Summary: People can change and mature - this is proof
Review: ...I bought it the first day it was released and read without prejudice as to who the author was, eventhough I'm a big Madonna fan. It's a children's book. I think this book was very well done, not to mention this was her first publication of this type. The values and lessons are simple to understand and that's what makes it great for children...they can relate to the situations posed and learn. You can understand how Madonna's priorities have changed with her maturity, and that's refreshing.

I hope that Madonna will never lose sight on her past, because that made her and shaped her into what she is today. We should all remember our pasts and use them to better ourselves.

Nice job Maddy, I can't wait for book two!!

Summary: Lovely book
Review: The first time I heard about this new Madonna project I thought "that's gonna be her suicide". I wasn't interested until the promotion began. I bought it to my niece as a birthday present.
It's a lovely story about the envy and jelousy towards other people wich is one of the first negative feelings all childrens have during their development into an adult.
My niece felt related to the 4 girls because she sometimes behaves the same way with other girls in the school. After the first reading wanted to read it again ,and again, and again. And loves to see the beautiful and delicate illustrations.
Adding that the money goe to Charity foundations ,this time Madonna has passed the test. Congratulations.

Summary: Finally A Children's "Story" Book That Reveals Truth
Review: Finally we have a children's story book that reveals some truth. All the stories read to little girls and boys while I was growing up had the "princess" automatically beautiful, automatically lucky, automatically finding the prince, and automatically the prince loves her and marries her and they live automatically happily ever after. This story sheds some light for the youngsters. Many can relate to little Binah. It was hard for me growing up. My friend and I were always picked on by the "perfect rich girls". With this book, children and maybe even their parents will learn to treat others with respect and show compassion for a fellow human being.

Summary: Wonderful message of compassion
Review: Regardless of who the author of this book is, the story that's been penned is an insightful and entertaining one.

Nicole, Amy, Charlotte and Grace are The English Roses...four pre-pubescent best friends who, like most girls their age, are envious of those who have something they don't. In this case, Binah has a beauty that draws the attention they crave. The English Roses condemn Binah for her blessings and treat her with obvious disdain.

One evening, the girls share a dream in which a fairy offers to let them switch places with Binah. Why wouldn't they want to? She's got everything The English Roses want. Or does she? The fairy allows The English Roses to take a closer look at Binah and her life before they agree to switch places with her. What they find is that Binah's life isn't as beautiful as they'd anticipated and she has her own challenges. Suddenly, they are grateful for the blessings they do have and knowing that Binah's life isn't as perfect as they'd expected it to be they are compelled to treat her with more kindness and humility. Compassion for each other's trials and embracing each other's blessings as well as your own seems to be the moral of this story.

This book is told in such a way that the lessons portrayed don't come off as intellectual wisdom, but wisdom from experience instead. The voice of Madonna's own experience as a motherless child and now mother of two? Who knows? But I do think it's a voice the age group it's geared toward will listen to and a lesson they all need to learn. A lesson even we adults need to learn.

Summary: A solid story with a good lesson
Review: It's easy to judge this book because it was written by Madonna. But before you do, I hope you'll open it and read it. If you do, you'll find that The English Roses is a solid story with a good lesson and lovely artwork.

The English Roses is the story of 4 best friends who share everything, including their jealousy of a 5th girl. After being given a glimpse into her life, the 4 friends see that things are not always as they seem and that they have judged her unfairly. In truth, she's a lovely girl that they end up being close friends with.

Madonna has done a great job writing this book. The text is fresh, fast-paced, and just hip enough not to seem preachy or boring to today's youth. The artwork is bright and detailed, giving kids a lot to look at. Girls will recognize their behavior (both good and bad) in the four girls.

Don't confuse this picture book with those that are for the very young. This is a picture book for older children and can cross many age ranges. The lesson taught is important and universal. It will make a fantastic read aloud for classrooms, libraries, and even at home.

Truly, The English Roses is a delight. I encourage you to give it the chance it deserves and judge it for it's solid content and bright artwork, not its famous author.

Summary: Read First, Then Review. A Bit Of Advise.
Review: Although many think, just because Madonna has released a book called 'SEX', why would anyone let their children read a childrens book written by her. The answer is simple. 'SEX', was targeted at ADULT audiences, where 'The English Roses' is targeted for children. 'SEX' taught adults lessons on how to stop being so uptight over being sexual. 'The English Roses' teaches children how to not be ignorant, not be jealous, and accept people, don't judge.
I've purchased 3 copies. One for me, one for my new born neice, and one for my mom, who after many years, is finally open to Madonna, and sees her for the talent she is.
'The English Roses' is not only cute, well written, teaches a great lesson, but also is very well published. The quality of the book is fantastic, coming in a cute sleeve with the english rose girls printed all over it.
I highly recommend this book, not only because I am a true Madonna fan, but because it's about time people stop being so judgemental all the time, and we should teach this to children before it's too late, and they grow up to be like so many people are today.

Summary: Madonna shines her light with new Kid's Series!
Review: I was totally blown away with Madonna's "English Roses" book. Not only does the book have a great message to children of all ages, but the book has fantasic illustrations. I think it is really different that the illustrations are done by a fashion designer. I truly believe that this book would become an instant classic if it didn't have Madonna's name on the cover. There are so many judgemental people in this world to truly give this wonderful book a chance. I can't wait to get my hands on her second book, "Mr. Peabody's Apples". Anyone can learn from this simple but powerful tale!!

Summary: Lovely
Review: I've never been interested in celebrity books ,but with all the media and reports of this I had curiosity so I bought it thinking in my little niece. I think it's a lovely book about one of the first bad sentiments on our lifes and it deals perfectly the envy you suffer when you grow up, even in the familiar environment ,with brothers and sisters. The illustrations are beautifully made, colourful and delicate. It's a nice surprise.

Summary: Ignorant folks will never "get" Madonna
Review: I am stunned at the ignorant, negative reviews about this wonderful children's book. It's an absolutely positive, spiritual read... and a wonderful gift to share with anyone... NOT just for children!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent book, no matter what you think of Madonna
Review: Don't listen to people who are rating the book without reading it. For some reason, people love to slam Madonna and everything she does. In fact, this book is extremely insightful, well-written, and delightfully illustrated. Take away the famous author's name and you are still left with a book that's well worth every penny that is going to charity. Young readers will be enthralled with the sweet story and older readers will appreciate the lessons Madonna is teaching through her book. Enjoy!
