Rating: Summary: Clancy's best fictional work Review: This novel represents the best of what Tom Clancy has to offer: exciting, fairly clever plot filled with intrigue and suspense. As with others of Clancy's early books, he leaves out female characters (which he is completely inept at portraying in any event) and does a good job of getting us to root for Jack Ryan at the turn of every page. Very readable.
Rating: Summary: A little slow but good international intrigue Review: This book moves a little slowly, but the international intrigue and the political manuevering are fascinating. Clancy does have a major problem that does show up in this book. He tries to slip in characters from previous books into each book and ends up with contrived and pointless subplots. The whole subplot with the Russian captain from the Hunt for Red October is needless and boring.
Rating: Summary: A Little Different for Clancy Review: I love Clancy's work, but this one was a little different for me. I had to read it three times to fully appreciate it. It doesn't have all the action of his first three novels, but it still makes you think. It still has action, but you have to wait until the end. Still a very good book!
Rating: Summary: READ THIS NOW! Review: This is without a doubt the best spy novel i have ever read! If you love these types of books than you must read The Cardinal of the Kremlin! It is one of Clancy's best! And that is saying alot because I think he is among the top 5 writers today. If you are currently reading a book, drop it right now and read this! RIGHT NOW! ARE YOU READING IT YET? HURRY UP!
Rating: Summary: way below clancy's usual fare Review: It is not a complete loss, however, way below usual Clancy's level. Turn off pages are ones describing personal relationships in FSU (apparently Clancy does not know anything about it) they simply should be skipped because they did not add anything to the action either.Just an example of getting things wrong. One of the most ridiculous passages is related to Ryan seening a skating ring as the only place where mid 80's moskovites could have fun. Fun at the time was behind the dark windows of Moscow appartmets and it has all three necessary parts: booze, sex and excitment of playing with the danger of constantly violating numerous Stalin's period laws which were still on the books and some of them were even enforced from time to time.
Rating: Summary: Great Book-Like all of Clancy's other books Review: Great Book. A page-turner that will keep you busy for a while. Like always, a great book. Clancy is a very talented author. I hightly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: A True Spy Story Review: This book was masterfully written. A great story and very believable. When asked to comment on which book most likely happened he said this one. A must read for espionage fans and Clancy fans. The sequel to Red October it is terrific. Read it!
Rating: Summary: spoiler! Review: this is a spoiler so do not read if you have not read the book yet. it is a very good book which is full of action and characterization. i found myself rooting desperately for misha to escape and that jack would male it out and that the rebels would take the base. sorry got kinda carried away. anyhow this is a real page turner and will keep you on your feet.
Rating: Summary: Clancy's Best Novel Review: I think The Cardinal of the Kremlin is the best novel by Tom Clancy. While his other novels are also good (except for Debt of Honor, of which I was greatly disappointed), The Cardinal of the Kremlin is the only one where Clancy has had a combination of three-dimensional characters, a nice plot, gripping action, and a climax and epilogue that ties everything up perfectly. I think this book is the keystone of Clancy's Jack Ryan series, because it is so well researched and layed out. I hope he writes another novel just as good as this one.
Rating: Summary: Clancy at his best Review: This is one of his best works. Spying, sneaking around, espionage and counter-espionage. It would help if u have read Hunt for Red October but not necessary. Really a great piece of fiction.
