Rating: Summary: If there could be only one DW3 how-to book, this would be it Review: After puttering around with the less than helpful manual, I picked up this amazing tome of Dreamweaver knowledge. For the novice to intermediate, this is a great manual. It reads well, flows beautifully, and is loaded with tips and tricks.I would recommend this book to anyone serious about using Dreamweaver for their web site. The included cd has all the lessons on it, and the lessons themselves make simple to advanced web design a snap. Great job, hopefully they will come out with a Dreamweaver 4 and Fireworks 4 manual.

Rating: Summary: Buy this book or get the new one DW4 H.O.T. but buy one!!!!! Review: All I can say is get this book if you ant to learn Dreamweaver 3. The ONLY reason not to buy this book is to wait a bit longer for Dreamweaver 4 H.O.T. by the same authors!!! I have upgraded and can tell you that Macromedia takes the perfection they had in DW3 and takes it another notch higher with DW4 !!! Now, DW3 HOT will teach you basics and intermediate level training. The rest is up to you. The format, layout, organization, lesson plan and examples are brilliant ! Weinman and Green know their stuff! Lynda teaches Macromedia products at her own facility, you can tell she does when you get 20 pages into this book. When I had to learn DW3, I chose this book on high word of mouth recommendation. THANK HEAVENS I DID! This book was pure pleasure from front to back to learn from. I started out alert and awake at 8am. By 11pm I was still at it on page 300 and cruising! It swept me in! I did the whole book, played around a few days then re-did the whole book for fun and reinforcement of the lessons. The book starts light and easy, preps you with a short foundation, then dives right in to using the product. This book will not teach you every web design under the trick, and you should not expect that. It focuses strictly on DW3 skills and proper design principles along the way!!! YES......finally someone did a book the right way from cover to cover!!!
Rating: Summary: Best Book For Beginners to Learn Dreamweaver!!! Really! Review: Don't matter if you like to read or not. This book will clearly cover everything a beginner should learn. The book will make your learning process a lot easier. The only problem is that sometimes Lynda (the author) forgot to explain the difference between MACs and PCs.
Rating: Summary: Best Introduction Macromedia Dreamweaver 3 Review: Dreamweaver 3 is the industrial strength tool to easily build web sites - period. Lynda Weinman and Garo Green have developed a wonderfully crafted tool that will teach beginners how to build and manage websites using Dreamweaver 3. Dreamweaver 3 H.O.T. is straightforward, packed with knowledge and learn-by-example exercises in a well thought out design. The supplemental materials on the CD-ROM include demos of Macromedia Dreamweaver 3, Fireworks 3, and, more importantly, QuickTime movie clips of Garo demonstrating Dreamweaver concepts. The book addresses the key methods of learning: auditory, visual and learn-by-example. This is definitely one of the best "self-training" books I have ever purchased and I highly recommend it for the beginner who wants to learn how to build web sites with Dreamweaver 3. It is important to note that the fundamentals of web site design, graphics design, web application development and web animation are not addressed in this book. To get these - study books on web design (Lynda Weinman as a highly rated book available on Amazon for web design) and books on Fireworks, Flash, XML, ASP, JAVA, and SQL databases.
Rating: Summary: Gets you up and running quickly Review: Her book was the only book I got for creating a Website with Dreamweaver and Fireworks. Following her tutorials I built a fabulous Website with cascading style sheets, rollovers, the works. I was never bored or confused, and I understood the "why" and well as the "how." I've just downloaded a trial version of Dreamweaver MX and came here specifically to get HER book on Dreamweaver MX. Sadly, she doesn't seem to have published one.
Rating: Summary: Dreamweaver 3 Hands-on-Training Review: I bought this book because I was making the switch from Adobe GoLive to Dreamweaver. As an intermedediate level web developer I found this book to be just about perfect. I took it home and skimmed the material; then I did excercises only in the areas that I didn't understand--fast and efficient. For someone with less experience than me, following the exercises in the order they are presented would give them a good grasp of both Dreamweaver and the principles of setting up a web page. While I love the teaching technique that Lynda Weinman uses for technical matters, I am not crazy about her design examples from an artistic or communications point of view. There must be a good book out there on design; but I haven't found it.
Rating: Summary: BUY THIS BOOK!!!! Review: I bought this book having little to no experience with Dreamweaver. In a matter of a couple of days, I was up and running the program. Tutorials are easy to follow and very informative. I just cannot say enough about how good this book is. The "basics" and more are covered in detail.... Im buying more of Lynda and Garo's books!!!
Rating: Summary: For Hands on Learning, Comprehension and Ease, the best Review: I couldn't tell you how much time, money and energy I spent trying to learn Dreamweave. This book was a gift. So easy, only a few things were a little confusing. Knew quite alot already, but very glad to have found it! Thanks Lynda
Rating: Summary: Great first web book Review: I enjoyed the exercises and layout of the book. For someone who never did any web development this book is great.
