Rating: Summary: Funny, Yet Very Sad Review: This book is hilarious, but it also made me sad. It is hard to understand how someone (Limbaugh) would day after day go on the air and make up "facts". It is also frightening that a lot of people will believe whatever Mr. Limbaugh says. He states that there are more trees in America now than were here in 1492, and millions of ditto heads nod up and down in agreement. There is plenty of room for various political philosophies in this country, but to me it is immoral to state things as true when they are not. In addition to making us laugh, Al Franken has made us wary again of demagogues following in the footsteps of Father Coughlin, Huey Long and Joseph McCarthy.
Rating: Summary: Typical Liberal Garbage Review: It would take much too long to comment on all of the errors in liberal policies here, but, briefly, I believe that I should point something out: Who should care if Newt Gingrich or Bob Dole or Rush Limbaugh were married once, twice or five times? What difference does that make? So, Rush Limbaugh is overweight. What difference does that make to his ideas, his principles? Absolutely none. It should not matter to anyone that Rush has been married more than once, because it is his ideas that are important to us, not his personal life. Similarly, the number of women that Bill Clinton has had "improper relations with" should not matter to Americans because that is none of their business. The same treatment should be given to Republicans, Rush Limbaugh included. But Al Franken's reaction is quite typical of liberals today: They cannot attack the message, so they have to attack the messenger. Sure, liberal deficit spending might be wrong, it might unfairly burden future generations with a huge national debt, but, hey, Rush Limbaugh is fat, so don't listen to him. He has been married several times, you know! Typical liberal nonsense. The facts are not important to Al Franken, and he resorts to namecalling and character assassinations aimed at Republicans (though I'm sure that he would be amongst the first to complain if the target was Bill Clinton) in this book. A piece of garbage, but probably worth reading if you enjoy laughing away your time reading liberal nonsense.
Rating: Summary: Al Franken Rules! Review: This is funniest book I have ever read. How could anyone be a Ditto-Head after reading this book? I guess people are proud to be stupid.
Rating: Summary: Hilarious - do not hesitate to buy this book! Review: This is one of the funniest, most intelligent books I've ever read (and yes, for all you Republicans, I'm well-read). In fact, the only people who wouldn't like it are Rush fans and/or Republicans who don't realize what a moron Rush is and a bunch of lying, hypocritical jerks the people Al busts on are. This is a hilarious expose on both. I hated to put it down.
Rating: Summary: Only so-so Review: I am a moderate democrat, and I like to think I have a good sense of humor, but I didn't like this book as much as I thought I was going to. Some parts were very funny, but the gushing about the Clintons got real old real fast. I wasn't offended by anything in this book, but some of it just wasn't funny. Worth checking out from the library, but not buying.
Rating: Summary: Fighting fire with fire Review: The ratings on this book are apt to be a poll on one's attitude towards Rush Limbaugh as anything. And I will confess to detesting Rush Limbaugh, especially his distortion of facts and substitution of ridicule for rationale discussion. Which leads to Frank? Is Al Franken fair to Rush Limbaugh? Does he engage in rational discussion when ridicule and parody will suffice instead? Absolutely, and that is the beauty of the book. Rush laid down the ground rules of how he would proceed and he and his fans have no grounds for complaint if someone uses those same rules against him. Though Franken's jibes are not without substance. It is hypocritical to berate constantly liberals for being anti-family when you have been married three times like Rush or have an affair with the wife of a colleague while you are married yourself, like Newt Gingrich. Luckily, the book has merits above poking fun at fat chat show hosts or adulterous Speakers of the House. It is funny.
Rating: Summary: The most hilarious thing I have ever read. Review: The greatest satire I have ever read. Al Franken lines conservatives up and systematically shoots them down in this side-splitting, almost pee-in-your-pants funny. Conservatives will despise this, most assuredly. It gives liberals ammunition to shoot down every conservative policy. Rush takes the severest beating, but no conservative is safe. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: Franken is right on the money Review: Al Franken proves that those folks on the right are absolutely wrong. Franken sheds light on the constant hypocrisy of the conservative movement. Mr.Limbaugh is an embarrassment, and it's about time that somebody showed what a blowhard he actually is. This book made me very proud to be a liberal.
Rating: Summary: Hilarious! yet truthful. Review: It's really, really funny. Al Franken unravel Rush Limbaugh's lies and all the republican's hypocricy in the most humorous fashion. This book is just not only funny, but informative as well; Did you know that Newt Gingrich -- who attacks Bill Clinton for destroying the family values in the U.S. -- divorced his wife in the hospital with cancer? AND did not pay the alimony for his OWN kids until he was forced to in court? I really hope that all the Americans could read this book and learn about what's wrong with the U.S. politics today - while you laugh your butt off.
Rating: Summary: David Potter Loves Al Franken! Review: I am a stanch Republican and I agree with Mike Lurie who said that this was the greatest political book he has ever read. It is concise, informative and quite funny. I have actually reformed as a result of reading it and now consider myself a flaming liberal! Megadidiots...
