Summary: Cliff Lives On...
Review: After the loss of bassist Cliff Burton, Metallica fought through a copious amount of audition material to find Jason Newsted. The thing is, I wonder why they even bothered to find a new bassist. Throughout the entire album, the bass has been meticulously and entirely eradicated from every single track. Hetfield has even said himself that the reasoning for this was to show the 'Newkid' that he was no Cliff Burton, put him in his place, so to speak - which leads me to the question, why bother hiring him to play bass for an album where he is virtually inaudible? With that being said, I still enjoy the album, which the bulk of tracks was written by Burton. Best bits? The unforgettable, 'One', 'Harvester of Sorrow' and the beautifully composed (by Burton) 'To Live is to Die'.

Summary: Best Metallia album to date
Review: I believe this is the best Metallica album to date. Their sound and talents have really grown with every album. Kill Em All, Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets are all great albums, but the song writing, drums and guitars destroy on this album. 'Dyer's Eve' is the best song on the track, Lars going all out on the double bass and James just screaming his contempt at controlling parents maes you want to head bang.

Every track on here is great and picking a best one was hard. All i have to say is give it some time, sit down and listen to the whole album, or have it in the background, like when you work out (by the way, Metallica is the best music to work out too) and your love for this album will grow. No doubt Cliff's death hurt, but they came back and showed that his spirit is still with them and that this is what he would want.

It is true that when going through great tribulations, your real character is shown, and their character is extraordinary.

Summary: what was I thinking?
Review: I take back exactly what I said, Metallica is not a good band at all. They are just a stupid thrash band that decides to play the same riffs over and over and Kirk Hammett just does fingertapping on his solos(it took me two seconds to learn how to fingertap!). This album [stinks], James Hetfield [stinks], Jason Newsted [stinks], Kirk Hammett [stinks], and of course Lars Ulrich [stinks]. Why are you guys still around!? If you want rocking music stick to Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Blind Melon.

Summary: "Can't tell if this is true or dream..." It's that good...
Review: To this day, ...And Justice For All still gives me that tingling feeling inside because it's that good. The death of Cliff Burton to this band was a big blow, as he was a true genious at bass and like a brother to the rest of the members. As a result the band threw all their rage and grief into this album, which shows in the impressive lyrical content, which is extremely dark and reminiscent. The guitar riffs are amazing as they are explosive, loud, and dominating and James's intensity matches the music perfectly. The guitar work by Hammett couldn't flow any better and each song shows the complexity and variety he put in to this album. Most Metallica fans believe Master of Puppets is the band's best effort, which of course I agree is an amazing album which exceptional musical content, but I believe this album is deeper and more meaningful because of the loss of Burton. It allowed the band to display its fury in a constructive way, through the music, and Cliff would definitely be proud of what the boys did here. The passion is overwhelming in this album and I don't think any other metal album will ever be able to touch this one.

Summary: My favorite Metallica album!
Review: ...And Justice For All is in my opinion Metallica's peak which holds steady through the Black Album. I like all the songs on this album. This is a must have album if you remotely enjoy metal. The only complaint I have is there isn't much bass, or production quality isn't great. Hopefully, this CD will get remastered with more bass.

Summary: WHO GIVES A ...IF THEY MADE A VIDEO!?
Review: metallica might have lost a few fans on this cd, simply because they made their first video...for "one". Who cares though, if you were in their position, think of it, more money, and an oppurtunity to grab a bigger fan base. This is my favorite metalliac cd. its great, a cd whose lyrics seem like they belong to little anarchy bands. It doesn't matter. This cd is worth it. I bought this cd used for $..., and i wore it out, and had to buy it new. go get it!

Summary: You've heard the rest....now check out the best!!!!
Review: Bob Rock molded these guys into shape in the late '80s, much like Robert John "Mutt" Lange did with Def Leppard. I often wish that Mutt Lange would have produced an album in the '80s with Metallica, in fact, as I think the results would have been stupendous. But Bob Rock did a good job on this one, much better than his lame work with Motley Crue. Motley Crue stink, but these guys are the real fizzle on the dizzle - as Snoop Doggy Dogg would boast. If it hadn't have been for Bob Rock, Metallica would have been just a bunch of nobody losers from San Francisco.

It's hard to argue with masterpieces like "One" and "To Live is to Die." Metallica created a symphony of metal on this record that hasn't been created before or since, except for a few Megadeath records. Megadeath were probably a step above Metallica in terms of songwriting and showmanship, but what the hey. On this album, Hetfield growls menacingly, the drums click, and the guitars wail with scary abandon - it's all here!!

Best of all, the boys from Metallica spout off about social injustice on this record, of which there was a lot of in 1988.

You've heard the rest, but now it's time to check out the best.

Thanks....

Summary: The last Metallica album to follow the "formula"
Review: "...And Justice For All" follows the same structural pattern as "Ride The Lightning" and "Master Of Puppets": side one consists of the fast opener, epic title track, sludgy slower third tune, and the powerful ballad. Side two invariably ends with a combination of a long instrumental and another fast thrasher. Yep, the good old days.

Buy this album.

Summary: the Mid era of a great band
Review: I missed Cliff on this album , true newsted did a good job trying and i do mean trying to live up to CLiffs greatness. I will honestly say that Jason Newsted is a good bassist he did make a great solo effort with Metallica . THe music is heavy and influencial in this album. I"m a diehard CLiff years metallica fan so for me to say all this is saying that this still is a great metallica album. True its not my favorite but its a great album none the less. Blackend has great riffs and lyrics, ONe of course is the very best song on this album. It did show that metallica still had their Roots in them along with some tone down metal as well. This album is great it was defintely one of the last 2 great metallica albums. Newstead did a great job on this album with this legendary band. I owe that to him. He will never in my eyes match cliff Burtons status but I would still defintely recommend this album if you like a lot of the true metallica stuff.

Summary: Trilogy Of Terror- Part 3
Review: I've listened to the so called Metallica fans over the years scream bloody murder every time the band tries something new. "...And Justice For All" was no exception. People were horrified by the production quality, claiming that it sounded as if it were recorded in a giant tin can. After all, this was Jason Newsted's first studio outing with Metallica; and his bass was barely noticible! Still, regardless of the production values (which never bothered me much), this is, in my opinion, Metallica's finest hour. "Blackened" conjures images of a scorched, dead earth, destroyed by our own stupidity. The title track is without a doubt the most progressive, complicated assault on our injustice system ever conceived! "Eye Of The Beholder" examines art, free speech, censorship, etc. and brings the idiocy of book and record burnings to my mind for some reason. "One" is well known. I have never been moved or disturbed by music. This song gave me chills. "The Shortest Straw" is a punishing little ditty about the crucifixion awaiting those who dare to speak out, or even be different. "Harvester Of Sorrow" covers abuse extremely well. "The Frayed Ends Of Sanity" has that ultra-cool "wizard of oz" beginning! It speaks of the suffocating paranoia and crippling anxiety resulting from being a prisoner of our own fears. "To Live Is To Die" is the mostly instrumental, post-mortem tribute to Cliff Burton. It's eerie to hear even now. "Dyer's Eve" deals with the ugliness of over-protection and social retardation, along with the explosive, internal rage generated by past events. Remember, this album came out in 1988. The radio and MTV were stale, homogenized, bubblegum showcases. Music was in a state of synthetic free-fall! Metallica was one of the (very) few bands putting out music with any intelligent lyrical content whatsoever! When I look back, it's a miracle "...And Justice For All" was ever made! This album is a milestone...
