Rating: Summary: Excellent step by step instruction Review: I was able to learn Dreamweaver by working through the easy to read sequence of instructions. I also appreciated the technical tips on publishing. The reason I did not give it a five-star rating was because I thought the layout/graphics were a bit dull.
Rating: Summary: The Book is Great, The CD has minor problems -1 star Review: I was looking for a tutorial on Dreamweaver 3.0 when I came across Ms. Lynda Weinman and Mr. Garo Green's book "Dreamweaver 3 H.O.T. Hands on Training". I sat down ready to devel into the knowledge contained in this tome with CD in drive. I started to copy the files to the hard drive in Windows NT 4.0 only to have it abort an number of times with an invalid path for a file entitled "ourrooms_p.gif". Being of a curious nature I openned the up the cd files on my desktop and found the file resident in the exercise files for Chapters 3,5,13, and 14. I searched for the file and found it in all the chapters mentioned. I openned up Adobe Photoshop and pathed my way to the file and tried to open it, Adobe gave me an unreconized file format error. I attempted to open it again, this time it aborted Adobe with an memory error. I tried with PhotoImpact, it couldn't reconize the file format. I emailed Lynda.com/books about the problem asking them to send me the file via email, a new CD, or tell me where I could download it from the net, and went through a tedious procedure to copy the files to the hard drive to proceed with the training. I found the book excellent, wonderful, insightful and discovered I didn't need the "ourrooms_p.gif" file at all, there was just a nasty hole in the lessions where the file should be. The lessions were well planned and layed out. I went from page 1 to page 221 before I before I put the book aside. This morning while going through my email I received a note from Lynda.com/books about my problem with file "ourrooms_p.gif" explaining that lynda.com/books was a small company and did not offer tech support for my problem, and that I should bring the problem up in a discussion group on their web site, and the writer hoped that this reply helped,(someone there is one fry short of a happy meal) to which I replied, "huh, what's there to discuss? The file is bad on the cd, short sweet and to the point, replace the file. In their movies on the CD Lynda and Garo talk about another CD they produced for DreamWeaver 3.0, hummm? do I order it, or not?

Rating: Summary: The absolute best! Review: I wish all books for web developers were this good! Personally, I learn by DOING things... and this book does that! You dive right into actually doing projects - and learn along the way, and actually remember it, because you used the program while learning the concept! This book is highly reccommended!
Rating: Summary: Look no further for your first Dreamweaver 3 book! Review: I'm new to web design. Used to be, the mere thought of HTML and FLash and everything else that goes with Web Design intimidated me to no end. But I recently purchased Dreamweaver 3 and knew that I would need a book that would basically spell things out for me in a language and format that I could understand. .. This book had nothing but stellar reviews, so Ibit. Lynda's D3 book treats you like the newbie that you reallyare. There are no assumptions that you have any prior knowledge to webdesign (and that doesn't mean that she treats you like an idioteither). The tutorials are so well thought out that you will be congratulating yourself in no time. This isn't a book for the techies out there who can open D3 for the first time and be on their way. This book is for the ordinary folk who want to build websites for the first time. And let me tell you, when you finish this book you may very well utter to yourself the words that I uttered, "Is that all there is to building a website?". The longstanding engima of website building will be gone. To get started and become functional in Dreamweaver 3, you need no other book. Guaranteed!
Rating: Summary: The best DW training book I've found to date Review: If you are new to Dreamweaver, or have been struggling with it, this is the best book written to date. Formatted as a learning book, rather than a bible, it takes you through enough information to get you started. There are, however, too many features of DW to print without resorting to a strait reference book so when you finish this, you'll still have plenty to learn. I actually went through this book using Dreamweaver Ultradev 4, so if you don't want to wait for their new version you should be fine. As a PC user, it was slightly annoying looking at screenshots from a macintosh all of the time, but it didn't cause a problem.
Rating: Summary: Dreamweaver 3 Hands-on-Training Review: In my 26 years in computers I have never come across a more perfect software support book. This is obviously the product of a good mix of talents, expert teaching ability and genuine intimate knowledge of the software. A rare combination of talents. Well done Lynda, Garo and all concerned.
Rating: Summary: Best Book on Dreamweaver from one of the best authors Review: Lynda puts out the best books on web graphics, hands down. I muddled through on my own learning Dreamweaver and found the manual cumbersome at best. When I got this book, I learned easily all of the features I never bothered to figure out on my own. I appreciate Dreamweaver much more now that I've read her book and done the exercises in it. The QuickTime movies in the CD are also an excellent addition. I can't wait to what she does with Flash 4.0/5.0.
Rating: Summary: Great Writer, layout and Presentation Review: Lynda Weinman knows what she is talking about. I have learned quite a bit following her lead.
Rating: Summary: Tutorial approach which excels Review: Lynda's books are well-tested, since they are based on her successful and well-attended classes. Dreamweaver 3 needed a tutorial treatment which could show its power fully. This book does so and not only does it well, but it also does it in an entertaining way.
