Summary: ¤ Reference manual for all! ¤
Review: Danny Goodman has outdone himself in this amazing reference manual! Starting with the Window Object and working down the DOM hierarchy, each chapter discusses the different objects and their properties, methods and events. The discussions and examples enable EVERYONE to understand how to implement Javascript code into their Website. This book has detail down to which browser and what version is compatible with the code you are about to write. This book would get 10 stars if that many were available.

Summary: very good book
Review: I use JavaScript and HTML every day on the job. I and others in my group have used this book and the Javascript: The Definitive Guide by Orielly book to design web sites for some large projects on the web. These two books seemed to have brought everyone up to at least upper level intermediate within a short time. The more advanced stuff is easily found on the web i think. It's a large book and well worth the price for me. I own a collection of Wrox books, and some from IDG press also. I believe this one and the other one i mentioned are a cut above.

Summary: Good examples in the book
Review: This book is very good at explaining the levels of programming in regards to JavaScript. Excellent examples, although it has quite a bit of fluff. At 1000 pages I thought I was getting a definative 'bible', but actually found a lot of code example in big text rather than in-depth explanations, which is what I expected. Good content, but not as thorough as I'd have hoped.

Summary: Almost commercially practical.....
Review: The javascript bible is a farily comrephensive book. Alot of useful examples. No assumptions are made on programming experience. Like most 1000 (approx) page books it is a bit too fluffy and wordy which slows the reading. Info is generally setout well for reference although sometimes the format becomes inconsistent but not enough to be confusing. Due to the large size getting around quickly through the book is awkward, especially when searching for specific info while coding. Each example shown however is complete.

Overall it is possible to extract the basics and get into accessing the D.O.M. upto an intermediate level. (Suitable for Lotus Notes developers who are not Javascript-literate). Best used when you have an objective in mind.

Summary: "The" Javascript book!
Review: The only book you will need for creating a vast array of Javascript functionality. I've had this book for over a year now, and it is one of the most-used books on my web design bookshelf. Easy to read, great examples, lots of pre-made scripts (though many have limited real-world applications). The CD is a bit lacking, but the book itself is what you are buying, and it's a winner. You will not regret buying this book.

Summary: Not for beginners.
Review: I am a beginner to programming. Armed only with HTML, I attempted to learn JavaScript with this book. And although I learned a lot, I found myself reading the first 12 chapters 3 times over just to understand it. If you're a beginner like me, try the SAMS book (avoid the QuickStart book unless you just want a mini cookbook of scripts). Although it was somewhat discouraging for me, I'm sure this will book will be a great reference once I have learned the basics, and I'm glad I own it.

Summary: Good JavaScript Reference
Review: I was able to find all the technical information for the JavaScript Objects. The examples that followed these JavaScript objects helped me in understanding the concepts clearly.

Summary: The book was Great!...CD,not so great!
Review: I am currently webmaster for an Educational Institution. I thought that this book had everything anyone would need to write javascript for their website. I liked the way that each chapter broke down all of the properties and methods in a logical manner. I also thought that the document object model was explained well. I particularly found the chapter on integrating Javascript for both Netscape and IE very useful. The only negative I found was that some of the examples on the CD were buggy.
