Summary: Astounding
Review: The swirling, odd-metered riffs of "Blackened". The epic sprall of "...And Justice For All". The sinister march of "Harvester Of Sorrow". The churning and complex buildup of "One". The raw unfiltered aggression of "Dyer's Eve". There are just too many classics to list. If it wasn't for the awful production, this would be perfect. Progressive metal's genesis.

Summary: MY ULTIMATE FAVORITE METAL ALBUM!!!!
Review: TOO CLASSIC FOR WORDS!! MAY YOUR EARS BE THE JUDGEMENT OF METALLICA'S MUSICAL LANDMARK!!

BLACKENED!!!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Heavy Metal defined.
Review: It may take a short time to get used to the 'different' sound of this album (due its production), but once you get past that, you get to experience Metallica at their peak. This album is
unbelievable. Every single song truly rocks, and has the epic feel to it. And to top it off, there's one song noticeably superior to the others ("One"). Ironically, I didn't really notice this song the first time I heard it, only after subsequent listens did I realise what it was I had stumbled onto. This is easily one of my all-time favourite songs, if not my favourite.

You'll be amazed at the complexity of the songs, the riffs, the solos, the composition, the heaviness! Every single song is HEAVY. (Unlike previous records where there were one or two ballads.) This album kicks off with a fiery start and simply doesn't ever let up. The sound is more progressive than previous albums, so if you like progressive, you'll lap it up. And if you don't well you'll still lap it up. This is true metal. Just listen to the intro for "Blackened", and you'll get the feel of this album, and you'll see what I mean...

I honestly can't say whether it's better than (the sometimes overrated) Master of Puppets - hard to choose...let's just say this album is underrated, and I say it more than deserves a place in any metalhead's collection.
And don't worry about the production. Once you've discovered this album and gotten attached to it like I have, nothing else will detract from it.

Summary: Amazing can't even descrie this album
Review: Now its 1988 and you have lost your bassist cliff burton in a bus accident just released what is said to be your best cd to date " master of puppets" well listen to " and justice for all" and you will know how. This album is amazing end of story Kirk's guitar solo's are great Lar's drumming skills seem to only get better and James's vocals & song writing is quite possible there best on this album. I'll list my review on the songs below....

Blackened 9/10 - I think this is a great start to the album the guitars and drums here are fast & heavy

And Justice for all 9/10 - The title track for this album, I think james does a great job with his vocals here

Eye of the beholder 8/10 - Not my favorite song on this cd but James's style of vocals in this song save it from being bad

One - 100000000/10 No this is not a typo, This is probably my 3rd favorite song of all time its amazing Kirk's solo is perfect James's lyrics? poetry, Lars does an amazing job on the drums also amazing.

The shortest straw 10/10 - Some people may say the production on this album is fair at best and i agree and they say on the shortest straw it really shows i disagree this song is one of the best on this album in my opinion

Harvester of sorrow - 9/10 You can really feels James's pain in this song another incredible track

The frayed ends of sanity 8/10 - I htink this is the only song where Kirk's guitars could be better but its still a very good track & lars really out does himself with the drums here

To live is to die - 9/10 - I guess you could call this an insturmental song but there is a few lyrics but not many a dedication to the late bassist Cliff burton

Dyers Eve 9/10 - A great end to this album fast guitars & angry lyrics

In conclusion i think this is a superb album, production could have been a bit better & you can rarely here Jason's bass. Other then that though its an amazing album

Summary: Not so hot.
Review: A great deal of Metallica fans consider this to be their last great work. I disagree. This has to be one of the flatest sounding albums I've ever heard. Most of the album sounds uninspired. The drums have absolutely no punch at all, the riffs are flat, the solos sound miniscule, and as pointed out by many other reviewers, Jason's bass is completely inaudible. He should have stayed with Flotsam and Jetsam. The only songs that I like are "To live is to die" and "Dyer's eve". Those two songs and the lyrics are, in my opinion, the only good aspects about this album. Well, at least it's light years ahead of "St. Anger".

Summary: So what if there's no bass!
Review: Raw and aggressive. One of 'tallica's finest offerings. Hetfield's vocals were at their best here...what a roar!!

Summary: Great Album. 4.5 stars
Review: ...And Justice For All is Metallica's best album mussicaly. I think that the only real problem with this album is the lack of bass. Metallica was mourning over the death of Cliff and that inspired them to write some amazing music on this record. Once again, Kirk Hammett dazles us with solos. The guitar sound isnt great on this album, but its grown on me. They sound to artificial. Being a guitarist I love Metallica. Great riffs and great solos. No other artists today give me that. Here is a review of the songs.

Blackened- 9.5
A sequal to Fight Fire With Fire from Ride The Lightning. Very good song. Great intro. Nice solo as well. James and Lars wrote some great lyrics for this song.

And Justice For All- 8
This song clocks in at 9 minutes but youll love it. Great lyrics.

Eye of The Beholder- 5
An ok song. Decent lyrics and thats about it.

One- 10
One of the best Metallica songs ever wrote. James and Lars really outdid themselves on this song. It starts out slow but not that slow. At about 5 min into the song it gets real heavy. I love that part. Your jaw will have dropped by the end of this song.

Shortest Straw- 7
Good song. Sick solo

Harvester of Sorrow- 7.5
Good song. Nice lyrics and solo

Frayed Ends of Sanity- 8.5
I love the riff. Good lyrics and guitar as well.

To Live Is To Die- 8
Pretty much an instrumental. Great solo. Good midsection as well.
Its one of those sections that make you get all emotional and remember better days.

Dyers Eye- 9
YAAAAAA!!! If you ever pissed at your parents listen to this song. Best solo on the cd. Hetfield sounds great as well

Go out and buy this album now!

Summary: The LAST Best METALLCA album!!
Review: I've heard many people say the sound production of AJFA was the worst. In my opinion it has to be THE BEST production of any Metallica record! If anyone listening to Metal in the late 80s/ early 90s will remember, the sound at the time was VERY slick and VERY overproduced. Every metal band had that "big budget" sound. Metallica gave the big "FU" and broke convention by offering a more parred down sterile production that many later metal bands like Helmet would try to emulate. I'd have to say Metallica did for Metal what Nirvana did for popular Rock music at the time. Listen to Lar's bass drum, it's high and not very bassy. Every metal band from Pantera to Fear Factory would later emulate that bass drum sound. And it's practically a staple sound for many Grindcore/Death metal bands today. If you dont own AJFA do yourself a favore and get it, listen to it, and prepared to be blown away by this masterpiece! because you'll likely never to hear a better release from Metallica again.

Summary: "Jason Newsted's First, & 'Tallica's last Masterpiece"
Review: This 1988 album is easily Metallica's last masterpiece. Released just 3 years prior to "The Black Album", and 2 1/2 years after "Master of Puppets", it is the album that introduced the world to the "new" Metallica. "One (track 4)" became their first ever single release and music video on MTV. The "Damaged Justice" Tour in 1989, also helpled this album sell with the public. The production is very guitar/drums oriented, but James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich, took most of the production credits for the Metallica albums released in the 1980's. If you are already famililiar with the song "One", you should also check out "Harvester of Sorrow", 'Eye of the Beholder", and the last track "Dyers Eve." This was Jason Newsted's first full-length effort with the gang, and is probably the last great Metallica album, before "The Black Album" mania of 1991, 1992, & 1993. I suggest you get it used for half the price, or wait until Metallica releases a Greatest Hits package, to get "One" & "Harvester of Sorrow" on 1 disc.

Summary: THE LAST GREAT ALBUM OF METALLICA.
Review: In my view this is metallica's last great album and without a doubt worth owning. This album is full of fury and great songwriting.Alot of critics complain that the songs are too long, but that is a petty complaint when you really think about it.I dont mind listening to long songs as long as they are good. The lyrics are intelligent and thought provoking, not like the silly nonsense of load or st anger.Metallica was once about the passion for music, but now they are about money and lars ulrich acting like a jackass with an over inflated ego.GO OUT AND BUY THIS ALBUM TODAY!!!
