Summary: A Book That I Will Never Forget
Review: This is truly a book that will stay with me for the rest of my life. There aren't many books that you can honestly say that about. I was engrossed from the beginning to the end. "I Know This Much Is True" is the kind of book that you get so involved in that you almost feel a part of it. For anyone who has lived with mental illness this book touches your very soul. Mental illness is so difficult to live with at times that you feel your own life fading if you're not careful and summon the courage to figure it out. Thank you Wally Lamb for writing such an intense, therapetic, and revealing novel. After I finished the book I found it difficult to read anything else for about 1 month because I couldn't stop thinking about "I Know This Much Is True." I will carry this experience with me always!! Summary: A fantastic and compelling story!
Review: Wally Lamb has written a phenomenal novel about two identical twins, one a schizophrenic, and the other an everyday joe. This is the kind of book that pulls you in from the very beginning. It takes you through the life of Dominic, the "normal" brother, and his struggles with women, work, and life, that all stem from the inconvenience that comes along with having a brother in an asylum. It shows that Dominic cares, and yet also portrays the times when he really doesn't care. Many instances throughout my reading of the book, I found myself wanting to scream at Thomas(the schizo) and Dominic out of frustration. That's when I knew I was hooked. The book takes a look at the twin's grandfather, an Italian immigrant, through the old pages of an autobiography. Throughout these trials, Dominic looks for his real father, the man that left him and his mom--the man he blames as the reason he was forced to live with a somewhat abusive step-father. The answer to that question compounded with the twist the book takes in regard to Thomas, leave Dominic with an inner peace that he has never felt. Dominic was the reluctant hero of his life, and at the end, he knew that much was true.

Summary: This was truly one of the best books I have ever read.
Review: I savored every page of this book. The characters became my family...my friends...myself. Although Domenick's family history is unique, the lessons he must learn are universal to all of us. Thank you Wally Lamb for articulating so beautifully...the simple truths that my own losses are teaching me. If a writer's mission is to give voice and vision to a reader's secret, soul whisperings, then Mr. Lamb has truly fullfilled his destiny!

Summary: Best Book I have ever read!!!
Review: Don't be turned off by 900+ pages - I read this book in 7 days! I couldn't put it down. While reading this book, I continually looked to the inside jacket cover to see if Wally Lamb was a twin, Italian, or had a mental illness. It didn't seem possible that someone could know so much about being a twin, Italian, etc. without being one. He is just a fabulous author. This book is a must read. I also enjoyed She's Come Undone, and once again couldn't help but wonder how he could know so much about a woman's feelings. I think Oprah gives him the credit he deserves by recommending his work. You will be moved by this book - I promise!

Summary: Good book, and good for you
Review: This was a nice, big, messy book, full of almost operatic characters. I liked it. It's incredibly depressing, however, to realize that the generations keep making the same mistakes and omissions based on prejudice over and over again.

One last thing: reading Wally Lamb is like having a guest therapist sharing your home for a few days. I got some nice insights from this and She's Come Undone that have helped me to deal with some of my own issues. Lord knows, Lamb covers every issue known to humankind! Good reads, and good for you, too.

Summary: an emotional rollercoaster (an appropriate cliche)
Review: i became totally immersed in this book; i cared so much about every character. unlike some readers, I felt the use of "foul" language in the book made it realistic and helped me identify with the characters. it was, of course, the classic "Oprah Book Club Book" (hero's quest, messed up family, etc.) but I still found it beautiful. my only critisism would be the really happy ending. the entire book led up to this complete mental shut down from Dominick, the main character, and the ending was summed up in about 5 pages. nevertheless, i would highly recommend it.

Summary: A VERY COMPELLING,INTENSE READ
Review: WOW,,What a life,Wally Lamb captured one familys' tortured, complex life with such honesty and gave it so much gripping humanity,,,it made me grateful for my comparatively boring family life. I was so entrenched with this novel..that I could'nt sleep for 3 nights, and 3 days...untill I finished it. Alas the ending was just too neat and packaged too perfectly. But will be remembered on my list as one of my all time favorites.

Summary: Dissapointed, it was too slow and the point was...
Review: I was very disappointed after reading for hours and hours about all the tragedies the character is faced with. By the end I was tired and depressed from all the predictaments the poor man was in. I kept waiting for a climax or a revelation that would make my heat leap and it never happened. The hand removal and the monkey scene were shocking to an extent. Although, I didn't feel the author really went anywhere with all of the shocking events. Due to the topics Oprah was covering on her program I was really hoping for a more positive story or a least a more meaningful one. I was expecting a really great book because it was recommended on Oprah's book club but I came away leary of her recommendations.

Summary: FANTASTIC!!
Review: I'm a 15-year-old girl. I read the book when I was 14- and although it's almost 900 pages, I read it in 9 days. Every time I reread the last part, I cry. BEST BOOK I'VE EVER READ!! Email me to discuss it.
