Summary: Good, but certainly not his Best
Review: As usual Dickey did a good job writing this book. It was very detailed and full of plots. As w/ all of his other novels, he made the characters seem realistic and alive. But what I didn't like & have noticed it in his other books, is how he portrays the male characters as being weak-minded individuals. There was so much that Vince took from Dana that any real black brotha would not have stood for. There was deception when the two first met. Honesty is always the best policy and what more to build a relationship on but HONESTY! I was hoping that there would have been a better story line for Vince and his daughter. All in all this book was enjoyable.

Summary: I enjoyed it, but it's not my EJD favorite!
Review: I am a really big fan of EJD's work. I have read each one of his works of art. While I enjoyed this book, I expected much more from Eric. This book kept me reading, but I was not particularly fond of the characters. Dana was my absolute least favorite. I expected Vince to be smarter or stronger. I suppose this is how real life is. I wonder what would have happened if Vince and Gerri hooked up? I still love his work and I can hardly wait for the next book.

Summary: Da Bomb
Review: Thanks for sharing this book with us. I really enjoyed the reality of it. Sometimes in life we worry so much about impressioning our mate that we don't focus on what's real. You showed us all the ugliness that can occur from one lie! Can't wait for your next release.

Summary: Funny but Touching Story
Review: first of all i have to say Mr EJD has done it again...all of his books are fantastic...i have read books that touched my heart but this one...so much emotions went through me that i couldnt put this book down...all the characters were interesting even juanita with her crazy ways lol...there are so many guys out there like vincent who do care about their kids and and are doing the best that they can in being in their lives. its really nice to read a book that not only focus on people trying to work out their relationships and clear out all those cobwebs in their closets but also on fathers who want to be in their children lives and want to do the right thing for them *S*

Summary: EJD has done it again but this time with a Liar's Game!
Review: Eric has done it again with Liar's Game. I never excepted anything less. This book was well worth the money. I was pulled into the drama that surrounded Naomi and Juanita and wondered when enough would be enough. The painful past that was cripling and haunting both Dana and Vince was enough to break anyones heart. I felt a sense of hope, renewal and compassion for Womack and Rosa Lee and their lives together. However, when it came to the whole Malaika, Kwanzaa and Vince situation my heartached and left me with a bitter taste in my mouth. I envied, applauded and praised Gerri for her sheer guts and determination. All and all the book pulled me in from beginning to end. It explores and shows you the the good, the bad and the ugly of what lies and being a liar will get you. I'm glad we chose this as our book club selection of the month and I truly look forward to our discussion of yet another Eric Jerome Dickey bestseller. This one being a Liar's Game.

Summary: Read On
Review: The only thing I hated about this book was that it had to come to an end. I absolutely LOVE Mr. Dickey's work. I have read every one of his books and learn to love his work everytime. Once again he has put together a great group of characters who make you laugh, think, and understand who they are. This was an excellent read, I can hardly wait for his next book. Keep up the good work Eric Jerome Dickey, you have a fan for life.

Summary: An entertaining beach read but not much else...
Review: Eric Jerome Dickey is a gifted writer who is able to capture the reader through both his snappy dialogue and his vivid, memorable characters. His niche is exploring relations between African-American men and women, and it's something that started with "Sister, Sister" and has built up to "Liar's Game." In the acknowledgements of "Liar's Game" the author claims in that he has tried to create an entirely new set of characters. However readers of his previous books will recognize Dana as a thinly disguised version of Chante from "Cheaters", who herself was a thinly disguised version of Shelby from "Friends and Lovers." All three women are self-centered, extremely unlikable women whose behavior at best is bizarre, and at worst is psychotic. Seeing this type of character in one book was fine, two books was irritating, but now three books is outrageous. The only purpose this character seems to serve is to shore up the theory that a good black man can't catch a break no matter how hard he tries. Unfortunately, Vince, the male character in "Liar's Game" only comes across as weak and indecisive. His and Dana's relationship is full of drama, and even given an author's flair for exaggeration, their decision to stay together is not at all convincing, as they say and do some terrible things to each other.

However, this book is a fast read and is entertaining in parts. The reader does come to care about the outcome and is eager to see how things turn out. However, for his next book, the author might want to serious think about getting out of the good-black-man-witchy-black-woman rut he's created for himself.

Summary: Liked It
Review: I liked the book deeply. It touched on major issues in african american relationships today. I just didn't like the way he ended the book. I wish he would go back to the endings of his first three novels. But Dickey is a good writer and i hope he keeps up the good work
