Summary: These are Great and very simple recipes
Review: This book is full of simple and delicious Slow Cooker recipes. It is also published in the Heart of Amish Country. Would these wonderful Amish, Menonite and Pennsylivania Dutch women lead you wrong? I didn't think they would, and I wasn't disappointed! I've even purchased copies for my two daughters...who are just starting out.

Summary: This is my most often used cookbook!
Review: With a busy family and little time to prepare meals, I have recently been turning to my crockpot for dinner prep. I love walking in the house after work and smelling dinner ready! No matter what I have in my fridge, ham, hamburger, chicken, pork chops, you name it, there are several recipes in this cookbook that I can prepare with ingredients I have on hand. The recipes are from "real" home cooks, so there are no funky, trendy ingredients or extended preparation techniques. Most recipes just have you dump the ingredients in, turn on the crockpot and leave! I have made the Ham in Cider and Ham 'n Cola, Easy Pork Chops, Italian Turkey Breast, and the Just Peachy Ribs. All were great, and were a definite change from the usual weeknight dinner. You will love it!

Summary: Excellent family-fare cookbook.
Review: This book is not for someone looking for "gourmet". It is, however, PERFECT for working parents to get good food you and your kids will like on the table, quickly. There are many, many, recipies, all down to earth, and out of 6 recipies I've tried so far, most my family rated "Good; would like to have it again". One (chicken tortilla soup) was a smash hit suitable for company (the kids wanted it in their lunch box thermos the next day); and, one (cowboy casserole) we didn't care for. A pretty good record, and all of them were pretty easy. One other thing: I am not wild about the texture of chicken or meat cooked in the crock pot, but all of the recipies I tried in this book are instantly adoptable to other cooking methods. If you've got kids, you need this book.

Summary: Simplicity = Great Meals!
Review: If you're looking for a slow cooker cookbook that gives you great receipes using ingredients that are commonly found in your home, you will love this cookbook!
After being married over 30 years, we were gettting tired of fixing the same old thing for dinner. The receipes in this book provide a wide range of main dishes, soups, deserts, beverages and side dishes for everyone. I normally do not enjoy cooking, but this cookbook has me checking off so many receipes I want to try! I've had the book a week, and have already tried several receipes - that everyone in the house loved!
I wish I had found this book sooner! You can't go wrong with this book!

Summary: Cattle call for recipes.
Review: Seems like the authors just did a cattle call for crock recipes. There are lots of recipes and most look fairly simple, which is good. I'm not sure if anyone tested them though. Also there seems to be many recipes that are listed with only a slight variation as a whole new recipe. All in all a good book (not great) and their are some unique recipes that I haven't seen elsewhere.

Summary: The Best Crock Pot cookbook ever.
Review: I work full-time and this cookbook has recipes that are quick and easy for the times when I need something fast to the more detailed recipes that I can make when I have more time. Every recipe that I have tried so far has been excellent. I would recommend this cookbook to every working person out there. You'll love it.

Summary: Throw out your other slow cooker cook books!
Review: This is by far, the best crock pot cook book that I have ever come across. The recipes are from real cooks - like you and me - and are extremely delicious and easy to prepare.

What I liked best about this book is that a lot of recipes have a couple of different versions. For example, when I made rice pudding, I had about five different recipes to choose from. Some had cooked rice, some didn't, some involved putting a dish inside the crock pot and some required different amounts of involvement from me.

The best thing about this book is that almost every recipe in it I can actually picture myself making. None of the recipes are too difficult or too fancy. Plus, the book is a great bargain because it offers more recipes for a lower price than the other slow cooker cook books.

This would make a great gift (with a brand new crock pot!) for a college student or someone getting married!

Summary: Nutritious Meals for Busy People
Review: We hate to cook, but restaurants, take-out and frozen foods have lost their appeal for my husband and me in our last 6 years as empty-nesters. Our new larger crock-pot and THIS book have been the answer! Since the larger cookers are far superior to their ancestors of the 70's, we were looking for interesting recipes that stretched beyond the lentil soup recipes of the older crock-pot cookbooks. On the other hand, we didn't want to have to make a special trip to the international market for exotic ingredients each time either. Lemon roasted chicken, beef burgundy, and the tenderest ribs ever are just a few of the great meals we've had from this collection. While some of the old crock-pot stand-bys are included: baked beans, chili, lentil soup, and one pot meals made with cream of mushroom soup and cheese, there are many newer and creative recipes that serve their purpose - easy to prepare with common home kitchen ingredients, ready when you get home for dinner, and delicious.

Summary: Very Disappointing
Review: This is a terrible cookbook, in my opinion. If I had seen it in a store I never would have bought it, and I feel misled by the many rave reviews here. It wasn't written by the "authors", but is a collection of recipes from amateur cooks of the sort who rely heavily on canned soups and processed cheese. (Ugh!) Also there are many recipes which are essentially duplicates of others. Lora Brody's book is good, but I was looking for something with more, but still good, recipes. This isn't it.

Summary: Saves me precious time!
Review: If you are like me your most precious commodity is time. Given my busy schedule, my only alternatives are: 1) take the family out to eat or 2) fix a meal quickly! This book saves me both time and money by giving recipes and an abundance of tips on how to efficiently use that old crock pot of mine.
Know someone in your life too busy to eat right. This book is for them. My best cookbook buy in a long, long time!
