Rating: Summary: Great story line!! Review: James Patterson is a great writer, but I prefer his old stuff. If a woman had written this book, she would have let us learn about each character more in depth; shown more emotion. The idea is a great love story, somewhat unlikely though. Similar to Nicholas Sparks... It is a quick read and has a great ending.
Rating: Summary: Patterson should stick to what he knows best, this isn't it. Review: Sorry, Patterson, this book will never be another "Bridges of Madison County." I've always loved Patterson's books, having read them all. I bought this one against my better judgement because I like the way he writes and was willing to give him a chance to try something new. How sad because he certainly missed the boat on this one. In a word, it was drivel.
Rating: Summary: Emotional story Review: This is the first James Patterson novel I've ever read and I really enjoyed it. It was quick to read and I didn't want to put it down.
Rating: Summary: Mixed feelings about this one Review: I was quite intrigued by the idea of a book of this genre being written by a writer like Patterson (though I'm not really a fan of his scarier books). On the one hand, this book was definitely worth the time invested in reading it, which was a 2-hr. flight to summer vacation this year. And, it was good summer vacation reading - light, airy, sweet. But, at the end of this light, airy, sweet treat, I felt as I often have after too much sugar and not enough real meat ... kind of empty. There was nothing here to make me think, nothing much of substance. If that's what summer reading is about for you, this book will fit the bill marvelously. But if you prefer meatier books that demand something of the reader, you will probably find yourself a bit disappointed with this one.
Rating: Summary: sickeningly saccharine Review: Don't waste your money on this book. I admit that I was hooked and had to finish it to see what happened. I finished this book in record time, but only because I skipped through most of the pages. It was so sickeningly sweet it made me gag. I expected alot more from the author of one of my favorite characters, 'Alex Cross'. This book was an extreme disappointment.
Rating: Summary: A Switch on Life Review: I purchased this book because our Son, Nicholas, is to wed Suzanne. Of course, I did not realize at the time that it is a mother's diary to her son. Before gifting to Suzanne, I decided to glance through the volume. I became so engrossed in it, that I finished it in 3-1/2 hours. It is easy, pleasant reading albeit a tear-jerker.......
Rating: Summary: I loved it! Review: What a beautiful story! I had to put it down reluctantly and couldn't wait to return to it. This is the first thing I have read by Patterson...I am telling everyone I can think of to read this book. The story will stay with me for a long time. And I too was struck by the similarity to "Love Story", though this was much more charmingly written. I implore you-don't miss this book. You won't be sorry!
Rating: Summary: Suzannes Diary for Nicholas Review: I found myself not wanting to put this book down. The relationships between Matt, Suzanne, Nicholas and Katie were simply electric. This book is a must read for everyone !!! A cup of tea, a box of kleenex and this book is a recipe for the perfect rainy Sunday afternoon !
Rating: Summary: UNEXPECTED Review: I JUST WIPED THE TEARS AWAY AFTER FINISHING PATTERSONS LATEST EFFORT. I WASN'T SURE I WANTED TO READ THIS TITLE SINCE MY USUAL GENRE IS MYSTERY, BUT I AM SO GLAD I DID. I THOUGHT IT WAS LIFE AFFIRMING AND FULL OF HOPE AND SIMPLE.
Rating: Summary: Beautifully written! Review: When this book came out, I went to a booksigning and bought 2. One for me and one for my Mother-In-Law. I love all of his books, especially, "Kiss The Girls", and wasn't sure about his writing a "love story"! He told me at the signing, that I'd be surprised. And boy was I! It was a wonderful, wonderful story. I cried through at least 30% of it! It was happy, sad, happy, sad...a real tear jerker! He really pulls you in to the story and makes you feel so much for all of the characters. I hope he does another like this some day. For now, I can't wait for "Violets Are Blue"! Oh, and p.s....Morgan Freeman...NOT Alex.
