Summary: I like Clancy, but...
Review: I have never been into spy stories. I cannot stand the super gizmos and theft of papers and crap. I can tolerate Ludlum, though, since his are more of kill 'em and get the papers now that he is dead. This is a fairly good book-actually, its the best spy story I've read, but I like Clancy's war stories and action-packed books better. I do like the message he has: if the system is built, how-or if-will it be used? Read it, but I like his other stuff better.

Summary: One Of The Best Clancys Ever!
Review: This book goes through the elements of a spy's world. It is a very interesting book filled with suspense and action.

Summary: OKAY BOOK!
Review: "The Cardinal of the Kremlin" is a great book, but the first one-hundred pages or so, Clancy lacks the substance of action, suspense. Clancy lacked it so much I thought about dropping it. But finally, I came to the action of the book. And so the meaning of the three, yellow stars above this review. But the book does have the Clancy-substance, making it all the more interesting.

Summary: Another of Tom Clancy's master-pieces
Review: The (apparent) third book (chronologically) in the Jack Ryan series. Although all Tom Clancy books are long, they carefully explain everything about the technolgies involved so that even the most basic of readers can understand why something is being done. Like most Tom Clancy novels, Cardinal of the Kremlin is fast and furious, switching between Afghanistan, America and Russia as both sides rush to compromise enemy agents and save their own. This book heralds the return of Marko Ramius from Red October for a brief encore, and introduces two new reccuring characters, Mr "Clark" and Sergei Goloko.

Summary: Simply the best novel that Tom Clancy has written!
Review: I have read all of Clancy's novels, including Rainbow Six. Although it is very difficult to pick one over all the others, I would have to select The Cardinal of The Kremlin as his greatest work. Much of the Cold War era material doesn't really apply to today's world, but even that can't take away from the story. As always, Clancy fully develops his characters. His mastery is seen in the character of Misha most of all. Clancy allows the reader into the heart and soul of a Russian hero and allows us to understand how and why a great patriot can decide to betray his country. As in most of Clancy's novels Jack Ryan plays a central role.

Summary: Non-stop action from cover to cover.
Review: I thought The Cardinal of the Kremlin by Tom Clancy was very suspenseful. It was non-stop action from cover to cover. I greatly enjoyed reading it. Misha Filitov, a three time Hero of the Soviet Union and an aid to the Ministry of Defense, has been caught spying after thirty years. Jack Ryan and the CIA must formulate a plan to get Filitov out of the Soviet Union. Soviet and American intellegance and counterintellegance agencies match wits in the struggle for information. If you enjoy reading about the CIA, the KGB, or international politics, you will enjoy this book.

Summary: Realistic and true to form.
Review: The novel gives realistic espionage tactics. Not your typical James Bond, blow em up, get the girl, save the day action story, but it has true to life senarios. One of the best techno-thrillers I have ever read.

Summary: Incredible Book
Review: I have lots of Tom Clancy books, but this one, along with Clear and Present Danger and Patriot Games were definitely my favourites. Everything from the characters to the description of the satellite systems was incredible, and the book was very interesting. I recommend this book to anyone who is a Clancy fan.

Summary: Clancy is a genius!!!!!!
Review: Many people wonder why Clancy writes such long books. The answer is clear. Unlike authors like Michael Crichton, who write scripts for movies instead of books, Clancy writes for the reader. He puts so much info down that the book if worth more than the price for it. The Cardinal of the Kremlin is simply one of the best books I have ever read. It is suspenseful and entertaining, and the part where Clancy describes a series of spies transfering Russian secrets is pure genius. The description of Star War technology and the realistic characterization make this book a must read.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Less tech, more people.
Review: This is an anomolous Tom Clancy book -- and that's not a bad thing either. The Cardinal of the Kremlin, unlike other Clancy books, focuses less on the technology and more on the people -- especially the spies. I enjoyed this book immensely, though the ending is just a bit too tiddy for my liking and got wrapped up a bit quick. Otherwise, an interesting read.
