Summary: finding out how the world is devided in black and white
Review: Roll of thunder, hear my cry is an intriging book written for children of 9 to 12. Topic is the discrimination of blacks in a community in which all the rules and regulations are made by white people. The children that play the mainroles in the book are unaware of the fact that white people have a different status than they have. The books follows the path of the children Logan that will lead them to understand that white people have more privileges than black people in this world. The children experience their own difficulties and problems with this knowledge. They learn how to be a good black person in order to be able to live with whites. But they don't like it.

Summary: Great Book, very interesting
Review: The story is set in the 1930's in Mississippi and that is a place that is hard for a black child to grow up in. The story centres on the Logan family, a black family that is struggling to survive in the 1930's. A nine-year-old of the Logan family, Cassie, tells the story. The Logan family has land of its own which means that they are very lucky because in that time most people didn't have land of their own, they used land of someone else and had to pay them for it. The land hadn't always been Logan land, Cassie's grandpa had bought it during Reconstruction and the son of the former owner is trying to get it back. This is only one of the many problems in the book but it is one of the biggest. Most of the problems in the book have something to do with the fact that the Logan family aren't going to give up their land. I really liked the character Cassie in this book. I especially began to like her when she made a fight with the shopkeeper in Strawberry, she was really shocked when she was called a "Ni**er". Cassie grows up together with her three brothers, Little Man, Stacey and Christopher-John, they do many things together and never let one of them do anything by themselves, they support each other always. I am not going to tell you more about it's contents because I think that you have to read the book yourself because only then you will know what I am talking about. You would then see for yourself what a fantastic book this is. When I had read the Author's Note I became really curious about the rest of the book. I liked the way the author, Mildred D. Taylor had written her first part. It didn't take me a long time to read the book because it was very interesting. I had learned about that time in Mississippi during my history lessons, but I had never read a book about it. Now that I have read about it I would also like to read the sequels "Let the Circle Be Unbroken" and "The Road to Memphis" because I am curious what would happen after this book: would the Logan family be able to keep their land?

Summary: A powerful novel
Review: After reading this book as a reading assignment, I found out how life was in the 30s' for African Americans. This is a perfect work of Historical fiction which will grip you in it's fist till the last page. The last two chapters will make you cry.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: An Interesting Tale Including Discrimination and Racism
Review: Reading this book as a class assignment was all it was, until I was pushed into liking it with my own will by it's fantastic language and story line. Black against White brought an interesting topic for young Cassie Logan to take charge of. Mr. Morisson and his "Roll of Thunder" voice really brung up a doubtful question to my class's minds. Never did I nor my class know that Blacks went through such drastic hardships in their lives and how no matter what happened, never gave up. Mildred Taylor has done an outstanding job to this book for it is highly intriguing.

Summary: THIS WAS A GREAT BOOK!
Review: This boook is very true to history. It tells thee story of a young girl named Cassie who is faced with many racial people. She handles it though and as turns out.... well you'll have to read it for yourself to find out. I did a book report on this book and I really think that after it some people went out and read the book. It was truley a wonderful story.

Summary: It is an easy book to read and it is ok.
Review: I had to read 'Roll of Thunder, Hear my Cry'for my literature course at school. It was a very simple book to read. The language was simple and I could understand Cassie. I don't particularly like books like this. It is a book for children as far as I'm concerned. But i kind of liked it. Youcan read in this book how horrible the lives of black people were in the earlier days, and maybe still are at some places. I would recommend this book to children and young adults, but not for people over 15 years old.

Summary: A great book, a great story!!!!
Review: I really loved reading this book. It's a great story, kind of sad. It's not the best book I've ever read, but I really can recommend reading it. It isn't difficult to read. I read it in one breath. Once you start reading it, you just can't stop and want to know all about what happens to the family Logan.

Summary: it was an oke book to read, not too difficult
Review: I thought of it as a book which wasn't too hard to read.I got through it quite easily and fast. It was amazing and sometimes I got really angry of the people who discriminated the Logans. You can almost feel the way they did, because of the way Cassie described things. It was a very realistic novel, but I wouldn't pick it out myself if I had the choice. I really thought it was good of the Logan children to take revenge on the school bus. I probably would have done the same thing.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A story about a struggling colored family.
Review: This book is the best book about racism I've ever read so far. It really makes you think the way we treat each others even in the society today. I recomment it to everyone.
