Summary: Wonderful classroom literature for teaching the 1930s in MS
Review: Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry is about one family's struggle to survive during a time of extreme racial conflict and segregation. The story takes place in rurual Mississippi in the 1930s. The Logans are the central characters of the story and endure many hardships. This is the perfect literature for teaching 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th graders about the racial discrimination and cruelty that black families faced. A thematic unit can be made using this novel as the base for research. The 1930s is a decade that shaped the world as we know it today.

Review: Roll of Thunder,Hear My Cry
Written by Mildred .D. Taylor
Publisher: Puffin

The book I am choosing to write about is Called Roll of Thunder,Hear My Cry. The genre is realistic fiction. It is about a black family living in Mississippi during the 1930s. The family struggles through racism, deaths and trying to maintain their land that they live on during the height of the Great Depression. Many scary things happen to the family. Such as burnings, night riders, and other close encounters. All through the hard times the family managed to keep their courage, love, and pride. It is a wonderful novel and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves a story of courage and hope.

The main characters are Cassie, who is the one telling the story a brave daughter of the Logan family. Stacey, Cassie's older brother considers himself the man of the family when the father is gone. David, who is the father, is often gone from home by working on the railroad. Mary and Big Ma are the mothers of the family. Mary is the mother and Big Ma is the grandmother. There are many other supporting characters

I personally love this book . I highly recommend it to anyone. Especially African American children. To learn how hard it was for their race during that time. It is good for people of all ages. It is a story of faith, courage , hope, love and family. The family in this book are very brave. It is one of the best books I have read in quite a while.

Review: This is a great novel and it is interesting. It is about a struggling black family living in the 1930's. It is told by Cassie Logan, a 9-year old African American girl. The book showws things that were valued at that time from family, work, food and even cars. Throughout the book you will learn jof economics and politics and also about the history of this period of time. The story is very moving and it isn't one specific type of book. It is a mixture of everything, which make a person that doesn't enjoy reading like it. I highly recommend this book so people can learn from history and understand how the new era has come about. Have a great time reading this book.

Summary: Thank you to my Core teacher who made me read this book!
Review: I usually hate books that people make me read. I usually cant enjoy them because I know I have to remember every single fact about them. Ugh. But this book, set im Mississippi around the turn of the century is...amazing. I would give it more stars if I could but I cant. Its just so...wonderful. And it deals with other stuff besides slavery. At some point youll probably read this book in school. But while wait untill then? Pick up this book and read it. Im 12 but I recomend it for people as young as 10 and as old as...100! So gice this book a try. And if you like it...Mildred Taylor has wrttin many prequels and sequels. So this may be one of the few books worth the Newbeery it got.

Review: This is a Great and intresting book about a poor black family in the 1930's. It follows a 1st person view of the familys young girl cassie who is a very intresting charcter. This great story takes you back to where blacks were thought of as somthing not human and this is something that young cassie cant understand. From A white girl calling he trash to he brothers friend being beaten she trys to understand what the difference is between black and white. In this great story it describes all of the troubles that this family faces and how they solve there problems. I found this book very intresting and I learned alot from it I reccomend this great book to anyone who loves to read.

Summary: Exciting
Review: I read Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry as an assignment for a summer Children's Literature class at West Virginia State College. My professor Mr. Samples wanted us to read a Newbery Award winning book. I chose to read Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry and I am glad I did. This was a wonderful book full of excitement. I recommend this book to everyone, child to adult. The book truly gives the reader an opportunity to experience life in the 1930s as an African American. Mildred Taylor did an amazing job writing this book to make the reader feel as if they were actually in the story.

Summary: Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry
Review: As an elementary education major as West Virginia State College, I am required to read several childrens books for my Childrens Literature course. Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry is one of the books that I had to read. This has to be one of my favorite books of all time! I love how the author uses the vivid language in telling this story and getting her point across.I know this book is considered a censored book, and I understand it's because of the language, but I think keeping this book out of the hands of children would be detrimental to their own selves as human beings. I would reccommend this book to anyone, child or adult, that enjoys hearing an excellent story about the south.

Summary: Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry
Review: Dear You,

I recently read the amazing book Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry. The story is full of twists and turns for example Stacey has to attend school under his mothers direction, TJ wants to use Stacey to get answers to tests, and much more. If you are a lover of adventure and you can bear the painful parts in this story, like me you will love it. From Cassie's mouth to T.J's attitude. This book has you laughing one second and crying the next. Hope you enjoy it!
