Rating: Summary: Great book Review: Another good book from Ann Rinaldi. You'll definitely enjoy this, from start to finish. Its well worth the list price and you'll want to read it again and again.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Suspense Thriller! Review: This book is about Oscie Mason and the troubles of war that not only conflict on the battlefield but also in her family and her heart. She shows courage and will stand up against anything. This book was amazing and kept me hooked for many days. For this story is really about believing in yourself for that will take you to your highest heights.
Rating: Summary: 3 CHEERS FOR ANNE RINALDI! Review: The book called In My Father's House is probably one of the best books I've read. I've read many of her books before, but this is probably her best. The plot was straight forward and easy to understand. The tie between history and fiction was flawless. Once you pick the book up, you'll never want to put it down. I read it when I was in sixth grade, but I'll never forget it because it was so good. Don't take my word for it. You try reading it.
Rating: Summary: Made History Real! Review: This book kept my interest up and made history seem more real. I actually imagined real people while the story unfolded.
Rating: Summary: This book was.... Review: This was really a good book, but the other reviews tell you that. Rinaldi is a wonderful writer and she makes the characters feel real. If you liked this book, you should read her others.
Rating: Summary: In My Father's House Review: This is one of the best books written to explore the youth and the civil war. Few people realize the impact it had on the adolescence of the time. This book lets the reader see the turmoil teenagers go through normally, and then accurately depicts the added stress of one of the country's most significant eras. It also teaches many lessons necessary for getting along with people you may not like and adapting to change. This is definitely one of her best, seconded only by Time Enough For Drums.
Rating: Summary: THE BOOK WAS GREAT Review: I THOUGHT THE BOOK WAS SOMETHING EVERYONE SHOULD READ YOU LEARN ABOUT THE CIVIL WAR AND FACTS ABOUT OUR HISTORY IT'S JUST GREAT I'VE READ IT THREE TIMES ALREADY! YOU MUST READ
Rating: Summary: I was caught hook, line, and sinker! Review: Four years ago, I picked a book out of mail order catalogue because I liked the subject matter. It came with the others I had ordered, but was quickly retired to my bookcase before the cover was even opened. Finally, having exhausted all other options, I took it down and began to read. Little did I know that the words contained between those two covers would captivate me so much that my largest collection would be of this author's books. Ms. Rinaldi described a story to me from the viewpoint of a small girl named Oscie Mason whose trials seemed to far outweigh my own. She was a girl with spirit and gumption. A girl that I wanted to imitate, and hold close to my heart forever. When I was emersed in the belly of this novel, I misplaced it. For weeks I searched, unable to recall its most recent location, despite my mother's constant pushing in that direction. I could not read another book, with Oscie's unfinished story still fresh in my mind. I wanted to know what happened to the girl whose front lawn served as a Civil War battleground. I wanted to find out if she ever came to a peaceful agreement with her loathed stepfather. I was in turmoil, pondering it when I should have been asleep at night, imagining the ending when school lessons failed to keep my attention. At last, I found my precious book, and within a few days only, I devoured the last half. It now sits with the other 13 I own by Ann Rinaldi in my bookcase, reminding me when I see it that it was what started my favorite collection of books. I recommend it to anyone who loves to be swept away by their imagination into a world where trials seem insignificant, yet remain etched in your mind forever.
Rating: Summary: Awesome Story!!!!!!!! Review: At first I didn't know if I was going to like this book because I'm not that into historical fiction, but this book was amazing! It got me hooked just reading the first few pages. I loved how realistic things were in the book yet it was soo interesting. Oscie is a great leading character and always surprised you with the things she did. You can't skip out on this book!
Rating: Summary: A Wonderful Civil War Saop Opera That Happens To Be True Review: I absoultely loved this book! I am a great fan of Civil War Literature, fiction and non-fiction alike. I had this book for a long time before I actually decided to read it, and once I was done I wondered how I could have waited so long. The characters are so realistic that they seemed like dear friends. If you are an emotional person you will most likely find yourself bawling your eyes out in various places throughout the book. I had heard the basic story of the book before, but never has it portrayed in such a moving and entertaing way. Ann Rinaldi has done such wonderful research that it almost seems like you're actually there in those turbulent years.
