Summary: It became more compelling as I read right up to the very end
Review: Like "Catcher in the Rye, " this book reads in a very believable voice through the eyes of a human, flaws and all, male character who struggles to find meaning in his life. I felt I could identify to his story, even though I am not a twin. I highly suggest this book to all adults.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Very entertaining and heart-warming.
Review: This was one of the most interesting books I hav ever read

Summary: Great Book!
Review: This book had me from the first page to the last - and that's a lot of pages! There were several stories all woven around and through each other. I was totally absorbed and I couldn't put it down. If you liked "She's Come Undone", you'll really enjoy this book.

Summary: I WISH THIS BOOK HAD GONE ANOTHER 1000 PAGES!
Review: The dual stories in this book, kept me turning each page with anticipation. I wanted to know if Dominick could ever bring his life together, and be at peace with himself..........Then I wanted to know the deep dark secrets of Domenico Onofrio Tempesta, and how the two stories unraveled to mesh into one another. This book was well worth the hours spent reading it. There was a surprise around every corner, and never, NEVER could I guess what was coming next! Wally's done it again!

Summary: Wow!
Review: Very riveting and involving. I couldn't put the book down from the time Dominick starts reading Domenico's story until the end of the book. I am neither a twin or a shizophrenic, but I feel like I know a little more of what it's all about now. She's Come Undone was a great start, but who knew that this would be from the same author? This is a fabulous book and I hope Mr. Lamb follows with another one like it (and soon!)

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Reflective, ---Could not put it down!!!
Review: As a twin, it was interesting to read about the complex relationship between twins--where one ends--the other begins??? So much pain yet the author weaves a wonderful tale of pride, anger, love, loyalty and responsibility. A recommend, particularly for a snowly afternoon!

Summary: Calling Dr. Patel...Calling Dr. Patel...
Review: A good read, but as a woman I was greatly disappointed with Lamb's character development of Dessa, the love of Dominick's life. I am so sick and tired of women (real and created) being portrayed as eager to please, overly-tolerant, passive doormats that take anything men like Dominick dish out. Like David Petry in his 8/4/98 review, I was also appalled with how Dessa handled the aftermath of Dominick forcing her to have sex with him: "I'm just going to go home and take a long hot bath and wash this experience off of me." EXCUSE ME?! Oh, and the real clincher, "Let's talk about this." Dr. Patel would have a field day with her! Throughout the novel I kept hoping--praying--that Dessa or some other female romantic interest of Dominick's would "raise the bar" and inspire him to be a better man. Remember Jack Nicholson's words to Helen Hunt in "As Good As It Gets": "You make me want to be a better man."? Get him to stop feeling sorry for himself and start renovating. But then again, as Dr. Patel might say, "water seeks its own level." Dessa was obviously in dire need of a psychological tune-up herself since she believed Dominick was the best man she could settle down with. What a shame. And the remarriage--Dominick was still renovating himself! And Dessa should have undertaken the same task! This book would have been much more effective and rewarding if it had ended with both Dessa and Dominick getting counseling with the insightful Dr. Patel before exchanging vows a second time. Oh, well. Maybe the main female character in Lamb's next novel will possess the qualities of Dr. Patel--self-esteem, strength, and intelligence. I sure hope so.

Summary: Wally Lamb does it again...let's hope he goes for a third.
Review: Being the sister of twin brothers, one of whom was schizophrenic, I was anxious to read this book. Being prepared to be very critical, I was soon consumed by Wally's insight into the tortuous battle of mental illness...both for the victim and the observer...(the other victim). For Wally's Dominic, I'm glad there was a happy ending. Wally, you did it right. Please write another one.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: A very human, very moving experience
Review: Wally Lamb has created a world that becomes important to the reader. Although this book is HUGE, you become quickly immersed in the lives of its characters. Rarely does a book make me weep, but this one did. The journey that Dominick takes is an unforgettable one as he struggles to understand the how and why of who he is. This book will make you think about your own family history, and it will help you to celebrate the triumph of living your life fully.
