Rating: Summary: Ann Coulter: Right Wing Loony Review: If you like intense, non-stop, completely unfounded rants about "liberals," Ann Coulter is your girl. She leaves very little to the imagination and from the start, she savages anyone to the left of her on the political spectrum (which includes everyone in America besides herself, Sean Hannity, Rush, and Jerry Falwell.) Her use of end notes is relentless, causing mass confusion when one wants to refer to her sources. I think Al Franken put it best in chapter 3 of his newest book, "Lies, and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them." I'll let everyone check that one out for themselves. Ann's premise is to lump together all liberals as haters of America. I respect anyone who has an opinion and can back it up with facts. However, Ann hasn't the slightest idea how to write an interesting, informative book and her shameful attempt in "Slander" is a good example of her complete and utter contempt for those on the left who are doing great things for this country. I would recommend NOT reading this book, and to avoid Ann Coulter at all costs.
Rating: Summary: IN the event of fire... Review: In the event of fire but more likely smoke:I am in a difficult position here. I was at a booksale and there were a number of these books heading for the paper shredder. I bought one for a dollar fifty and used it as a makeshift umbrella. Needless to say the ink ran. My amateur writing wannabe ego soared during those moments when I glanced at the pages stuck to my shoe. What I could see was a multitude of footnotes so it was obviously true; that it was in the fiction section of the sale showed a blur of truth and fiction. My cup of tea--catchy title, cover picture for the health professional and one hell of a hallucinationto tell. I knew at that point that I could really be a writer after all-I just needed a lot of and footnotes and bravado. The difficult part here is to advise you, no admit, that the next day, hearing that another month of winter was at hand, I braved the throngs of shoppers and rescued 4 copies from the pyre that several bibliofiles had created to stay warm. Dare say, it was all smoke, no fire. My copies made lousy firewood although I swear I could hear a shrill righteous scream coming from the embers.
Rating: Summary: Typical Republican Hysteria Review: Proves over and over she has Karl Rove on speed dial. What a moronic piece of babbling. She did manage to title it right, "Slander", appropriate coming from the Queen herself.
Rating: Summary: Guilty of the same Slander she accuses others of! Review: First let me begin by saying that I am what most people would label a Conservative. Anne Coulter would probably say that the liberal media would group me in with the extreme Religious Right. I wouldn't classify my self as such as I like to think I am still capable of voting for issues and candidates based on other things beside party affiliation. I have admired Anne Coulter for sometime. I first became aware of her during the impeachment process for President Clinton. She was a frequent guest commentator on the various news networks and I found her to be quite knowledgeable about the impeachment process. Through the years I've continued to see her on various television shows and when I heard about her book SLANDER I thought I'd give it a try. SLANDER, to it's credit, does a good job of illustrating how the media, especially the 3 major networks and leading news print media favor liberal politicians and issues. Some of the bias displayed by these agencies is so blatant that these news agencies seem to be more of a propaganda ministry for the Liberal Left. One of the funnier, and in reality sadder, examples in her book deals with verbal gaffs by political figures. There are many examples of the media passing off liberal politicians gaffs as humorous, while then indicating the gaffs made by conservative politicians are themselves examples of that persons over all stupidity. The examples provided by Coulter are all recent and most readers will be able to recall the incidents as well as recognize how they blindly accepted the media analysis of the gaffs. Coulter does provide references and statistics for some of her examples. SLANDER, to it's discredit, is as guilty of stereotyping and insulting Liberals as she indicates they do the Conservatives. Coulter complains that all liberals are guilty of this and guilty of that. Never does she mention a liberal issue or politician that has actually benefitted the U.S. or provided it a service. She complains about the stereotyping of the rich class in the U.S. but never acknowledges that behind the stereotype there are legitimate examples of abuse and corruption. She complains about the the race baiting that Liberals, in my opinion and hers, are guilty of. However, she fails to even acknowledge the reason, again in my opinion, that baiting has worked is because for the last 30 years minority concerns have not been at the top of the Conservative agenda. It is this kind of bashing and bias that Coulter has peppered throughout the entire book. Lastly, there are of course two sides to every story. Coulter clearly comes down on one side while refusing to acknowledge the other side has any merits whatsoever. So while I agree with most of what she has to say I was hoping for a little less of her eloquent bashing and a little more of a well rounded approach to some of her arguments. This book will obviously appeal more to those who share Coulter's political views and will no doubt enrage those who don't. I'm positive this was Coulter's goal.
Rating: Summary: Read "Bias" instead Review: I'll get to the point: "Bias: A CBS Insider Exposes How the Media Distort the News" is a much better book. "Slander" lacks structure and has been vetted by the conservitive press for making too many factual mistakes. Coulter (or whatever ghost writer wrote the book) just didn't do her research. "Bias" on the other hand has withstood the test of time and defty exposes the real (rather than imagined) way that liberal bias gets into the news. If we want to win our battle with the liberal elements in the media we must be armed with the facts. Coulter has done more damage to our cause than good. It makes me wonder which side she is really on?
Rating: Summary: Wow. Review: This is amazing to me. I'm a recent college graduate, sort of leaning back and forth between the left and right, not really sure which appeals to and agrees with me more, but Ann Coulter's book strikes a huge blow to me, knocking me viciously to the left. She claims vehemently in the first chapter that liberals are simply mean people who rely endlessly on name-calling, and then Ms. Coulter goes on to call liberals names for 200 pages. Is this a joke? ATTENTION ANN COULTER - If you are trying to reach the level of astronomical hypocrisy recently achieved by Rush Limbaugh, I would give up, that was such a gigantic accomplishment that it's virtually unattainable for anyone else. But hey, this book is an honest effort. In this ludicrous book's defense, however, it must be noted that it is meticulously researched, which I am sad to say I've found to be pretty rare among conservative books. Even Michael Moore, sort of a left wing extremist, cites pages and pages of sources at the end of his books. Rush Limbaugh, however, made not a single reference in either of his two highly self-congratulated books, The Way Things Ought To Be and See, I Told You So, and Michael Savage notes not a single source for even one of the hundreds of outlandish claims that he makes in his two latest books, The Savage Nation and The Enemy Within, excepting the very occasional internal reference. I praise Ann Coulter for not continuing this weak trend.
Rating: Summary: Ann is U-G-L-Y Review: Attractive blonde? are you kidding me? shes one of the nastiest looking woman in the mainstream media. I think she used to be a guy, look at her adams apple. Not that there's anything wrong with that. =)
Rating: Summary: Ann Coulter never in doubt? Are you sure???? Review: To be honest...I am going to keep my comments short...I wouldn't want to get into a political "debate" over someone who should not be worthy of my time. All I can say is that one must read Al Franken's book...like him or not...to be able to best judge the "facts" claimed in Coulter's book. If you are after the truth, you cannot hold a bias...The world "liberal" is associated with "freedom." Yet many conservatives, we all know who they are, have come to identify this land of opportunity and freedom with a conservative religious state...I am sorry to burst your bubbles...Please do yourselves a favor, if you want to read something you do not have to question, and can comfortably agree with, please buy this book...if you want the truth...borrow this book and buy Al Franken's and judge for yourself...if you still think she is an honest judge of the facts...buy her book...
Rating: Summary: You go sister ! Review: Listen, the Liberal, socialistic LEFT has been unAmerican all of my lifetime and it is about time someone has the courage to shove all their circular arguments back in their faces. Suprisingly, it is an attractive blonde who all happens to be one of the brightest, shapest minds of our day! Ann is not afraid to tell it like it is and she pulls no punches! I've seen her in public and she politely waved wildly, making me feel even more a connection with her. Her web site is great and this book is FABULOUS. A MUST READ FOR EVERYONE FROM HIGH SCHOOL TO MIDDLE AGE!
Rating: Summary: Coulter Knows Slander Review: As she recently demonstrated with her lies about war hero Max Cleland. Coulter and her fellow Chicken Hawks have demonstrated again and again that they have no shame or decency and that a big lie trumps a white lie every time. Wise up, America. You are being lied to and laughed out for your gullibility.
