Summary: Most comprehensive and complete descriptions
Review: I have read many books on servlets and JSP, but this is the one I will be sure to keep. I used it to learn when I first started, and I continue to use it as a reference as a Java programmer now. Thanks Marty!

Summary: Terrific Book For Beginning JSP and Servlet Users
Review: This is my second book on JSP and Servlets and this book is the best. I have learned what servlets are, how to use them, when to use JSP. Coming from many years of Perl/CGI development, this book (and of course knowing the Java language), has helped me begin developing Servlets and useful JSP's. A must have for people interested in developing servlets and jsps.

Summary: Coreservlets review
Review: I'm from Nigeria ,Africa and i've just gotten this very informative and practical book on servlets and JSP and i think this book is one of the best i've seen in terms of examples and practical implementations of servlets and would recommend this book to anybody that is interested in dumping CGI and moving on to the latest technology in town. Summary: The Best I've Seen
Review: I have read several books on servlets and JSP coding, but had to weed through tons of phyilisophical differences and internal codings in order for the author to prove they knew something. This book gives the information you need and gets you up and running quicker than even the "something" for dummies books. (Not that I'm knocking those). I appreciate authors like this who treat you as a participant in development. I highly recommend this book to any one wanting to either know a little about servlets and JSP or wanting to dive deep into coding. It is a 10 star book, but 5 is all I get to choose. Thanks Marty Hall.

Summary: Excellent and helpfull
Review: This book is excellent. If you are studying servlets and JSP it provides many details and samples that will save you a lot of time, besides when you download the code and use it with the book you get helpful sources explained in detail for various of the most popular servers.

Summary: An Excellent Book
Review: This book is great. It includes a lot of working examples which helps me to remember the concept I learned from each chapter. This book tells you all you want to know about servlets and JSP. The beauty of the book is that the author shows the difference among several popular servers from setup to configuration, and I don't have to worry about what kind of server I need to install. It is an excellent book if you want to implement what you learned from Java2 into Java servlets and JSP.

Summary: A Superb Book Covering BOTH Servlets and JSP!
Review: There are several excellent servlet and JSP books available, however what Marty Hall has done so well is combine both topics into one comprehensive title. I wanted to learn servlets to develop a web-based project. However, after awhile I discovered that I would need to incorporate JSP as well. A hallmark of of this text is that it covers both topics and integrates them nicely. The text covers much of what a Java web-developer requires and I found the coverage of beans to be particularly helpful.

It is also well-written and the material is organized logically. I suggest this title as your first choice for servlet or JSP programming.

Summary: A great text and reference book to learn sevlets and JSP
Review: I found the text easy to read and follow. It helps you a lot to get started both with servlets and JSP and, what is very important where to get the software, how to install, configure and use. It is well structured and easy to find an answer. The sample code is self descriptive and can be used for real life solutions.

Summary: A good introduction book for Java programmer
Review: This book is nicely organized, very easy to read. It covers the basic concepts of Servlet/JSP and related topics such as HTML Forms, JDBC. It even teaches you how to setup and config Servlet/JSP capable Web servers such as Apache/Tomcat, JWS.

It is a good book to get you started and it is worth every cent of the price. However, if you want a complete reference for Servlet/JSP this book is not what you are looking for. And the author assumes you have reasonable knowledge of Java language, it is not suitable for content developers who want to learn JSP.

Summary: great coverage
Review: I've been poring over the book 'Core Servlets and JavaServer Pages' and I must say it's a most remarkable composition; a classic collection of almost all one would need to know to develop state-of-the-art web applications. The idea of covering the supporting technologies like HTTP, HTML, JDBC, etc. to the necessary levels of detail, so that developers can find out all the information they need from a single source is a master-stroke. I've read scores of technological books all these years, and haven't come across one that can hold a candle to CSAJSP, especially in terms of the explicit, lucid and complete manner in which the content has been presented.
