Summary: Mediocre at best . . .
Review: A massive diasappointment and a waste of $13.I love the Seal series that Suzanne Brockmann creates. It's full of passion and wonderful men that you just can't help but fall in love with (yes, even Jules!) With very few exceptions, I love her writing. Unfortuately for me and my pocketbook, this is one of those exceptions. I had been eagerly anticipating the next novel in the series, and, when I heard that it was about Sam and Alyssa, I debated long and hard and decided to buy the hardcover, instead of waiting desperately for it to become available in the library or as a paperback. Sadly, this novel only rehashes the glimpses of Sam and Alyssa that made them so wonderful as a subplot in previous books. There is no substance, I felt no passion, and in fact, I couldn't read through it all. I read the first two chapters, jumped to the end, flipped through the book, and was so disappointed that I put the book down. I had no inclination to read it until my guilt over spending that much money (poor college student) forced me to try to get my money's worth. I'm a readacholic and a fast one at that. If I like the book, I will sit there and avidly read for 3 hours until I'm done. I wasn't even willing to spend another ten minutes looking for an appearance of Jules or a sex scene. The one bonus: Gina and Max are brought up again and they are so wonderful. If this book is any indication, I *never* want them to have their own book. Final nail in the coffin: I never got my rebate. Final words of advice: Wait for your library to get this book. Don't buy it. It's worth a trip to the library to stock up on this and other books, but not worth the money.

Review: Navy Seal Sam Starrett hasn't had a word from his ex-wife yet on their divorce. He travels to Florida hoping to convince her to go on and sign the papers. When he arrives at her sister's house he discovers the body of a murdered women on the floor of the kitchen. She's been there several days but from the hair color and size it sure looks like Mary Lou- but where is their little 2 year old Haley? After looking around the house himself being careful not to disturb anything, there's no baby! Sam calls his contact with the FBI. It's made to look like a robbery but not all of the pieces fit. FBI agent Alyssa Locke is put in charge of the investigation. Sam and Alyssa apparently go wayyyyyyyy back. Sam and Alyssa's relationship was one that was powerful but brief due to Mary Lou caming up pregnant. Sam wanted to do the right thing by marrying Mary Lou. Bad situation! Now Sam and Alyssa are thrown together again in a tough working situation with emotional and physical sparks flying. I don't want to say too much and give some of the story away. Is the woman Mary Lou and if not where is she and Haley? With terrorist tension high and with certain evidence- could this be a terrorist act and how will this affect Sam and his career? There are several other stories going on too as well to follow... Sam's Seal commander, Tom Paoletti- accused of aiding terrorists and his live-in girlfriend Kelly who gets involved trying to prove Tom's innocence; FBI negotiator Max Bhagat, Alyssa's Boss- dealing with his feelings for Alyssa and Gina, a younger woman who was taken as hostage during a terrorist attack and feeling threatened having Alyssa and Sam working together; Noah Gaines and his grandfather, Sam's black childhood friend who played a vital part in Sam's growing up and career choice. Well there's just a lot going on. Great story! At times a little confusing with there being so much going on. It was my first of this series to read and from reading the other reviews I wonder if it would have been easier to follow if I had read the previous books. But it is still a good one. Sam needs his mouth washed out with soap. A little dirty talking is expected but Sam's was unnecessary and that did get OLD! It is definitely not a "one-sitting" read and it might be a little slow in the beginning for some- but hang in there (it's like a roller coaster- making that "up hill climb" it is slow at first but then there is that drop) and things really get going. I am headed not to get the previous books to read! Yea, I would recommend it!

I didn't care about Tom and Kelly.
Needless to say, I was ready to throw the book before the first 100 pages.

Summary: It was unbelievably dissappointing
Review: Like many fans of SB, I had been anxiously awaiting Gone Too Far. As much as I loved Sam and Alyssa in previous books, I did not like either one in this one. Those of us who have read previous books, know that Sam does not have the cleaniest language. However, I was truly distracted by the number of times the F-word was used. (I lost count after 75) It was not funny. And Alyssa, when did this character become so cruel and weepy. Give me a break! The other distracting thing was the heart-to-heart conversations these two characters had during the weirdest points in the story. By the end of the book I could care less if they finally got together. The Tom and Kelly part was like an aberration. This guy is suppose to be a pretty straight arrow. Who would believe he was a terrorist? Max was so annoying. I don't know why Gina continues to want this guy. I thought Out of Control was an annoying story line, but this one beat it by a long shot. My advise to any one considering buying this book is to get from your local library. Save your money for some other book.

Summary: Well worth waiting for!!!!
Review: I'd give it a perfect 10 stars if possible. I try to never buy hardcover books because they don't travel well. I was dying to read this book about Sam & Alyssa so I bought it instead of waiting for the paperback. I know some of the reviews have called this not one of her best books but I totally disagree. If you've never read one of her books about SEAL Team Sixteen you may be lost for a while, but as far as I'm concerned you just need to read all of this series and get the thrill of your life. This is one of Suzanne's best series and I'm just sorry it may be over. Come on Suzanne there has to be someone you left out and need to write about in your next book.

Review: The reviewers of this book that complain about it must be nuts! Gone Too Far by Suzanne Brockmann, was an excellent story. Probably, the best in this series so far! Ignore the bad reviews and buy the book! I notice on some of the books I have been reading lately (especially, the ones who get slammed) the reviews seem personal in nature and meanspirited. I wish Amazon didn't allow those type of reviews to be posted. It is not a nice thing to do!

Summary: GONE TOO FLAWED
Review: Yes, we were all looking forward to Sam and Alyssa's story. Yes, this is an excellent series. But in common with many other reviewers, I feel that there are too many story lines going on in GONE TOO FAR. You never can settle back with the book, because it jumps around every few pages. Also, this book keeps going back to previous books in the series. I had trouble remembering who Ms. Brockman was talking about. Maybe it would help to go back and read three or four of the previous books in the series prior to reading this one. In any event, it was hard to get through the book. I usually read a book in one sitting, but this one took me several days. Hopefully, Ms. Brockmann's next one will be an improvement.

Summary: HUGE Letdown!!!
Review: I have been anticipating Sam and Alyssa's story since their first sighting in UNSUNG HERO. However, when I finally read the book, there was hardly anything of Sam and Alyssa'a romantic relationship in it. There were so many story lines going on that there wasn't time for Sam & Alyssa. Though I am a huge S. Brockmann fan, I just don't think this book delivers the same intense passion and action as the ones that came before it. It definitely wasn't worth the paperback dollars, let alone Hardback money. I can only hope the next installment will redeem Ms. Brockmann, as I have greatly enjoyed this series(up until now).

Summary: Oh its finally here
Review: It seems like a lifetime ago that we met Sam and Alyssa. Through several books we watched their ups and downs. Now in Gone Too Far they get their story. Its is well worth the wait. Sam Starrett is on his way to see his soon to be ex-wife and young daughter. What he finds at her house is horrific. It sets off a chain of events that rocks Team 16. Alyssa Locke gets dragged back into Sam's world. She realizes that she is his only hope to clearing his name and finding his daughter. The resolution of Sam and Alyssa's story has everything you want in a book. I can't recommend it enough, hurry and get this book.

Summary: Very good if you have read some of the other in series
Review: This was an excellent book but I could see it being very confusing for people that have never read any of the other SEAL 16 books. Brockmann's way of writing is to intertwine a few story lines and jump around. I enjoy that kind of writing but some find it confusing. All of her stories cover all the bases of tears, laughter and emotion. The characters are interesting and you really love them. That said, I would not recommend this book to anyone that hasn't read the whole series or at least following books:
1. The Unsung Hero
2. Over the Edge
3. Into the Night
If you have read these books, the story is much more easy to follow and well worth the wait. I personally loved "The Unsung Hero" and Over the Edge but "Into the Night" was a little slow but it is definitely a part one to "Gone to Far". I just found Suzanne Brockmann's books and really love how she works a story. Hope you do too!
