Summary: Holes & Secrets
Review: I enjoyed reading Holes. I was definitely hooked. At first I thought that it would be a dorky and boring story, but in the end it was pretty good. I want to see the movie to compare and see any relations to the book. But if I was given a choice to choose the movie or the book....I'd choose the book hands down.

Summary: Review of Holes By Rico
Review: I enjoyed the action and adventure of Holes. Holes is written by Louis Sachar. I recommend this book to all 4th& 5th graders. An important theme of this book is friendship. The main character, Stanley, has a family curse. Stanley was sent to a place called Camp Green Lake and that's where he and Zero meet. They become friends and they rescue each other. Read the book Holes to see if digging holes really does build character.

Summary: Holes
Review: I enjoyed the book, Holes very much. Although it is set for ages ten and up I believe that any age level can enjoy thid book. I liked this book because it kept me guessing and didn't give away the ending to soon. I was constantly on my feet trying to predict what would happen next. Louis Sachar has a unique way of writing and involves the reader so that they feel like they are there too. If you like adventure books that keep you guessing and involve you in the story the Holes is for you.

Review: I enjoyed this book because all my friends liked it and told me it was a great book to read. Holes was exciting and I was very interested while reading it. I liked the main character Stanley, because he was brave and never gave up. He didnt't worry about himself all the time and he stuck up for his friends. The best part of the book was when Stanley got to go home from Camp Greenlake and see his parents. His best friend,Hector, gets to leave with Stanley and his family. With the help of the treasure they dug up at camp,Hector finds his mother.

Summary: WONDERFULLY WRITTEN!
Review: I enjoyed this book because it was a mystery and mysteries are my favorite types of stories. I also found the cover very attractive. I liked the main character,Stanley Yelnats. He was cool and had a good heart, but most people misjudge him because of his appearance. The best part of the book was when Stanley jumped into one of the camp officers trucks and drove of into the hot,dry desert. Then crashing into an enormous hole! I thought this part of the book was very exciting and action packed. I loved the ending because it fit best with the story. This ending made Holes on of the best books I have ever read!

Summary: Holes
Review: I enjoyed this book immensely. This book has a dual plot of interwoven stories occurring in the present and 110 years ago in the same location. The parallels between the plot of long ago and the events of today are extraordinary. In the past, a young man sold onions, which become very important to the plot later on. The onion is a symbol for the book itself and for its central characters. The book begins very bitter as people are very mean to Stanley, but as we get deeper we see a soft side to some of the characters and find a very sweet relationship between the two central characters. The friendship formed between these two based upon sharing is a message for the way kids should get along. Just like the onion, as we peel each stinging layer off we find ourselves getting closer and closer to a sweet core. While some portions of the book are harsh, portraying some adult characters as being very mean, the focus is more on the choices that Stanley makes and the friendship that he forms with Zero. I would recommend this book to anyone over the age of 10.

Why 4 stars?: I have always liked Sachar's books and this one continues in his same tradition. "Holes" is less humorous than Sachar's previous works, but it has a very important underlying message: the value of friendship. Because of its cruelty to some characters however, I would not suggest it for children younger than 10. The only reason this book lost a star is because it can be very slow at points, which may lose children's interest. But, all in all - a wonderful book!

Summary: HOLES
Review: I enjoyed this book very much. It really got me thinking. Everything in this book went in a circle. It was so good that my mom is reading it. Everything in this book is very important. During this book you learn plenty of morals, like "don't judge a book by its cover", "don't steal", and "don't break promises." This book was a little strange for me, but it was worth it. I highly recommend this book to all kids over 10 years and older.
