Rating: Summary: A comprehensive, well organized, reference book Review: By far the best book on JavaScript available. A good tutorial for most beginners, and an invaluable reference guide for intermediate to advanced authors.
Rating: Summary: The Best Gate to JavaScript Review: If you need a book to "understand" Javascript and you are novice programmer: this is the Javascript book for you. The language is simple and there are many examples to view how Javascript works.
Rating: Summary: Excellent, buy this book if u want to learn JavaScript Review: I am new to JavaScript and I had a tough time deciding wheather to buy Goodman's Bible or JavaScript Definitive Guide. I read all the reviews and made my choice...I found Danny Goodman's book to be awesome. He explains the language thouroughly, yet in a manner that is understandable. If you are an intermediate or advanced programmer than I would recommend JavaScript:The Definitive Guide, published by O'Reilly books. Heck, just buy both books....because together they are awesome, and you are bound to find what you are looking for. However, if you could only buy one book then definitly get JavaScript Bible by Goodman
Rating: Summary: Good for starters as well as intermediate programmers. Review: This book does an adequate job of explaining the key concepts in JavaScript. This is probably the best work on the topic of JavaScript so far. However, in some instances the author gets too general and redundant. On the whole, it is recommended reading for JavaScript programmers.
Rating: Summary: Too general for Intermediate programmers Review: The Books does a good job of explaining Javascript and designing simple function. For Intermediate programmers looking for tips in making your pages dynamic, this is not the book for you. Your best bet is surfing on the Internet.
Rating: Summary: Good book, but riddled with errors Review: Danny G's books are hard to beat, but typing in scripts that don't work isn't helpful to a beginner. After frustrating myself to the extent of delirium, I went to Danny's site and found that the book contained 44 script errors that were to be manually updated by the buyer. Does anyone test these before sending them to the publisher? Ever hear of a copyeditor? Buy the book, but buy a sharpie also to correct all the errors.
Rating: Summary: Step by step guide to all you need to know about JavaScript Review: The book is an excellent review and teaching aid on JavaScript. The authors must be congratulated for their great teaching skills and clear and ordered writing technique. Read the book and you'll now all you need about JavaScript.
Rating: Summary: Cool book....to bad that it has some minor bugs. Review: It's really a must-have for the javascript programmer. All the things I want to know....and even cross browser examples that I thought were only possible at either IE or Netscape. To bad that it contains a article about modifying the toolbar/statusbar etc. Too bad that it doesnt work on Netscape 4.6 or Internet Explorer 5. Might be my fault....but it's just unworthy of the greatness of this book.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: Quick, Easy, Understood. Used the Reference section the most
Rating: Summary: good book..but not for absolute amateurs Review: this book is covered topic by topic very well but the examples and some of the exercises in the tutorial are of advanced nature. ideal for someone with some programming knowledge ,but if u are a newcomer to programming world- need some supplementary javascript books when it comes to scripts and examples ( otherwise u really break ur head.)
