Summary: Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry is a vivid story about a family
Review: "Roll of Thunder,Hear My Cry" is a vivid story about a family whose warm ties to each other and their land, help them survive in the raciest society that they live in. It takes the events of one turbulent year, the year of the terrible, and the burnings, the year in which Tj almost got killed, the year that white girl humilates Cassie, because she is black. Cassie learns that having a place of their own is the Logan's family's lifeblood. The land is so important to Cassies family, because it gives them their courage, and pride, and it is what makes them so different. This story centers on the efforts of the Logan family to hold onto their economic freedom that they have gained since the Civil War. This story is told by nine year old Cassie Logan and focuse on her family's conflict in dealing with a white community that does not want to accept African-Americans as equals. This novel also shows the inner rewards of black pride, independence, and love. It is very hard to believe that this is a fiction story, because of the autobiographical way Taylor writes it. Taylor writes with a sense of pride and a respect for humanity. "Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry" is truly a work of exemplary literature.

Summary: I kind of thought this book was boring.
Review: I thought that the book, Roll Of Thunder Hear My Cry, was an okay book. I liked how the book made me see how cruel the white people were to the blacks, and I also liked how Cassie stood up for herself whenever Lillian Jean would be rude to her. Usually when I really like a book, I don't want it to ever end, but I couldn't wait to be done with this one because it bored me with a lot of unecessary, yet I would recomend this book because it teaches you a lot about racism.

Summary: Roll of Thunder, Hear my Cry: a good book.
Review: A good book especially for younger readers. The theme, rascim, is interesting and the main character, Cassie Logan will gain your sympathy. We think that it is a shame that the author did not work out the characters so well. However, this book is nice to read and therefore we would recommand it to you. Yours sincerely, Annemarieke and Jantine

Summary: A book I'll definately read again...
Review: I liked this book because it clearly showed the relations between black and white people in the 1930's. I think Mildred D. Taylor did a very good job in portraying how life in those days was for a black family. This is also a book from whih we can learn a lot about racial prejudice nowadays. It is not my favourite book of all time, but it was definately worth reading.

Summary: True colours are beautiful like a rainbow
Review: It was really an interesting book. We cannot believe people treat each other like this. It makes us angry. Everybody has its own colour and their is no difference between these colours. We should respect people for who they are. Your true colours are beautiful like a rainbow. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. We enjoyed reading this book.

Summary: great book!!!
Review: I really liked the book, when I first started reading the book I didn't think I'd like it. The author writes very lifely about the events that are happening. While reading the book I often thought and felt as if I was standing and walking along with the characters in the book. I will surely read the other books of her, I'm sure they are as good as this one. She writes very good about all the things that are happening, she is telling them so clearly and without any doubt, almost as if she was there at that same moment. With no doubt in my mind, I would recommended it to anybody!!! If you don't read it you will surly be missing something!!! So do read it you all, you won't regret it!

Summary: A powerful, heart-taking, and cultural novel
Review: I had to read this novel for my literature course. When I read the title, I already wanted to read it. When I past the first chapters I could easily lay the novel away to do something else, but when I reached the middle I could not distance myself from the novel. I had to finish it. The novel made me laugh and cry. It made me feel angry and ashamed. It made me think about the current situation and equal rights. This novel gave me so much to think about, that I am grateful for reading it. It is not only a great novel to read, but holds a lot of historical value as well. I would recommend this novel to everyone !!

Summary: We feel asleep reading this book!!!!!!!
Review: The beginning of the book is very boring. Extremely long descriptions and not a lot of action. But after a while when you read further and you get into the story it gets better. It describes well how the black people in the US felt shortly after their liberation. It is well written but sometimes very boring. The theme is nice but all the books about this subject are more or less the same. This is a book for young adults, and you notice that. For people who are a bit older, like we are, it's too dull. All in all it gives a good picture on how the differences were between the black people and the white people in those days.
