Rating: Summary: A fun read Review: I browsed through the reviews and was surprised to see how negative many of them were. I bought the book several days after it came out and enjoyed reading it quite a bit. Full disclosure: I definitely consider myself a liberal, so maybe that tainted my opinion; however, I evaluated the book not on its political merits, but rather as an (auto)biography and found that it still held up. Even if you disagree with Hillary's political views, you'd be hard-pressed to disagree with the fact that she has certainly had an interesting life. She chronicles her childhood in the suburbs of Chicago, her four years at Wellesley, and then finally meeting Bill at Yale Law School, before delving into a description of being a prominent politician's life. Some of the stories are fascinating and a few of the anecdotes even made me laugh out loud (i.e., her decision to choose Yale Law over Harvard Law after a professor at Harvard made a denigrating comment about women in law school). Her love for her daughter, if nothing else, is genuine and comes through loud and clear in her (or whoever wrote this) writing. Even the chapter about the Lewinsky debacle seems pretty on the ball. You might disagree with her decision to stay with Bill, but reading some of her thoughts and insights on the matter is thought-provoking to say the least. In sum: If you like Hillary, if you admire her, if you find her an interesting political figure, then buy/read this book. If not, avoid it--you're obviously not going to enjoy it.
Rating: Summary: I AM THE GREATEST and SHOULD BE PRESIDENT Review: This book belongs in the FICTION section. There are so many contradictions and lies, one wonders why anyone would read this at all.Written by three ghostwriters, it is not an autobiography. Like so much of what the Junior Senator says and does, her underlying contempt for people is obvious. She takes the public for fools. The only thing (mercifully) missing is the reported and documented story of Hillary telling the press how she came to be named Hillary. "In honor of the courage of Sir Edmond Hillary, who conquered Mount Everest" Unfortunately for the rarely truthful Mrs. Clinton, Edmond Hillary climbed Mount Everest many years after Hillary Rodham was born. Not addressed in this supposed truthtelling bio are the pardoning of the Puerto Rican terrorists before the election, the pardons of Marc Rich, and among others, Hillary's lying, scheming brothers, and the buying of Hassidic votes.
Rating: Summary: UNBELIEVABLE! Review: I thought that I would give her the benefit of the doubt, but this was ridiculous! I found it insincere, to say the least. And why does she need so many extra writers to give an "honest" autobiography? Don't buy this book -- borrow it from another ...!
Rating: Summary: I fail to understand Review: I fail to understand what makes this lady to write a book. She is a liar who should never pretend to have been a great lady. The lady who misguided the entire US citizens by saying that her 'husband' was innocent deserve no mercy from the people of the world. Now she reappears wih a different story for money. Let the big lady place a place charity boxes in all big cities such that people can throw dimes for her. That is even better, she cannot pollute this society any more. We are conscious about environmental pollution, we forget about social pollution. And today, this lady is creating the greatest social pollution in this world. "BEWARE OF HER".
Rating: Summary: Who in their right mind would pay money for this? Review: If you must read this nonsense, please go to the library as I did. Morbid curiosity is the only reason I picked it up. I could only read a portion since laughing so hard made my asthma act up. Hillary embraces victimology. She is a hero in her own mind. Oppressed by the evil "vast right wing conspiracy." Give me just a small break. Who in their right mind would buy this? And better yet, who in their right mind would buy INTO this?
Rating: Summary: Revisionist History from Hillary Review: Hillary has done little but lie, cheat, and steal her way to the top of American politics. Her memoir is, with little doubt, nothing but revisionist history fashioned by her and written by someone else. While championing the poor, old Hillary and Bill make large sums of money, some of which is paid for by honest taxpayers, yet they haven't paid their own legal bills. Don't put good money into the hands of a scoundrel like Hillary.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Book Review: I was pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable and interesting this book turned out to be. Obviously, most people will approach the topic with lots of preconceived notions (and I suspect that most of the one-star reviews below didn't actually bother to read the book), but I thought it was a well-done attempt by Sen. Clinton to explain her view of things. Definitely worth purchasing.
Rating: Summary: Great book Review: I can clearly tell that most of you have read this book with an already established opinion of the Clintons. I just wonder why you wasted your time with the book if you don't respect them or like them. Like, why would you give them YOUR money? I, on the other hand, thought it was a good book. I have a double major in history and political science and I thought that it was a good book to read. I read it to further educate myself and I would recommend it to any one who is interested in various presidencies or history. :-D
Rating: Summary: Should be in the fiction section Review: This was an awful book. I used to have a moderate amount of respect for the woman, but this book is horrible. For a woman that could be so powerful and influential, this is just an awful example for herself and women in general. So, in short, I don't recommend wasting the money.
Rating: Summary: Good enough to make Tucker eat his tie Review: The conservatives are deathly afraid of Hillary. They know that she is the woman most likely to become the first female president. Her book, combined with David Brock's "Blinded by the Right," paint an accurate portrait of the vast right-wing conspiracy that they simply don't want you to believe. A minority junta has taken control of the media, including the editorial section of sites like this, to present their biased, far-right views as though they were held by everyone. Don't listen to the Freeper hype from these timid conservatives, challenge yourself, read the insider account, and learn the truth about the campaign to destory the Clintons that cost us all 70 million and the world's respect.
