Summary: It was unappealing
Review: I read this book with dismay and increasing disappointment as the plot meandered. I have read other books by this author and found them interesting and enjoyable. This book, however, missed the target. Although the story line might have gone somewhere, it didn't and quickly became indigestable nonsense. You wanted to care for the characters, but you were not led there; they and the story were very superficial. The ending was predictable and unappealing. I would be very careful in selecting other books by this author.

Summary: My entire book club disliked it!
Review: This book was so sappy. The people had no depth; there was no real character development. I didn't particularly care what happened to the people because I couldn't relate to them at all. The main male character was an adolescent girl fantasy come true. This book is just an overinflated short story, large print with wide margins. Its a quick read, so I guess that is one good thing about it!

Summary: Almost a Great Book, except the ending
Review: I agree. This book has a great start. And the style is
very interesting. The readers, along with Katie, are
moving in the same pace to understand Matt, Suzanne and
Nicholas.

But the ending is not too convincing.

After finishing this book, my question is still "why does
Matt leave Katie?" It seems like it is only when Matt
leaves, Katie can get a chance to read the diary. That's
the theme of the book.

But Matt leaves without a reasonable cause. He says he loves
Katie very much near the end of the book. Why would he risk
the chance of losing Katie by leaving a diary? Katie could
have read half of diary and stopped right there. She would
then hate Matt forever and never sees him again.

Summary: A young lucky mothers perspective
Review: I read the first 14 pages of this book on line and new I had to have it. I asked for it for Christmas and got it. I read it the same night. I couldn't put it down. My heart is still aching for Suzanne and Nicholas and for their moments together. The magic she felt at seeing her babies smile or hearing his laugh. The terror she experiences at the thought of losing even a second with him, really makes you step out of your life and look at all you have to be thankful for. It gets so busy, so routine that you forget how precious our time here is, this book, this story, puts you back into perspective. I am thankful I read it.

Summary: Incredible
Review: An incredible story that touches every emotion. Patterson is a terrific writer. He draws you into the characters lives from page one. It will leave you tingling inside with a need to read it again. One of my all time favorites. I definitely recommend reading this book

Summary: Sappy . . .
Review: I bought this book when I was in the mood for some good story-telling. Since Patterson is a best-selling author and I'd enjoyed the movies based on his books, I thought I would give this particular book a try. My mistake. While it starts out pretty interesting, this book is just plain old sappy. I think that the main characters themselves are the most appealing aspect and, indeed, the saving grace of the book. They are likeable and realistic. However, the storyline just drones on after a while and the ending is cliche to say the least. If you're looking for a gripping book that will hold you until the last page, this is not it.

Summary: Started off with possibilities....
Review: I was really looking foward to reading this book. I heard mix reviews. I read the book in two days. I was really hoping it would get better, instead it got sappy. It wasn't lucky that I bought this book.

Summary: A Predictable "Soap Opera"
Review: I was very disappointed in this Patterson novel. I found it predictable, contrived, and poorly written (How many times does Suzanne say she is blushing, protesting her aversion to blushing?) I figured the "mystery" out as soon as I started reading Suzanne's words. Of course, she had died, probably along with the child. And how convenient that Katie is there to take Suzanne's place and to provide another child. What a happy ending! Sorry. I'll look forward to reading more of Patterson's real writing in his mysteries.

Summary: Lovely tearjerker
Review: Katie is very much in love with her boyfriend, Matt. On the day she holds an important party for him in his honor, he makes an abrupt departure. He leaves on her doorstep a diary written by his former wife that is dedicated to their son, Nicholas. Matt leaves Katie a note asking her to read this diary in order to understand why he had to leave party so quickly.

I listened to the unabridged audiobook version of this book. Granted I had a cold, but I was left crying like a baby after listening to this heartbreaking story. The story as written by Suzanne was very emotional and her deep feelings and thoughts are beautifully portrayed in this work. It does explain a lot but I would think that someone as 'wonderful' as Matt would have tried to talk to Katie at some point. If my review makes me a sap for liking it, so be it.

Summary: Incredible
Review: I have read all of James Patterson's books, and never fail to get totally involved in his stories. I'm used to his fast paced action, and, honestly, when I read the cover of this book, thought that it just wasn't my "cup of tea". I just knew I'd miss Mr. Patterson's mysterious world of psychological suspense, but, since this book was written by him, I'd just plow through. I could not put this book down for a second. I was stunned at how well he captured the essence of each of the characters, and within only minutes, felt that I personally knew each of them. The story was absolutely wonderful and I ended up buying multiple copies as gifts for friends. This is very, very different from any of his previous works, but I don't think anyone could have done a better job at this touching story. This book is definately a keeper for me.
