Summary: My absolute favorite cookbook EVER! Thank you, Ms. Patti!
Review: I have been cooking for years, not out of obligation, but because I get this incredible feeling from creating meals- it is my art. This is why I feel so connected (not in a "Single White Female" way!)to Patti LaBelle. Cooking is her art, it's her expression of love and devotion to her family and friends. I totally understood her fierce protection over her famous potato salad recipe- once you give it to someone, it no longer belongs to you. So, I understand what a loving sacrafice she has made by giving us this collection of incredible recipes. I particularly recommend her "Over the Rainbow" mac and cheese, her "Don't Block the Blessings" dressing (stuffing, for you "Stove Top" lot), her "Make You Wanna Holler" Maryland crab cakes, and her Aunt Mary's Philadelphia Butter cake. The stories behind the recipes is worth having even if you never cooked a single thing. Even if you are hopeless in the kitchen, if you follow these recipes to the letter, you'll even impress your mother-in-law!!

Summary: Something out of the ordinary
Review: Patti definitely adds some zip to your kitchen. Her recipes are a great getaway from the everyday ordinary cooking. Plus I'm a fan spicy foods. Cheers to you, Patti! You give soul food cooking a whole new name!

Summary: Sing With Patti In The Kitchen!
Review: I bought this book off of Amazon, never having seen it in the stores. What a pleasant surprise! I'd expected another book of soul-food, Southern cooking (which is what I was looking for). Ms. LaBelle's book has plenty of down-home-type recipies familiar to those of us in the South, such as her pot roast and her Southern fried chicken, but also has recipes that reflect a wider, more modern cooking trend, such as Caribbean fish steaks and shrimp fried rice. Her Macaroni and Cheese recipe is to die for!

Unlike so many other 'celebrity' cookbooks, the recipes here are well-written and easy to follow. I've cooked a couple of dozen recipes here, and all have worked as published.

This cookbook can be a terrific introduction to Southern cooking as well as an illustrated biography of its author. I've been a fan of LaBelle for many years and was delighted to read her autobiographical segments. This book is a great blend of cookbook and memoirs, and can be enjoyable even if only for reading!

Summary: Makes You Wanna Sing!
Review: I collect cookbooks, and Patti Labelle's "Labelle Cuisine" one of my most used. I have made many of the recipes in "Labelle Cuisine" and they all were delicious. Even the "Perfectly Steamed Rice" recipe was perfect! To anyone who is trying to impress I highly recommend the "Cornish Hens with Shallot Gravy". This is one of my favorites and my husband and children love it also. I also highly recommend the "Over The Rainbow Macaroni And Cheese" it will become a household favorite. Girlfriend really can cook!

Summary: Rock & Roll & Biscuit Treats
Review: "Whether cooking or singing," writes soul diva Patti LaBelle, "I feel at ease, at peace, at one with the world." The stories she tells about cooking for family and friends in LaBelle Cuisine (written with Laura B. Randolph) don't sound all that peaceful, but are intriguing.

Mick Jagger woke her up in the middle of the night and pleaded for soul food for his band (those wacky guys), and while cooking liver for Arsenio Hall, she set off smoke alarms in a Las Vegas hotel.

LaBelle's promise to reveal "my ancestors' treasured recipes," is one of mouth-watering anticipation. Grandmother Tempie's Flying Biscuits were fine; Slammin' Shrimp Creole tastes as hot as Ms. LaBelle's dynomite vocal prowess.

This is a cookbook with spicy stories and great eats.

Summary: Gettin Better each time I try it!.....
Review: I reviewed this book before, see below....I'm reviewing it again because I have tried some more of the recipies in the past year and let me tell you...I gained some weight! Now I have to get a membership at CRUNCH fitness. This book is the bomb, Patti is going to have to write a low-fat version! For those of you who don't get it, read below to see my original review. (Peacefulspirit_2000; I forgot my original password and had to reregister again).

Summary: A cookbook as dynamic as Patti herself
Review: This multi talented woman not only has a great set of pipes but is a diva in the kitchen as well. I love cookbooks but this is one that I use rather than put on a shelf. She shares recipes from her famlly and friends and willingly gives her "special secrets" to terrific cooking. If you are looking for an excellent cookbook that you will use, then don't pass this one up. In fact, buy two so you have one that looks good on your shelf and one that you will have stained with use!

Summary: This is the Best Cook Book Ever.
Review: Patti LaBelle is one of my favorite recording artists and now she is one of my favorite chef's. These receipes are awsome. My girlfriends and I have been passing this book around. I even gave one to a friend as a gift. Patti's Wicked Peach Cobbler and her Screamin' Mean Green's were a hit on this past Thanksgiving. Anyone thinking about buying this book should. It it well worth it.

Summary: Singing with her
Review: Loved this book, and tried two recipes immediately: sweet potatoe pie (only, add vanilla and use condensed milk :-) and banana cream pie. Both were great, and I can't wait to make her smothered pork chops and macaroni and cheese. I like the way the book looks and her anectodes as well. It makes you feel appreciative to be privy to these famous family recipes.

Summary: AWESOME COOKBOOK! 1
Review: THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST COOKBOOKS I HAVE EVER PURCHASED. IT HAS SOMETHING IN IT FOR EVERYONE. I HAVE PURCHASED AT LEAST 12 OF THESE BOOKS FOR OTHER PEOPLE AFTER THEY READ MINE. PATTI REALLY KNOWS HER WAY AROUND THE KITCHEN. I CAN NOT GET ENOUGH OF HER RUM CAKE OR MEATLOAF, THEY ARE GREAT RECIPES. EVERY SERIOUS COOK WHO LOVES GOOD FOOD SHOULD BUY THIS BOOK!
