Rating: Summary: The Material is here, but know the chapter review questions Review: the is so much material in this book it can be a bit overwhelming for someone not working in the industry, and just getting started. I found the Questions on the practice test on the CD and after each chapter in the book extremely valuable. I recommend using this book, thoroughly reading the chapters and constantly going over the practice questions before writing the exam. this method should allow you to pass the first time. I passed with 91% on my first try, I did use the exam notes by the same author, and the exam prep by exam cram. In hindsight, I really think this is the only book you need.
Rating: Summary: Hmmm.. where do i find a better book? Review: I wasn't very happy with this book.. I haven't taken the Network+ exam yet because i'm scared to take it with only the knowledge of this book. There were a few errors in it and at the end of each section it gives your some odd review questions that you can't find ANYWHERE in the book! How am i supposed to answer a question I don't know? I am out to find another Network+ book that is in more detail. I don't even know how to setup a true client/server network! I just know what a server does! That is horrible being that i know a few people that have taken the network+ exam and know these things! Find something better!
Rating: Summary: Excellent Study Guide Review: I passed the Network+ Exam with a 97 after one month of studying with this book. if you want to get certified, this is the book to use.
Rating: Summary: Study this book and you will make an A Review: Studied this book, and this book only. Found it to be somewhat easy to read, and exceptionally informative in relation to the test content. Even the study questions were so well written that they were either WORD FOR WORD on the test, or somewhat near it. Made a high A, THANKS DAVID!
Rating: Summary: Too wordy and not enough time on test subjects. Review: I've read through this book 3 times and it was hard to get through each time. The book is an overall good general study book; but, I believe the author spent too much time going over nonimportant subjects. The author could have spent more time on Unix. The test that I took asked a lot of questions about Unix. I did pass the test but I was completely surprised and caught unprepared. I did pass the test but not with a good score. If you do get this book, I would suggest buying another study guide as well just to be able to compare notes and see things from a different angle.
Rating: Summary: Outstanding Explanation of basic terms in networking ! Review: Easy to follow, great examples, and all in plain english. A must book for your review and certification. I use it to teach others.
Rating: Summary: The only book you'll need! Review: This book is all you will need for the N+ test. I had no knowledge of networking when I read this book. I read the book from cover to cover 3 times within a 2 month time period and scored a 94% on the test. The author ( David Groth ) knows what he is talking about!
Rating: Summary: good, but i wish it had been better Review: This book was good, but unless you are really really advanced you need to get another book to supplement what this one misses in order to be fully prepared. I prefer, with exams like this, to buy one book and just have to learn that. I was disappointed to have to buy another because of topics which I thought this book did not cover well.
Rating: Summary: Get certified! Review: Network+ by David Groth will prepare you to pass the exam! This book covers exam objectives very well and Groth writing style is easy to follow. It certainly deserves five stars for that alone and if you fail the exam then it's not because of the book but rather the lack of experience. What I don't like in this book is too much detail on some topics (twenty pages to show abend.log is waste of paper) or almost no information at all on another (where is description on LMHOSTS files?). I don't agree with official amazon.com review that this book can also prepare you to pass Networking Essentials - get another book!Nevertheless I would recommend this book to anyone preparing to take Network+. Good luck! Ales Kavsek
Rating: Summary: Good enough to pass the Network+ exam !! Review: This book is cover all materials you need to know. There are some misktake and error, but very good explaination. If you want to know more detail about the networking stuffs, you got to buy more books to master them. However, This book is enough for the Network+ certification. Good Luck !!
