Summary: I read it and i pass
Review: It was all i need to pass my network+ exam, very complete, well explain.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent!
Review: This was the only studying material I used. I finished the book in two weeks and did all the practice tests in the CD. I passed with a 85%. Great!

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Not very good.
Review: This book was my only preperation for the exam along with very little hands on experience. I managed to pass the exam, but this book did not help that much. The only good part of the book is the chapter on TCP/IP utilities. The rest of the book is nothing more than a breif overview of the exam objectives. There has to be a better book out there that goes into more detail of network topologies especially token ring. The book never touched on ISDN but my exam had a lot of ISDN questions. I do not recommend this book as your ptimary source of information. It is fine for little details and overviews.

Summary: Lacking Real Word Info
Review: This is a good book if you are only looking to take an exam. Like many other books that promote paper certs, this book provides just enough detail. God forbid, it goes a step further and provides real world information and detail. If your looking for the paper read this book. If you are looking for something with some real world information and correct spelling, look for something else. Lots of typos and mistakes in this book.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Lacking detail
Review: I found this book to valuable in the sense of providing detail to pass the exam, but yet missing the points on some very fundamental, real world issues. Use this book if you want to pass the exam for the paper value. Use other books if you really want to learn about networking.

Summary: A REALLY CLASS PRODUCT
Review: I bought this book in preparation for my Network+ exam. I am A+ certified and used a computer based training program that cost me $500 (I was less than impressed!). I decided to try books for my network+ exam, I am not a big reader so I needed a book that was interesting and clear in it's explanations because networking can be a daunting subject. What I'm trying to say is that this book was EXCELLENT. I got 91% on my Network+ Exam today. It is excellent for beginners as well as those who have some idea about networking. The practice questions in the book as well as those on the CD are very good for exam preparation. Ensure that you get at least 98% on those practice exams before you attempt the actual exam. THIS IS THE ONLY BOOK THAT YOU NEED TO PREPARE FOR THE N+ Exam.

Summary: This is all you need...
Review: Last week I passed the Network+ with a score of 873 out of 900 (646 required for passing); and this book was my only study guide. Aside from the Apple OS X ACTC exams that I passed several weeks earlier, I'm new to the certification tracks. I wasn't sure what exactly to expect; but I found that this book had prepared me perfectly for the exam. In fact, I'm now taking aim at the A+ exam; and I've bought the A+ Complete Study Guide from the same publisher.

As some people have said before, the practice exams on the CD are harder than the actual exam. Also, those practice exams don't always grade your answers properly--which can be a little frustrating. Otherwise, the flashcards on the CD were a wonderful bonus. I enjoyed testing my knowledge with those the day before the exam.

Summary: Passed with 780
Review: This book was instrumental in assisting me to gain my Network+ certification. The CD-ROM, included with the text book, has tests based on the exam itself, but harder than the exam. If you do well on the sample tests, you'll do better on the actual test itself.
The book missed a few items that were on the actual test (a specific well known port was asked on the test and I did not find it anywhere in the book), so it shouldn't be your ONLY resource, but it did a great job in getting me most of the way there.

Summary: many questions on my exam not covered by this book !!!
Review: On Thursday June 6, 2002, I passed the network+ with a score 793 out of a possible 900. The passing score is 646.

Even though I used this book to study for the test (and I passed), I strongly recommend AGAINST this book. It does not cover many topic on my exam

1. It says amost nothing about security protocol (L2TP, IPsec,
SSL, Kerberos). I had to face 8 questions about these
security protocols on the exam.

2. It doesn't mention the port of HTTPS, which I was asked on
the exams

3. It says next to nothing about MAC OS & AppleTalk, which my
exam covered 4 questions about it.

4. Not enough about Unix. 2 questions about Unix.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great Book!
Review: I just passed the Network+ (N10-002) exam with a 780/900 and I only used this book. It is easy to read and great at explaining the concepts. I would highly recommend this book to anyone planning on taking the revised Network+ test over the 2002 objectives.
