Summary: Got it in time for vacation - it was the best part :-)
Review: If Suzanne Brockmann has written a lousy or even kind of blah book I haven't read it. Oops, I've searched out and purchased everything she's written - and read them several times. I would imagine that all her Navy Seal devoted fans have been gnawing knuckles over the Sam Starrett/Alyssa Locke heartbreak for some time, hoping for a resolution. I found the story line to be right up there as usual - couldn't put it down, lots of action and intrigue. Sam's ex-wife Mary Lou actually showed smarts I didn't know she had, and I found her very likeable. As Sam's history developed, I thought the fact that he missed his baby daughter Haley made a lot of sense. I very much liked that his character now truly wants to make sure she grows up with a daddy she knows and loves, and is loved in return.

I am always happy to see beloved characters from other books in a series; it's like old friends dropping in for a surprise visit. And too, I remember that these Seals are ultra close and generally arrive when one of their own needs them.

The one thing - Max Bahgat underneath was nothing that I imagined. I still am not sure how I feel about his character as he reveals himself in the story. I can say it made the book more interesting just based on the surprise factor alone. Read it and go hmmmmm.

Buy it, read it dozens of times, and keep it always. I can honestly say that if these Arizona fires threaten my home I have a case with handle full of my Suzanne Brockmann's near the door by my photos - ready to grab.

Summary: Disappointed
Review: I've thoroughly enjoyed all of Brockmann's previous books, but this novel was a disappointment. Several elements of the novel are unbelievable, particularly Sam's worry over his missing daughter. He seems much more concerned about reviving his relationship with Alyssa than about finding his ex-wife and baby girl. I had trouble feeling sympathy for Sam because he spends more time thinking about having sex with Alyssa than he does thinking about what could be happening to his baby girl. In fact, Alyssa, who has never even seen the child, seems more concerned about Haley than Sam does.
When Mary Lou is finally found, she has found a job that is really far-fetched. Who hires a woman with no references to be an au pair to a teenage girl who just happens to be a crack shot?
The conclusion of the novel felt rushed. After following their story through two novels, I really wanted some closure for Sam and Mary Lou. Except for a brief exchange during the climax, they never have a significant conversation. Frankly, Brockmann juggles too many storylines.
Finally, if you've never read a Brockmann novel before, don't start with this one.

Summary: Brockmann is Back!
Review: I am not going to bore you with a synopsis of the book. Instead I am going to tell you why you have to own this title. I have been a Suz Brockmann fan from WAY back in the 'Loveswept' days and own almost everything ever published (darn Loveswept for making Ladies Man a subscriber exclusive). The last two books by Suz have been just sorta 'ok' and honestly, I was ready for her to make a change from the SEAL line, but this book has brought me back hoping for more stories from the guys of Team 16 and the 'new business' (you have to read the book to know what I am talking about). Typically Suz's full length novels are a little overcrowded with simultaneous story lines and frankly, the WWII stories had dragged most of the other books in this series down for me. But this novel has it all: a great Hero and Heroine, fast pacing, excellently interwoven sub-plots and a touching WWII story that fits nicely with the rest of the book. Now, I will say that if you are sensitive to cursing this might not be the book for you, because there is A LOT of cursing. You can't help but root for Sam and Alyssa and their journey is not an easy one. Mary Lou fans will be pleased as well. The story had me laughing and even crying a little. You won't be able to put it down and it is worth the hardcover rate. Don't pay attention to the Kirkus Review. Obviously they only skimmed the story because some of what they said is not close to the mark. I checked out their website and it seems sarcastic reviews are their stock and trade. Way to go, Suz! Please write faster!!!!

Summary: A Clever and Fun Read
Review: This was my first Suzanne Brockmann novel and it was a good one. I like how she gave you the backround story of Alyssa and Sam. Even with his language you felt for the guy and laughed at his thoughts and actions.

I thought the end came about rather quickly with everything wrapping up in a neat bow. However, it was a very good book

Summary: Absolutely Worth the Wait!
Review: I have enjoyed the Sam and Alyssa storyline although I was not quite at the level of fan intensity that I've seen around the 'net--particularly after Into the Night, where Sam came off looking SO bad, I wondered how he could be redeemed. I was very pleased with the resolution of the whole storyline in GONE TOO FAR. Moreover the suspense aspect had me literally unable to put this book down til I finished it. One warning, if you are NOT a fan of the extended-over-several-books-relationship-buildup, another arc begins in this book that will be going for several, so if Sam & Alyssa had you in despair, there's more of the same coming. But I'll be there!

Summary: Not what was expected! But, still a must read story!!
Review: As an answer to the reviewer who did not get what she expected, I share some of her thoughts. The usual suspense, drama and sparks really are not in this book. It almost does not qualify as a romance. But, for Suzanne Brockmann fans and fans of this series, this is a must read book. It does put an end to a lot of story lines. Also, it was very interesting looking in to Sam's background and reading the story of his up bringing.
As far as romances goes, it was sort of dull (except for Max and Gina). This book is well worth the money.

Summary: 5 ++ stars
Review: I would give this book more than 5 stars if possible. I have been a devoted fan of this series and actually started reading Gone Too Far with a lot of unease...knowing this was probably the last since it was Sam and Alyssa's book. True to form I was glued from cover to cover biting my nails the entire way. As one that actually did not dislike Mary Lou (yes, she had a lot of problems...but then didn't Sam??!), I was glad to see her return and find out what happened to Ihbraham. Lots of loose ends were tied neatly up from Into the Night (not the best in the series but necessary to fully LOVE Gone Too Far).
Again...5++ stars from a devoted Suz fan!

Summary: A great book but a little bit of a let down
Review: I'm not sure if it's because I was waiting so anxiously for this book that I felt let down or if it was because it just wasn't as good as the other books in this series. I have been waiting for Sam and Alyssa to get back together and I was so ready for this book! Don't get me wrong, it's another great story by Suzanne Brockmann but I felt like Sam should have had to work for Alyssa a bit more after how badly he had hurt her in the previous books.Plus Mary Lou could have stood on her head and sang the Star Spangle Banner and I'd still hate her. But all in all this book is another great story in Ms. Brockmann's Seal Series and well worth the $$.

Summary: After a long wait...disappointed
Review: I have been waiting for the story of Sam and Alyssa for 2 years! The glimpses of their relationship have been some of the best parts of SB's other books and finally, she wrote their story. I was so disappointed. Sam's character suddenly turned so sensitive that he wasn't recognizable and the "Ringo" storyline was boring. I would have been happy to wait longer for this book to be published, in return for a solid story. Every loose end was so conveniently tied up, it became tedious! Right down to Mary Lou gushing "I'm getting married too!".

I am a big Suzanne Brockmann fan. My favorites are Over The Edge and Into the Night - probably because of the foreplay to Sam and Alyssa's relationship! I wish that SB had taken more time to write this book - it had the potential to be fantastic.

Summary: Terrible!!!
Review: There was nothing to like about this book. It had a contrived plot (several of them, actually) and was cliche-ridden from the very beginning.

The "evil" Admiral Tucker for one. He was textbook villain, right down to being a bit of a perv in Chapter 1. The trailer park? Could it have been any more of a cookie-cutter creation? We're talking mean dogs, trash littered all over the place, trailer resident who happens to be a drunk prostitute who doesn't change her clothes or bathe regularly. There were the convenient plot devices (faulty condom to force a pregnancy), and those storylines that beg readers to suspend belief (SEAL commander is taken into custody for questioning in a 1+ year-old terrorism case conveniently while everyone who can aid in his defense is out of the country; most of the plot takes place in FL where the head FBI agent can conveniently meet with the girl he's desperately attracted to; Sam's father is the requisite Texas redneck who abuses his son for being friends with a black boy; etc). The black boy's grandparents are an interracial couple who made waves in their town during the 1950's. We're expected to believe that they never had adulterous thoughts towards one another during his marriage to to her best friend before the best friend conveniently died. Then on top of that we're expected to believe that this black man put the fear of God into those Texas rednecks and prevented any racial attacks against himself and his family.

We're supposed to believe that the two main characters will live happily ever after. They do nothing but fight (about nothing important) and Alyssa tries her best (and succeeds) to be as cruel as she can possibly be towards Sam in order to continue seeing him cry. Sam, meanwhile, is a whiny pain in the backside who revels in being mistreated so he'll continue to have something to cry about.

As a secondary couple, we're supposed to believe in the happily ever after of the SEAL commander (who's in custody) and his live-in love. Who suddenly decides it's unacceptable that she can't visit her lover because she's not legally his wife. So she hires a justice, shows up to his prison in a wedding gown and marries him. To prove she loves him. Sounds more like selfishness to me.

Finally there's Mary Lou, who runs away with her daughter and becomes an au pair in a wealthy residence with the bratty daughter and her baby. As with the last book, Into the Night, Mary Lou stole the show for a good portion of the book. Ihbraham comes back to life and the bad guy meets his demise.

The WWII story, which is generally one of the more enjoyable parts of Brockmann's books, wasn't even remotely exciting. There was nothing to like about this book, and I just don't understand all of the reviews it's been getting. I have to agree with one of the other reviewers that people can not be that honest when they give it 5 stars or an A. I suspect that people are either in denial that this book isn't a good one or they're just so happy to finally have Sam and Alyssa's story that they don't care. This book was utterly predictable, but worse, it required those who haven't read this series to read the books prior to this one. I don't care what anyone says; that smacks completely of manipulation of the author (who wrote the story) and the publisher (who took it in hardcover with this long-awaited book).

Now it appears that Max and Gina and their 20+ year age gap will be a long drawn-out affair as well. No thank you. People may have different reading tastes, but there are quality romance books out there and Brockmann's latest offering definitely isn't one of them. Forget the rebate; this book is going back to the store. After the decline in storytelling beginning with Into the Night and continuing on with Gone Too Far, I won't have any problems waiting for this book to become available from the library, much less waiting for the paperback.
