Rating: Summary: Liar's Game Review: This was the first EJD book I had read and I loved it. Kept my attention from beginning to end. I will be purchasing his other titles and am sure I will be equally satisfied.
Rating: Summary: Not one of his better books! Review: I have to say that I had a hard time getting into this one and I have loved all of Eric Dickey's books. I was a bit disapproved in this one but it did become interesting towards the end and I found myself rushing through that as well. I would suggest just going to the library for this one!
Rating: Summary: This book almost didn't get finished. Review: This book almost didn't get finished. It started off slow and BORING! It did eventually capture my attention with all the juicy drama that finally came.
Rating: Summary: Another Hit for Eric!! Review: I Loved this book just like I did all the other novels I have read by this author. This book covered all of the emotional boundries, saddness, happiness, love, anger, hatred. Some of the things that Dana did was shocking, but I was glad when Dana and Vince made up in the end. I was sorry the had book end, this is a must read that you don't want to put down.
Rating: Summary: Invigorating Read! Review: I have read ALL of EJD's books and I have to say this one is the BEST! The intensity captured is stimulating. It depicts every thought that crosses one's mind after the first meeting, the personal pleasure felt as the relationship progresses, the frustration as reality sets in and the anxiety felt as ultimate decision have to be made. Ladies and Gents, get yourself a glass of wine, set a nice warm bath, sit down and enjoy this invigorating read!!
Rating: Summary: Liars Game Review: This Book was a trip. It was funny and how it came out could have been different but it was still a good ending
Rating: Summary: Finally the truth has been spoken!!!! Review: I must begin by saying it is uncany how much EJD can relate to women. This book hit many of the different issues our men and women come to face with everyday. Many of us are so afraid to "BE FOUND OUT" we create a fantasy lifestyle in which we pretend to live in. Who better to make light of this serious situation other than EJD. Though I must say THIS IS NOT the best book EJD has written. It is wonderful. I am about to order BETWWEN LOVERS today. I CANT WAIT!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Good Enough Review: I recently snatched this book off of the shelf as soon as it came out in paper back. The book wasn't a page turner like most of his novels have been for me but overall it was a good book. I would recommend this book as a good read, although it doesn't top Milk or Sister, Sister
Rating: Summary: A major disappointment! Review: I was once a huge fan of Mr. Dickey. In my opinion, his early writing definitely raised the bar in the genre of African American fiction. I don't understand what happened. Since Milk in My Coffee, his work has sunken to the level of the writers he once wrote circles around. Liar's Game is a prime example. The plot is weak, the characters weaker and the writing is sophomoric at best. Lia's Game fluctuates between being overwritten and underwritten, leaving the reader feeling both frustrated and disappointed. On several occasions I found myself asking "Who would say this???" I don't know if Mr. Dickey is feeling pressure from his publishers to crank out more stories but it definitely feels that way. I wish he would slow down and write more of the great fiction that made us love him in the first place.
Rating: Summary: SNOWBALL EFFECT Review: After taking an Eric Jerome Dickey hiatus, I don't think that I could have found a better novel to usher me back into the fold. I have to say that The Liar's Game was a "snowball" of a book in the sense that it began relatively slow, but increased in size and momentum to the point that I was so riveted, I found it impossible to put down. And what interesting characters!VINCE: Most of us know a Vince; a seemingly great guy, with "luggage" from past relationships, of both the physical and mental kind. We all have to sympathize with him and the difficulties that his ex-wife if presenting where their child is concerned. Although he loves Dana, the ghost of his love for Malaika is haunting their relationship. DANA: She's all of us, most of us. She is fresh from a disappointing relationship with a guy she truly loved; he is her spectre. Her insecurites with respect to her relationship with Vince are a direct result of that past damaging love interest. CLAUDIO: Every woman has had her Claudio. The suave, cool bad boy that we all adore who can only promise to disappoint us in the end. The finale in the novel is a burst of fireworks, and will leave you with your mouth open! Congratulations to Mr. Dickey on a fabulous read...I've already ordered the new novel.
