Rating: Summary: This book is NOT a cross-browser reference Review: This book should not claim that it covers both Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer - this is false advertising. It reads like a Netscape manual for Navigator programming with few occasional references to IE. As for contents, it is a book for beginners.
Rating: Summary: A book to beginners, NOT FOR EXPERIANCED PROGRAMMERS Review: This book is excelled for someone how doesn't know about programming. It is an overkill for an experienced programmer. I found myself just skimming over the pages and extracting useful information. There is allot of fluff. The book could be cut down into 500 pages instead of 1015 pages.
Rating: Summary: I love JavaScript now, thanks to Danny Goodman Review: I've programmed in Apple's HyperTalk for years thanks to Danny Goodman's "Complete Book of HyperCard 2.2." I took the plunge and bought the book "Javascript Bible" My co-worker's marvel at my web pages designed for work. I've made complete fuzzy logic web databases thanks to Danny Goodman's thorough examples. The other books I bought discouraged me more then anything else; Danny Goodman's thorough examples made my web brilliance a reality.
Rating: Summary: A concise and precise guide to JavaScript - Easy to follow. Review: Already owning books from the Bible series I purchased the JavaScript Bible. I was not dissappointed, this is an excellent reference book. It takes you gently from the start to the end, explaining in easy to understand plain english. A must for anyone who is interested in learning a flexible scripting/programming language. If you want a good solid building block for your JavaScript life, then look no further, you've found it!
Rating: Summary: A great reference for programmer's of all levels Review: I needed an in-depth book on javascript to help me develop my school's web page. I couldn't of bought a better book. Goodman covers javascript very well and makes it easy to understand. I would recommend this book to anyone..novice or expert. Definitely worth the money!
Rating: Summary: I am not taking away from what Mr. Goodman has done... Review: This is a great book for javascripting if you are new to either programming or web in general. There are in-depth coverages for just about all categories of problems that you may run into. However, this is not the bleeding-edge book that I had hoped to find (is there one?). I ended-up skimming through most of the pages only to find that I've already known most of it. For power users, this book will be a good reference, but it won't teach you many new things.

Rating: Summary: Very comprehensive and complete coverage of Javascript! Review: The Javascript Bible is very comprehensive and well organized. It is designed as both a learning & reference tool. I recommend that anyone new to javascript first read this book and then pick up Orielly's book on Javascript. This is an excellent first choice!
Rating: Summary: Gives you an easy start on JavaScript programming. Review: I have tried to learn JavaScript from the net, but didn't find what I was looking for. Either it was to short and simple or just complete reference manuals. With this book I got the best from both worlds, a tutorial introducing me to the specialities of JavaScript programming and a detailed reference manual that gave me the necessary details of the functions I needed. All compressed in one book and suitable for reading while sitting in my resting chair with a cup of coffe in my hand. You never get bored. I selected this book from the other reviews, and I fully agree with them. This is THE BOOK if you want to learn JavaScript fast and easy.
Rating: Summary: Best book for learning Javascript Review: I've purchased several books on Javascript. While the others explained the important concepts, none came close to the clarity of the Javascript Bible. It really cleard up all my confusion on object notation, which is the heart of making things work. It has the best explanations and clearly illustrated examples. Many large books as this one are often filled with lots of rambling on about what can be done and not very well at telling you how. This one is exactly the opposite, tons of well written information that helps you not only understand Javascript but also clearly understand the environment the scripts live in, the Browser. Excellent!
