Summary: Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas-- The Best Book
Review: This book is one of the best books I have ever read. It had wonderful characters. You will cry, but is worth reading it 20 times and crying each time you read it. I know I have!

Summary: not the typical James Patterson
Review: I knew from looking at the cover of this book and reading the title that this was no ordinary James Patterson mystery thriller. Instead, I was reminded more of Nicholas Sparks who wrote The Notebook, Message in a Bottle and others. And I found myself truly amazed by this book. So much so that I finished reading it the same night I started it.

James Patterson divides the book up into sections on Katie and The Diary. We first meet Katie who is a likeable woman who in completely in love with her boyfriend and the man of her dreams who breaks her heart by breaking up with her instead of giving her the diamond ring she believed was coming. Matt had given her a diary to read from Suzanne writing to Nicholas. After reading the entire book, the reader gets to see and feel how life had unravelled and we get to understand who Matt is and where he comes from emotionally. This is not just a story about Katie and Matt, but also of Suzanne and Nicholas.

I felt as though James Patterson's background in suspense novels helped this story because there are many different layers that he chooses to withhold until the reader is ready. What I mean is that despite the love story there are a few twists and turns and piecing together of information until finally you can put all the pieces together.

If you enjoy reading Nicholas Sparks' novels, then you should not miss this book, but if you are expecting a typical suspense mystery thriller....keep looking. For what he intended to do with this novel, he succeeded. (And I hope he writes more!)

Summary: Couldn't Put It Down
Review: I am happy to say my first encounter with a James Patterson book is one I'll never forget. Katie is left alone in the world, deserted by the one she loved. As I read about her life and how she picks up the pieces and moves on, I was torn between many things. Whether Matt was a creep or a caring husband and if he should be with Katie or Suzanne.

I started this book on a day one weekend, and after a few hours I closed it. It's one of those books you read all the way through. Written in a way to make you anxious to read on and find out what happens in the next chapter. It would make an amazing movie if done right.

Summary: A Willing Suspension of Disbelief?
Review: I was excited about reading the book - saw it was a NY Times Bestseller. But I was disappointed. Very formulaic. And I had to suspend my disbelief in the most extreme way to enjoy reading the book. It reads very quickly anyway! I guess Mr. Patterson should stick to what he does best - mystery suspense.

Summary: I couldn't love it more!
Review: This is now one of my top ten favorites. I was truly engrossed in the book and could not put it down. Patterson put himself in the league of Nicholas Evans concerning love stories. I highly recommend this title to anyone who enjoys a heart-warming love story.

Summary: Ever want to peek at someone else's diary??
Review: Being this was the first novel that I've read by James Patterson, I had no expectations biased by his previous works. However, I was greatly impressed by this easy and quite emotional read. So much so that I'm interested in reading other books by this author. The story was a great concept and kept the reader guessing from one scene to the next where the diary was leading. While the main character, Suzanne, seemed a bit too sappy at times and her view of her love interest, Matt, a bit too perfect at times, it was an enjoyable story nonetheless. I received this book as a Christmas gift, and would highly recommend it for anyone else to give as a gift to a loved one.

Summary: thank you mom
Review: My aunt bought this book for my mother, who bought it for me, and now I will buy it for my best friend. My father, uncle, sister-in-law and husband have also been given and have read this story. It is a love story between a mother and a child. All the other characters are merely effected by that love. It only takes about 3 hours to read straight through (not counting running to the store for more Kleenex). I encourage anyone to read this book and allow the emotions to completely take hold during those 3 hours and see if it doesn't change you.

Summary: James Patterson's Best Novel
Review: I read a lot of James Patterson's books such as 1st to Die, Cradle and All, Jack & Jill, ect., but Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas was the best yet. It actually made me cry, and few books do that for me. It's brillantly written and I hope Mr. Patterson will do more love stories like it.

Summary: One of the most remarkable books of the year...
Review: The maximum for this review is 1000 words. Based on reading this book, were James Patterson writing this review, it could win the Pulitzer Prize. Prior to reading this book, I tended to be prejudiced against short novels. I felt that they left insufficient time to fully develop the characters. Clearly my prejudice stemmed from not reading the correct authors.

This book deals with two storylines - the relationship between Matt & Katie and between Matt & Suzanne -- on two different time lines. While on the surface this seems like it could be confusing, it isn't. Within the first few pages of this book, Mr. Patterson envelops you in the world of these characters. You feel like they are people that you know, and with whom you can empathize. Because of the strengths of these characters and the storylines, you are enraptured.

I won't delve into what this book is about -- this is a review, not a book report. The synopsis of the book provided [...] accurately describes the storyline, without giving too much information or leaving you wondering what on earth they're talking about.

However, I will state unequivicably, that this is a phenomenal story that grips your mind and your heart from the get-go. Just when you think you know what's going to happen next or how things are going to turn out, you find that you're wrong. But don't worry, the ending is quite satisfying. I can just about guarantee that you will love this book. As a matter of fact, you will probably want to read it again and again.

Happy Reading...
