Summary: Great for the cautious/timid cook!
Review: I was intimidated at first by this books vast majority of recipes all lacking photos. But one night out of desperation I picked it up in need of a recipe to match the ingredients I had on hand. I found that some recipes on the same page are variations of each other and it helped me to create my own recipe for that night. It is helpful when you are thinking, yea but I only have this ingredient and it calls for that, I don't know how it would turn out... I didn't even buy the book here but I love it so much I wanted to find some way to share what I thought of it.

Summary: Compilation of recipes without screening
Review: I felt that this cookbook culled the internet for all kinds of recipes and just threw them together without testing. Lots of them are the same recipes with one or two things different, and the quality of the end product was all over the place for me. I love my slow cooker, but i want to do more with it than just open several cans and dump them in. I prefer Rick Rodger's book - everything i have made from that book has been fantastic!

Summary: Definately Fix and Forget - Wonderful cookbook!
Review: I work second shift and my husband has both kids and himself to feed every evening so I decided to break out the crockpot. I've tried five recipes so far and we've loved every one. Most of the ingredients I had on hand which is nice to be able to look at the book in the morning, throw the stuff in the crockpot and forget about it! My husband loves not having to think about what to fix for everybody when he gets home and we end up with leftovers too, which I can take to work the next day and reheat. I must agree there are a lot of repeat recipes with different variations but there is a variety of main courses to choose from as well. You don't need to fix the same thing twice for a long time! I would definately recommed this book to others.

Summary: Truly Fix and Forget
Review: Having downsized my home by 6 children and with the death of my 93 year old mama; this book brought cooking back into my life. I had lost interest in being in the kitchen as I only knew how to make mass quantity food...most of the recipes are still large for just the two of us, but we have left overs and my husband enjoys taking that to work for lunches. I actually bought it through a quilting store (another of my addictions) so that I would have more time for quilting and still provide a good meal. Yes, there are a lot of repeats, but that's okay...variety is the spice of life. And for me this cookbook was a God-send for "home-cooking" and the opportunity to quilt at the same time. It's a fun book and I am giving one to each of my daughters for Christmas...hope they don't read this review!

Summary: Boring
Review: I agree with the ones who say lots of repeating the same recipe. I had high hopes, but, was unfortunately disappointed. I'm not one to return a cookbook, but this is going back! sorry

Summary: Help for the busy family
Review: Before having kids my husband and I loved to cook. Now, with two kids, we barely have time to eat. Along comes this cookbook and we are once again on the road to hot meals.

I really like the fact that this book has so many recipes, but I'm going to agree with others that many of them are very similar. There are plenty of stews and soups which I like but beef stew seems to be on every page. Also, don't expect anything more than comfort foods--nothing gourmet here.

All in all this is a good book. I bought it for much less than it is priced here, so if you can buy it used you may be happier with your investment.

Summary: Good food, but wish the book was more varied, index is poor.
Review: I like this book but it let me down in a way. I wanted real home cooking, not *gourmet cooking*--and I got that. But, I didn't expect to find 20 versions (or so it seems) of Beef Stew, 20 versions of Meatballs, 20 versions of Chicken cooked in Mushroom soup. The recipes aren't creative with the titles either. There's Ann's Speghetti, Mary Ann's Speghetti, etc, etc. (Fictional names, I'm sure, as I don't have my cookbook at my PC right now, but you get the idea). Very little difference between the recipes, maybe one or two ingredients.

It was as though the authors asked for recipes and then didn't want to offend anyone by leaving any of them out of the cookbook. Reading the recipes was confusing to me, some of them were so similar I thought at first some of the recipes were printed twice.

The index is a disaster. For instance, Apple Butter is listed under *Appetizers*. Apple Butter is a breakfast spread. Most people would think of it that way. It's not listed under *Breakfast* though. This doesn't make sense because some of the recipes are double-listed. There's Apple Cake listed under *Cakes* and then listed again under *Desserts*. It would have been less confusing, IMO, to list under Cakes, and then have other separate categories for the other desserts.

Aside from the negative, I have had this book a couple of weeks and I've cooked three meals from this book. All of the meals were great. My family raved about them and none of the food went to waste (great for the food budget). My family's reaction was the reason I gave the book three stars.

I have since looked in the stores for other crock pot cookbooks. Unfortunately, all the ones I've seen are full of *gourmet* recipes, which my sons, ages 20 and 16 refuse to eat. This book, even with it's flaws, is the only one out there with real home cooking. But, I wish the authors would re-do the book by taking out the duplicate recipes and fixing the index.

Summary: Fix It and Forget It Cookbook
Review: My mom had this cookbook and recommended me to get it after receiving a crock pot for my birthday. (Wish I had done it a lot sooner) 3-4 recipes on every page with helpful do's and don'ts. I ordered mine on a Monday morning and received it Thursday evening. I have never been unsatisfied with anything I have purchased. I plan on buying two more for a couple family birthdays that are coming up.

Summary: Can't wait to have my own Fix it and forget cook book--
Review: Two of my friends have this crock pot cook book and have shared recipes with me from it since I am know as the Crock Pot Queen. Being a mother of 4 and working full time I find my crock pot a life saver--but I was desperate for new recipes and easy ones. The recipes they have shared and given me taste samples from have been wonderful and they both claim they are very easy and none time consuming to prepare. So I just ordered the book for myself to have in my kitchen so I can continue crock pot magic.

Summary: Perfect for the summer
Review: This book is great for the summer in the South. It is too hot to heat the kitchen and after working all day, it's great to come home and have dinner ready.
