Summary: Scary, exciting, thrilling...
Review: This book was one that I could not put down for fear that Cassanova was going to win. I read it one day. I only have one suggestion, do not read this book alone at night. You will not sleep!!

Summary: Kiss the Girls is Spellbounding
Review: With a full load at school and work, I find it difficult to find spare time to do what I love {read}. But, one of my friends highly recommended this book, so I decided to find some extra time. I was drawn into the story quickly, and found it extremely difficult to put it down. I really loved the short chapters because of my schedule it made it easy to quickly take off, but each chapter ended in a thrilling incident, which left me anxious to return.

Summary: Morgan Freeman is a great actor but to play Alex Cross?
Review: I read this book when it first came out at a suggestion of a friend. It was my first Patterson book to read. I was not disappointed. It was so entertaining -- an excellent read. But I was glad that I read the book before I saw the movie. Morgan Freeman is wonderful as an actor, but the Alex Cross I always picture is younger, better looking, and built -- Laurence Fishburn -- that's who I pictured -- wearing a black leather jacket driving his old Porsche. This book got me hooked on Patterson and his Alex Cross novels.

Summary: Barely Satisfactory Pulp Crime Thriller
Review: This book was fast-paced and easily readable, but left a lot to be desired. The characters weren't fleshed out fully enough and the ending was weak. As someone stated earlier, I found it hard to care that the killer turned out to be the silent police officer. We don't know him well enough to be really shocked. And why do Alex and Kate have to go their separate ways? The book seems to endorse this idea that the two must remain in their self-enforced isolation, but for no apparent reason. The only reason seems to be so that Alex Cross can go on another adventure without any attachments from a previous novel.

The killers themselves were just plain cheesy, even when we "see through their eyes." Their motivations and drives are never satisfactorily elaborated. Throughout the novel they are described as virile, intelligent, handsome, athletic men. But the cop seems a far cry from these descriptions, silently belligerent and glowering. And the killings seem to begin through repressed sexuality, a desire for a woman that can never be realized because of social inadequacy. But then how can the killers be so smooth and attractive at a later date? I want more from a novel. Not that I want it explicitly explained, but give me some insights. You never really see in the killer's worlds; their inner monologues are limited to nursery rhymes.

Summary: This was very thrilling.....like all of his books
Review: This was the first book that I read of his, and the reason I have since read every other book he has written. He is by far my favorite author yet! The short and powerful chapters are only one of the excellent qualities he uses...I must say it was difficult for me to even think of getting into one of the non-Alex Cross novels, but sure enough, after only a page or two, I was deeply enthralled.. Only one request though, please give us another Alex Cross novel....I am missing him sooo much....

Summary: Girls aged 14 seem to love this book; they should read more.
Review: Although I enjoyed Along Came A Spider, after reading this book I doubt I'll ever read another James Patterson. Hard to believe his rave reviews. Unfortunately, with the money his name ensures, he and his editor and publisher have little incentive to produce any more quality thrillers. This book is a severe abuse of his best-seller status; he should care more about his literary reputation. The other Patterson (Richard North) is a better writer, as are many countless others who are lesser known.

Summary: KISS THE GIRLS Is Suspensful And Thrilling.
Review: I have just finished reading KISS THE GIRLS by James Patterson, and I'm glad to see someone who can write novels that are TRULY suspensful and full of mystery. Alex Cross is a homicide detective who is investigating the disapearence of his neice. But his investigation will take a few plot twists along the way. I recommend this book to anyone who likes a good mystery.

Summary: Absolutely compelling!
Review: This book while inappropriate for some is fascinating and addictive. Possibly the best book I've ever read.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Compelling pace but a flimsy mystery
Review: This was a fun read, and I probably set a personal speed record for finishing. The short chapters do give the narrative an urgent, propulsive feel. I also found the main characters reasonably engaging, and cared what happened to them - Kate especially. But there are major plausibility issues. Why the hell isn't Kate under police protection when she returns to the house? Note that the movie scripters apparently couldn't swallow this either and had to correct it. I hadn't picked up on Kate's changing eye colors - that's just hilarious.

Also, I found the identity of Casanova very unsatisfying. For an ironic twist to work, you have to first get to know the culprit in a semi-sympathetic and trusting light. Ruskin was practically an unknown quantity to the reader, and learning his true nature had no more dramatic impact than if it had been any other of the several cops we barely met. Patterson doesn't even bother to explain the alibis which supposedly cleared him as a suspect in the first place.

Lastly, enough with the italics! I don't need to be told how to read the inflections in every paragraph. Maybe they were intended as stage directions for the book-on-tape.

Summary: Needlessly gory and poorly written as well
Review: It disturbs me to see how many reviewers, particularly females, raved about this book. This book contains some of the sickest sexual scenes I have ever read. I am not a prude, nor do I mind sex or violence in books if there is a reason for it. However, the sexual violence in this book is unnecessary and very disturbing. This is easily the worst book I ever read. I could not finish it and I regret even starting it. I would say it was one step shy of pornography of the sick variety. Judging from the reviews, however, many people are not offended by this sort of thing. People are entitled to their opinions but there are some things that simply should outrage us all. I'd recommend putting this book in the trash where it belongs.
