Summary: Without a doubt, this book is Ann Rinaldi at her best.
Review: A 'Break with Charity was the very first Ann Rinaldi book I read, and it got me hooked. It's about the Salem witch trials, and in my opinion, it's a lot better than all those history books.

"I peered through the naked trees and bushes toward the house. The girls had gone inside now, and, as always, I was standing alone in the bone numbing dusk." That was when Susanna English carefree life would change forever. More than anything Susanna wanted to be in that house with the circle of girls while Tituba a slave tells their futures. The leader of this circle (parsonage) was Ann Putnam, is about to set off a torrent of false accusations. These innocent people will be sent to prison and worse. Susanna starts to put pieces together she faces the most life changing choice she will ever have to make. She can choose to say nothing about these false accusing and let innocent people be named as witches or she can "break charity" with the circle of girls or risk having her family named as witches.
Ann Rinaldi is a great Author and has written 32 other books, which I have read 7 of them. Wolf by the Ears, A Break with Charity, The Blue Door, Keep Smiling through, Fighting Liberty, Time Enough for Drums, Quaintness with Darkness. Ann Rinaldi use to write for a newspaper, but now enjoys written historical fiction noels for teenagers and young adults.
This is a great book that you never want to put down. I would say this book is more for girls. This is a intence book, but I would recoment it to all teenage girls.

Summary: A great read!
Review: A Break with Charity is a good book, in which the true story of the Salem witch trials is depicted. Aspects of Puritain life are introduced, as the story goes on. The main character, Susanah English, finds out the truth about what is going on in Salem Town, and at the same time she finds herself. People are dying, and soon Susanah's family is in danger. Will she tell the truth, or get caught up in the madness herself?

Review: A Break With Charity is a historical fiction book by Ann Rinaldi and is based on the 1600's Salem Witch Trials. The main characters are Susanna English (a Puritan girl), Ann Putnam (an afflicted girl) and Joseph Putnam (someone who opposes the Salem Witch Trials). The setting of the story is in Salem, Massachusetts and is mainly about the hangings and trials of the accused witches. Some parts of the story were extremely boring because the excessive parts were basically not important. This distracted us from the main point of the story and made it boring. The story within was interesting and exciting at points though. For example, the hangings and the trials were really hard to believe; they just seem to be too interesting, exciting and unrealistic to have really happened. Even though the novel was boring and at points, it was confusing, but it was educational and taught us many facts about a dark time in America's history.

Summary: A Break With Stardom!
Review: A Break With Charity is a masterpiece. Truly well written with great historical context. The Salem Witch Trials are something we'd like to forget about but Ann Rinaldi tells it like is should be with true characters. I couldn't put it down for the book is thrilling with great detailed scenes. "They fell and twitched on the floor screaming with terror." The witches had them they cried. If your tired of those gorey horror stories that are all the same this book will give you goosebumps over the real thing. I reccomend this book to anyone who is interested in our past and willing to understand and educate themselves about sometimes our country's gruelsome past.

Review: A Break With Charity is a wonderful book fort young readers and protraits the time of the Salem Witch Trials very well. This is a very good historial ficton book and good for research also. I think that the author could have made things a bit more spficic though, because when I had to take a test on the book, I was confused, but only a bit. I think this is an excellent book for young readers and anyone who is couios about the Salem Witch Trials should read it

Summary: A Real Turn Pager
Review: A Break With Charity is one of Rinaldi's best work. The story about hate, betryal, love, trust, and loyalty is great. The story is about Susanna English and how she knows the truth about what happend within the circle of girls who cried out agianst the "witches". Ann Putnam was the leader for the circle who cried out on the people who her mother thought were witches. I highly recommand this book to all those who love to learn about history through a story.

Summary: A Break With Charity is one of Ann Rinaldi's Best!!!
Review: A Break With Charity was a very involving book, I felt as if, I, the reader were in Sussana's shoes the whole time I was reading this book. I felt her pain, her joy and every other emotion that she felt. A Break With Charity, as in all of Rinaldi's books that I have read, has history in it so that by the time you have finnished the book you know so much more than you started out knowing about the subject of the book.
