Summary: I'd Rather Laugh
Review: I felt this book gave an interesting look at human behavior in trying to block out adversity. I felt it was done with great warmth, and with a lot of humor. I found it to be very enjoyable and fast reading. I would most definitely recommend this book.

Summary: LINDA'S WONDERFUL, DISCUSS
Review: I just finished reading I'D RATHER LAUGH and not only have I not stopped laughing, but I feel the need to spread the word that this is one (excellent) book! Forget the TV show, Linda Richman is a true Survivor. She shares her most personal story to make others realize that there is very little the human spirit can't overcome. Her wisdom and insights are the stuff that many psychiatrists and psychologists only wish they could have. Bravo to Linda for having the heart to share her sorrow so that others could feel better. Buy it, share it and keep on laughing.

Summary: I'd Rather Laugh.
Review: Let's cut to the chase: This is the worst book I've ever bought from Amazon and I've bought a roomful. I forced myself to finish reading it only so I was sure I didn't stop before the insight started. Two hundred and twenty three pages later I'm sure Linda Richman needs help more than 99% of the people that will read this book. Too bad it doesn't come with a money back guarentee! Its no wonder Mike Myers of Saturday Night Live based his hilarious "Coffee-Talk" on this woman. What she thinks is insight and self help is funny. She should be reading self-help books not writing them. Examples: Chapter 6 "how to throw a pity party" how does this woman suggest dealing with depression. Going to bed for two full days and watching the saddest, most depressing movies you can find. That's psycho-babble for "hair of the dog". How do you deal with phobias: don't look here this woman has phobias about her teeth. Need we have a whole chapter about her fear of losing her teeth (she goes to the dentist every three months and insists he, not the dental hygeinist, clean her teeth.) I love books and respect the effort and work an author puts into creating a manuscript. Look elsewhere in the "self-help" section. Ms. Richman is over her head and deals the reader nothing but schmaltz!

Summary: A GUIDE TO FLOURISH IN LIFE
Review: Reading Linda Richman is like talking on the phone with your aunt. The warm conversation gives you perspective and encouragement to survive and flourish in your own life. Also she gives you practical tools on how to get rid of any mental and emotional garbage that lessen your joy in life.

Summary: This one will leave you laughing out loud
Review: Although many of us have gone through terrible trying times in our live, no one has the ability to make us seriously analyze them like Linda. AS she talks about her experiences, she tries to convey advice that we should all use in our daily lives. You just can't help feeling good about yourself, and life after reading this book. Aside from the fact, that you will spend endless hours laughing at her humor. We all have a bit of Linda in us, we just needed her to show us. U go Linda!!!

Summary: The Human Spirit at It's Best
Review: This is a book for everyone. It will show you that even when life gets you down you have the power to rise up again. Linda Richman is an amazing woman. It must be a unique privilege to know her. She is to be admired for her strength and courage. Her ability to laugh again after being faced with some of life's most difficult adversities will be an inspiration to everyone who reads this book. It will give you hope that you too can laugh again no matter what life has in store for you. One of the things that touched me deeply was the desperation she felt and the things she did to hold on to her sanity and find her way back to living after her son's tragic death. However, her wonderful style of humor keeps the book uplifting and ever hopeful. I loved reading this book and Linda's easy writing style. I highly recommend this book and after you have read it you will feel as though you have made a new friend in Linda.

Summary: I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
Review: I was recommended to reading this book by a friend, so I bought it to make my friend happy. But I made myself happy too. This is a book for anyone who wants to feel good about life. Linda Richman is a female mensch. She has gone through such pain in her life that you shouldn't know from. She's a tough lady who has a heart of gold. What I got from this book is that no matter what you have going in your life, you can always find something to laugh and smile about. Nobody goes through life without pain and this easy to read book teaches you how to cope with the pain. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to feel better about themselves and their lives. I thank the author for sharing the details of her life with the reader and I wish the rest of her life to be filled with lots of laughter.

Summary: EnJoyable!
Review: While Linda Richman had a lot of bad times, she used everything to create a better life for herself and the world. This extraordinary woman dealt with agoraphobia, the untimely death of her child and a myriad of other travails and worked tirelessly to change her life.

The greatest part about this book is that she shares the things that she has done to lift herself and that she has taught others at one of the most exclusive spas in the world. Pretty impressive woman.

You go Linda!

Summary: I Laughed, I Cried, I Loved It!
Review: Richman has written a moving testament to the human spirit and it's capacity to overcome tragedy. She writes with clarity, understanding, and, most of all, humor. I loved this book!

Summary: I couldn't relate
Review: I read about 2-3 books a month and I decided to pick this up as one of my books to read for the month.

Since the title is "I'd rather laugh: How to be happy even when life has other plans for you" I was expecting some good advice and heart-felt stories on what to do when life has other plans for me.

This book only and mainly deals with death of someone you love and not much else about life. There's more to life challenges than losing someone (I guess that is the point the book is trying to make, but didn't do a good job). The book wasn't well written and not well organized. It seems like the lady just babels on (but I guess that is why Linda is popular. It's her style and everybody likes that. She makes you feel like you are talking to someone on your level).

Overall, there were some inspiring stories in the book and I think people who has recent death of a family member will be able to relate and like the book. When you are in that situation, you only want someone to talk to and understand what you are going through. You want someone to cry with and someone who knows what you feel inside. Although this book wasn't a well written book, it serves that purpose.

If you want a casual good reading material, this is not it.
