Rating: Summary: Compelling and Moving Review: I was deaply moved by the intensity with which Lamb portrayed his characters. I found it more compelling and realistic then She's Come Undone. I grew to love and understand Dominik. At times it was unncessarly repetitive, but over all well worth the 897 pages!
Rating: Summary: Sad It Had To End Review: I loved this book. At first I was intimidated by the size of it ( 900 pages) but I could not put it down. Wally Lamb holds your attention from the first page to the last page and has many surprises in store from the beginning to the end. I can't wait to read She's Come Undone.
Rating: Summary: An Emotional Rollercoaster ride Review: This book is quite long but very descriptive and will tug at all of your emotions.
Rating: Summary: ok, i now too know this much is true.. Review: i am married to an identical twin and the book aside from being entertaining, was insightful too, twins are definately a different breed, and this explained alot for me....i thought she's come undone was the best book i had read until i read i know this much is true....there is a waiting list in my family for the book...
Rating: Summary: A very touching story! Review: I hardly ever put it down. It gave me an insite to a life with a twin and a sibling with a mental problem. I was never intimadated by the thickness. I knew it had to be a good book from just looking at the cover and the summary.
Rating: Summary: LAMB OUT DOES HIMSELF AGAIN Review: IT IS NOT OFTEN THAT WE ARE BLESSED WITH AN AUTHOR WITH SO MUCH INSPIRATION AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE WORLD AROUND. THOMAS AND DOMINICK TOUCH EACH READER WITH THEIR WILL TO HAVE GOOD CONQUER
Rating: Summary: Better than 'She's Come Undone'! Review: Although I was not a fan of his first bestseller, this was one of the best books I've ever read. Long and somewhat overwhelming at first glance, the novel contained many subplots neatly connected through the main character, with all the loose ends tied. Take your time and enjoy every page!
Rating: Summary: Bereft Review: I read this book and felt so very close to all of the characters. Wally Lamb writes so convincingly that I felt I had lost good friends when I finished the book. I only wish he would hurry up and get his next book finished!
Rating: Summary: Share the Joy and Sorrow of Humanity Review: Wally Lamb's new book, I Know This Much is True, is a long tale about finding what is true and worthwhile in life and being able to hold on to it through fear, anger, humiliation, uncertainty, tragedy, and of course, love. Dominick Birdsey, identical twin brother of Thomas, paranoid schizophrenic and gentle soul, struggles with his own identity as well as the identity of their past. Who was their father, who was their grandfather, mother, stepfather? Through his grandfather Dominico's narrative of his own life, Dominick recogizes family traits that exist in himself and in his brother. But dealing with a brother like Thomas is difficult at best, and Dominick faces personal anguish and despair as he struggles to separate himself from his mirror image and at the same time to accept the qualities that make Thomas so appealing as part of himself. As readers, we come to understand the relationships in several families and as Dominick grows older and more mature, we share his pain and eventual redemption as he discovers the truth about his family and is able to come to terms with his own life. This is a story of forgiveness and redemption--just like real life, just like the lives that all of us lead in one way or another. In reading I Know This Much is True, we share the joy and sorrow of humanity and through Dominick Birdsey's story, experience the truth that only living can reveal.
Rating: Summary: Compelling 900 pages Review: I couldn't believe how powerful this book was. There was a lot of information at times, but one of the best books I have ever read.
