Summary: Excellent!
Review: I ordered this book for my nine year old daughter. I read it through when I received it and can't wait to give it to her and start some "discussions". It is definitely geared towards younger girls (8-10) and those that haven't quite started "maturing" yet. Cute illustrations and friendly text. Several of my friends have also purchased it for their pre-pre-teen daughters.

Summary: Excellent Beginer Guide for 8year old Girls
Review: I purchased this book for an 8 year old girl that I am the female role model for.(she is raised by a single father) She loved it! When my own daughter turned 8 I purchased it for her.
It is good for girls just starting to take care of themselves. Grooming skills, friendships, and taking care and learning about their bodies. I would recommend this for 8 to 9 year olds. Any one older I would recommend finding a book more specifically geared to physical changes and sexuality.

Summary: Not the Greatest
Review: This book is ok. It only touches briefly over some subjects, but goes into too much detail in other areas of the book. There are better books on this subject, such as "It's A Girl Thing". I don't know the author's name of that book. The Care & Keeping of You is better for 9-10 year olds, older readers will not get much out of it.

Summary: Nice book for pre-teens
Review: I just received this book and carefully scanned it before giving it to my 9 yr. old daughter. She was so excited to get this book because, unknown to me, she had seen it in her American Girl catalog and knew all about it! I bought this book based on reviews from this site. They were right on! I feel the only negatives are the four illustrations of how to use a tampon. If I am correct, detailed instructions for tampon use are included in every box. I would prefer to keep those details private until they are actually needed. Overall, I think this book is just right for a pre-teen girl. There is a lot of information such as hygiene, nutrition, body changes, fitness, etc. This book delivers facts that may seem intimidating, in a fun and exciting way. Girls may actually look forward to growing up!

Summary: I would have loved to have had this book when I was young...
Review: It's extremely matter-of-fact, great illustrations, easy to understand, and most of all, points out that we all go through this difficult time but each of us is unique in our experience. It would have saved me a lot of embarrassment as a pre-teen, and maybe soothed some of that angst. It's definitely great for any young lady in your life, or as a means of getting "the talk" rolling. A far cry from the nurses' books I learned from!!!!

Summary: The care and keeping of you
Review: I am reading this book with my seven year old. She loves it. We might skip a couple section until she is around nine. I think this book is perfect for ages 9+.

Summary: Thank God for this Book!
Review: This is a fantastic book that has helped my daughter understand the changes going on in her 9 year old body. As a father I would have a difficult time explaining things to her, but this book explains everything in an understandable, informative, and tasteful way. It places a stong emphasis on positive body image and accepting yourself and others as you/they are. This is such an important message for young girls today.

I've never reviewed a book before, but I felt strongly compelled to share my positive experience with everyone.

I only wish this book were published 30 years ago. The world would be a better place if it were.
