Rating: Summary: Good exam prep, but use other sources as well. Review: I just passed the Network+ exam with a 94%, using this book, the Coriolis Network+ Practice Tests book, and the NetG Networking Essentials course (I did pass the Networking Essentials test a year ago, and that provided a good foundation for this exam). I also work in the IT field as well. The Network+ test is pretty straightforward, and Groth's book has most (if not all) of the info needed to do well on the test. He presents the information in a nice format that isn't dense or convoluted. Experience helps though, especially in the troubleshooting and TCP/IP sections of the exam. However, I still recommend that you use other study sources in addition to this book - or any single book, for that matter. In my experience, seeing the same information presented in a different format can help the info "click." Anyway, this is a good book, and will be a decent networking reference beyond the test. Good luck! Erik
Rating: Summary: Typos and not enough meat Review: I really think this book needs some help. IF you already know the material then it is better, but for a newbie the typos and stuff are really annoying. I had to supplement the material to feel confident about the exam. Not one of the better Sybex efforts I have on my shelf.

Rating: Summary: Skimpy on details Review: This book will help someone who meets the recommended requirements for Network+ (1.5 years experience) pass, but isn't so good for someone starting out. I used this book in conjunction with the Network+ Exam Prep, which is much better suited towards a newbie like myself.

Rating: Summary: 5 Stars because I used it to pass the test. Review: This is the book you need. If you are A+ certified already and working on a workstation in a network environment for some time, you will not have a tough time passing the Network + exam after reading this book thoroughly. Answer all the multiple choice questions and learn why the answer is the answer and others aren't. Go through it until you score 100% every time on the chapter test and you'll pass with flying colors. The more you study and understand the better you'll do.

Rating: Summary: a great self-study tool for the exam Review: This book was my one and only resource for the exam and it was pretty thorough and easily digested. It was well worth the money.
Rating: Summary: Right on target Review: I just passed Network+ with a 94 after studying this book. I found quite a few questions on the exam that were very close to the actual exam. I also skimmed over the Exam Cram book, but found this book to be way better for passing the exam. You'll learn alot about networking, too.
Rating: Summary: Not bad, could be improved Review: Overall, this is a good book. I like the way its layed out, and the information, while a little more in depth than I needed to know for the test, was very good at helping me understand the concepts behind them. This reason I give this book 3 stars is because there were numerous typos and some incorrect information, and with a certification guide, I expect the information presented to be well researched from the source, not from other study guides, and absolutely correct, with no typos. Maybe the second edition will improve on this some. BTW- with this book and Exam Cram, I passed the test with a 95%, only 68% was required to pass. I missed 3 questions out of 65.
