignant portrayal of a relationship between two twenty somethings. The setup of having chapters alternate from the man's point of view and then the woman's and actually having a male author write the male's and vice versa worked well.
Rating: Summary: AWESOME BOOK! Review: I loved the book, it was a page turnover and very well written. I read it twice in one week. I can relate to so much of Amy and Jack's feelings.
Rating: Summary: Bravo! Review: Hey girls ... if you loved Bridget's diary and the short stories of hunting & fishing, you'll love this one. Loved it! Wished there was more just like it.
Rating: Summary: Not suitable for anyone over 25 Review: If you're over 25 and have ever been kissed then steer clear of this juvenile piece of doodling. This reads with all the self-conscious delusion of a teenager's unlocked diary. The characters are - in spite of pained efforts towards 'amiable' and 'quirky' - unlikeable and unconvincing. Their romance is as sexy and compelling as the instructions on a microwave oven. I couldn't help hoping they would both drown in the slobber of their snogging. Though Rees writes well (with Amis pretentions) he should ditch the girlfriend. She will never be Anais Nin to his Henry Miller. In fact, she won't even be Sid Little to his Eddie Large. Her efforts to make us fall for her character just don't work - it is all so contrived that you feel you're witnessing the design process of a Renault Clio ad (and didn't you always wish Nicole would wrap her hatchback round a tree?). For sheer literary merit you'd do better to buy a copy of Hello!.
Rating: Summary: A light and easy read Review: When i first began this book, i didn't like it very much. But as I read more of it, I couldn't put it down. The plot is not complex, the characters not hard to identify with. If you're looking for a light, romantic comedy, this is the one for you. If you're looking for a challenging book with a plot and seriousness, this is not recommended. A good beach book, nothing more, nothing less.
Rating: Summary: cheap thrills, no twists Review: This was a page turner. That's the best thing I can say with sincerity. Why all the oral sex scenes? Who knows. An editor would have been an interesting plus. Also the book jacket is ghastly, but I did get to the last page, so all in all not terrible.
Rating: Summary: A creative approach to modern relationship Review: I liked the idea of alternating narrators with the passing of each chapter. This is a good summer read and unfortunately nothing more. If you have nothing else better to do and would like to have a an occasional smile and smirk then read this book. However, if you are looking for something to remember, this is not your best choice. The characters are a bit shallow, the plot is mediocre and the relationship described is nothing out of the ordinary, just like this book.
Rating: Summary: great story! Review: I voed this book...I just felt like amy, and I feel that Jack is as well described....I just red it in 24 hours...and it was amazing!...I liked everyone of the chapters...nothing to do with Bridget Jones...this is ( I hope) real life!
Rating: Summary: Completely compelling book! Review: This book is so realistic of the 20something age group. It made me laugh, cry, and cheer Jack and Amy on. I didn't want the book to end when I came to the last page. I would love to read a follow up on Jack and Amy.
