Rating: Summary: People blasting this book simply despise other opinions Review: BR>Ann Coulter is passionately conservative, and those of you are are as well will enjoy her book. This book will help galvanize some of your opinions on media bias and political dirty tricks, as Ms Coulter is an intelligent writer who obiviously did a lot of reserach for this book. Many liberals will be turned off by this book, as Coulter is more combative and prone to attack liberals than someone like Sean Hannity, for instance. However, the viciousness of her criticism is overshadowed by the cruelty of those she's criticizing. At least read the first chapter, "Liberals Unhinged", and decide FOR YOURSELF if Ms Coulter gives these people fair treatment.
Rating: Summary: Not true, not witty Review: I am ashamed to have given money to this author. Besides not being particularly funny (she just spouts out rediculous one liners on how liberals hate America) I learned from Al Franken's book just how unfactual she is. If you have access to Lexus Nexus, just go ahead and check some of her footnotes. It's amazing how much she misquotes or just plain makes up.
Rating: Summary: Get the Cliff Notes Review: That way, it'll expedite your realization that more than half of this book is left-wing nonsense that no educated person would believe. Ann Coulter gets all this attention because she's a (somewhat) attractive blonde, and not because she's saying anything that makes sense or rings with the smallest semblance of truth or reality. Ann Coulter lives in an alternate America, where different cultures don't mingle and the closest a person gets to learning science is what's allowed in the Bible. Don't trust her.
Rating: Summary: All the facts you never see in the media!!! Review: Coulter provides a telling indictment of the media's use of whatever means are necessary to cover up and gloss over any liberal misstatements, errors, and lies while distorting any statement, issue, or actions by any conservative. Although much of this is common knowledge among conservatives, Coulter documents her quotes and statements by detailed references and not just posturing or arm-waving. Her use of satire and humor help make this serious subject an interesting read, not just a recitation of complaints. Conservatives will be enlightened and discouraged; liberals will be able to gloat over their domination of the mainline press and networks.
Rating: Summary: Liberal Hatred of Liberals Review: This is a quote from page 5 beginning at the bottom of the page. "Liberals hate America, they hate "flag-wavers," they hate abortion opponents, they hate all religions except Islam (post 9/11). Even Islamic terrorists don't hate America like liberals do...." Does anyone get the feeling that Ann Coulter hates liberals? After reading that, I could barely go on, but I always give an author about 100 pages of my time. I made it to page seventy of Ann's book, then I started to get a bad headache (I really did, and it lasted two days). When the headache became a vague memory, I paged through to parts of the rest of the book that I thought I should read, such as her oppinion of the media. The hatred goes on. Here's a quote from page 70, paragragh 3: "yes, Walter Cronkite was a pious left-wing blowhard. Molinari may have been a pro-choice "moderate Republican," but at least she was not Walter Cronkite. Walter Cronkite, the man who helped bring the horror of the Vietnam war to us via television. Ann makes a huge case against the media for being left-wing biased. I surmise the media is neither left or right; they're afraid because their jobs are on the line. Why am I so sure of this? Nobody is reporting and investigating The Bush administration's financial and friendly ties to Saudie Arabia and more specifically their ties to Osama Bin Laden (See the October, 2003 issue of Rolling Stone Magazine, Pg. 39, "George of Arabia"). Rather than spending our time reading books that espouse hatred, we could spend that time and energy writing to the media and asking questions about the true motives of the current administrations policies.
Rating: Summary: Loved it. Review: I absolutely loved this book. Not only does the name Ann Coulter cause liberals to froth at the mouth and start spouting nonsense (as opposed to what they normally spout) but the book itself is very insightful. I love how she points out the many double standards of Democrats and liberals, and how they claim the high road, when in reality they are either cowards, traitors, mislead, greedy, lying, pampered, HYPOCRITS! Please get this book and then buy Treason. Out of the entire book of quotes, facts, etc. she has documented how she got everything and only made one mistake (the Earnhart death not being on the front page) and she corrected that immediatley after the book was released and I find it so funny that the people who say te book is a lie throw this tidbit out there. Out of everything she said about Cheating Clinton and Cowardly Carter and other quality liberals, thye throw that example out there and say with a straight face since she made that mistake the rest of the book is a lie as well. Stop listening to the idiots who buy Micheal Moore and get this book.
Rating: Summary: Just Call Her Ann Slanders Review: This tome is a hoot. Let me tell you that if you want to burn some calories, which will happen by the intense laughing this treatise will impart on your funny bone, then this cornucopia of copius conspiricies is sure to please. I just don't understand though why Ann is so angry? I mean she's got it made in the shade. Oh well, her new pen name should be Ann Slanders. Tubby.
Rating: Summary: More of the same. Review: Or, more accurately, the later "Treason" is more of the same material that you'll find in this book. Isn't this book supposed to be about how Coulter's sworn enemies always resort to name-calling? Isn't it about how instead of arguing, they call the other side "stupid" and "crazy?" Doesn't Ann Coulter claim that her opponent's favored debate tactic is "the ad hominem attack?" Well...ad hominem attacks permeate this book. Coulter not only attacks her opponents' intelligence (p. 25, 43, 177) and their mental health (p. 24, 33, 254)...she even goes after their *looks* (p. 21; set, ironically enough, in the middle of a screed about how *they* go after people's looks). And of course, there are the constant attacks on the opposition's integrity: Coulter doesn't seem to go one page without calling *someone* a liar, even as she herself dispenses dubious information and makes blanket generalizations. Ann...do us a favor and go take a debate class. Then, we might be able to to get past your *spite* and find an actual *argument.* (Note: Pages referenced apply to the paperback edition.)
Rating: Summary: I wasn't amused Review: Aren't books likes suppose to be entertaining? This book was just one long indignant rant. If there no entertainment then there is no redeeming value. I feel like someone that slow down to gawk at a accident.
Rating: Summary: A conservative who doesn't like the book Review: For those who say this book should be "banned" it shows why the book should be published. It should be allowed to stand on it's own merit. To disagree with it is fine, remember part of Ann's job here was to sell books. As a conservative, you'd think I'd jump all over this book. My problem is the presentation style. Coulter jumps all over the place quickly moving from point to point. Reading the book, I felt like I was listening to a ticked off writer who needed somewhere to vent. Passion is one thing, obsession is another. Coulter could have done a much better job of discussing her points. Instead, she stoops to the same old name calling that seems to be so popular in politics now. It sure sells books, but doesn't win points from me. (And yes, the same goes for Franken).
