Summary: how did she break out of the asylum?
Review: Ann Coulter is scary. She is obviously psychotic. She also doesn't know the "truth" when it hits her in the head. She's a model for the wicked right in only that she is cute and blond. This women is an uncle tom and a retarded one at that. Complete rubbish.

Summary: Angry white woman
Review: I'll be honest, I never read this book. There, I said it. But I feel compelled to point out that during an appearance on MSNBC, Ms. Coulter had the nerve to blame an injured Vietnam vet (in a wheelchair, no less) that "people like [him]" are the reason the U.S. lost the Vietnam War.

Like I said, I did not read this book. But anyone who takes her venomous hate-mongering to heart should know what kind of a person she really is.

I guess I could be considered liberal, but I do acknowledge the existence of intelligent, thoughtful and empathetic conservatives. She ain't one of them, but she's really doing a disservice to those conservatives who actually have sound principles and IQs of more than 15.

Why has this country become so polarized? Ask Ms. Coulter.

Summary: Very Entertaining, but Lacking in Substance
Review: I love Ann Coulter; I think she is one of the most entertaining people on television and in print. I even brought her to Colby College to give a speech on the rights of the Boy Scouts. This however, was not one of her best works.

I finished the book in about 2 hours, and was thoroughly entertained, but there was not a lot of substance. I was hoping for something more like her previous book "High Crimes and Misdemeanors," but was a little disappointed.

If you're looking for some excellent liberal bashing beach reading, this is an excellent choice. If however you are looking for something that will be a little more intellectually engaging, try again.

Summary: Hypocrisy and Rhetoric
Review: Amazon.com calls it irony that this author says "liberals prefer invective to engagement" and then declares, "The good part of being a Democrat is that you can commit crimes, sell out your base, bomb foreigners, and rape women, and the Democratic faithful will still think you're the greatest." I call it hypocrisy.

After reading "Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right" by Al Franken, I thought I'd read this book to get a different perspective. As much as I liked Franken's book (quite a lot), I disliked this book. Although I didn't agree completely with the perspectives of either of the authors, I found Franken's book to be interesting and entertaining. He actually had research, statistics, and first-hand knowledge of what he was writing about. I found Coulter's book to be a continual stream of whining about the shenanigans and rhetoric of politicians from the left. Here's a clue: politicians from BOTH sides of the political spectrum exaggerate, oversimplify, and, generally, make mistakes.

As for the press, I'm unconvinced that there is any broad political bias by the press. Each party seems to possess individuals who are effective in "spinning" things their own way. I think the press feeds into this by polarizing views in order to simplify the debate. Deborah Tannen does an excellent job of making a point about this in her book, "The Argument Culture: Moving from Debate to Dialogue."

Summary: Oh Please...
Review: Anne Coulter, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, and Bill O'Rielly. They are all the same. They make millions by distorting the facts they "research" and then taking millions of quotes made by brilliant democrats out of context. This book should be called "Why I Slander" You don't have to like him but read Al Franken. At least his books are researched by Harvard Law Graduates.

Summary: Slander?
Review: Slander: Liberal Lies about the American Right, by writing Slander about the American Left? Is it just me, or is that Irony?

Summary: Intellectual? Give me a break.
Review: I used to wonder how someone who spouts such bigoted trash as does Ann Coulter could ever be considered an "intellectual." It has since become clear to me that it does indeed take a very devious and deviant kind of intellectual to dumb down, with such unerring consistency, all this vile and bigoted, clichéd trash to where it can be swallowed hook line and sinker, without eliciting so much as a gag reflex, by so many millions of the uneducated. Incapable of formulating their own opinions, they learn by rote these clichés, and then *think* they have an opinion.

Millions of gullible and simple minds in lockstep, gobbling up fast-food for the mind, dancing to the strings of masters playing them like millions of marionettes. Does not bode well for the future of democracy in this country.

Summary: Destroys Those of Propoganda Bent in Media
Review: This is another excellent expose of one of the true, powerful destroyers of everything good about America, the media. The left is good, we must admit it and this book exposes it, at not debating the issues or truthfulness of an incident, but rather spinning and namecalling until one becomes so sick and tired ot it. Thus, America is not at all impressed nor trustworthy of mainstream media anymore, with the exception of Fox News. God bless that we have them around.

Her analysis of a madeup "Christian right" and the reluctance of publishers to print conservative books is truly worth the cost of this and reading it and keeping it around.

For me the best punch was the shot she made about the dog food executive who laments not selling as much dog food as he would like, proclaiming we're doing it all right with our image and promotion, but why, why aren't the consumers buying it. The answer: the dogs just don't like it!

The liberals don't get it: the stupid, moronic, Christian right that comprises most of America just doesn't like their thinking and ideas and governance.

Keep 'em honest. Ann, we'll listen and follow when it matches up with the facts.

Summary: WHAT A !@$#@ING LIAR!!
Review: When I first read this book, I had to respectfully disagree with Coulter's insane ramblings. And then I read Al Franken's "Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them." I discovered that most of the material in slander is inaccurate. Coulter misrepresents and falsifies her sources and evidence throughout the book. Read the second and third chapters in Franken's book. You'll see what a liar she is. Making outrageous claims is one thing, but using false evidence to back them up is another. This is ridiculous. For instance, (and this is one of umpteen examples), Coulter claims that, because of the liberal bias in the media, southern (and therefore conservative) activities and entertainment are not given proper coverage. For instance, she is outraged at the fact that the New York Times did not cover the story of Dale Earnhardt's death until two days after it occurred, which shows how liberally biased the media, since stock car racing is mainly enjoyed by conservatives. Instead of responding to this ridiculous statement myself, I'll let Al Franken handle it: "Pretty powerful indictment, I have to admit. No mention for two days! One small problem. Dale Earnhardt died on February 18, 2001. On February 19, 2001, which by my calculation is the next day, the Times ran a front-page account of Earnhardt's death written by sportswriter Robert Libsyte under the headline: "Stock Car Star Killed on Last Lap of Daytona 500." He then shows an actual photograph of the February 19 edition of the Times. He goes on to say, "Frankly, I think the fact that The NEw York Times did have a front-page article on Dale Earnhardt the day after he died kind of undercuts her point that they didnt." It boggles the mind how many more falsities and misrepresentations and lies there are in this book and its "evidence." They are gone over in detail in Franken's book. Frankly, anyone who reads Franken's book and still takes Coulter seriously is an idiot, and is taking up space on this planet that could be used for something more valuable, like a chia pet. Read his book. Conservative or not, it's pretty tough to argue with his evidence (which, unlike Coulter's, is entirely factual).

Summary: Ann Coulter's truths about the American Left
Review: Review of Ann Coulter's book, "Slander."

The more I read the bitter responses to Ann Coulter's writing, the more I like her. True enough, she can be downright acerbic in her witty sarcasm. This is hardly cause to write off a viewpoint and the soberly stated arguments that back it.

I was somewhat surprised when I read this book. I had often seen reviews and commentary to the effect that she was an "extremist Right Wing nut." It turns out that between some well stated and funny caractitures of the Left's arrogance and historical monopoly over the media (till recent years), Coulter argues her case with professional insight, intellect, and facts. It's hard to deny Coulter's main point regarding the dishonest treatment that is typically directed at anyone who wants lower taxes or favors a smaller, less intrusive government. Indeed, simply having a conservative view has typically been caracterized by the coastal elites as "extreme, crazy, selfish, greedy, authoritarian," and unworthy of consideration. The left still doesn't seem to get the reality that there are a lot of decent, intelligent, compassionate people out there who don't neccessarily want a larger social-welfare state or more regulations over personal behavior in the name of a contrived "equality." In the post 9/11 era, conservatives are also less sympathetic to the pampered clique that has repeatedly shown sympathy for ruthless Marxist tyrants and, now, Islamo-fascists.

Coulter can be brutaly direct, but such manner has certainly not been lacking from "the other side."

This book is a groundbreaking, needed exposure of the phony, closet authoritarian worldview that until recently, ruled over most of Academia, public schools, entertainment, and the media (and, aside from some alternatives in the media, still does).

Anyone who fails to note that "she has a point" is either sleeping or still hopelessly dedicated to the romantic idealism of socialist "revolution."

Coulter's message to the Left is that there is an entire population of Americans out there who, with good cause, don't agree with it.

Coulter has shown that the views of middle-America are valid and will no longer be silenced by the "progressive" elite.
