Summary: The Greatest...
Review: I have owned this record for about 7 years, and it still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. When I first listened to it, I hated it. I have no idea why. I put it away for a few days and went back and gave it another spin. From then on, I've been a changed person. It didn't alter my life beyond recognition, but if I had never heard this record, I dont't know what would have happened to me from a musical taste standpoint. I could have ended up listening to Dave Matthews or Phish, or some other awful band. If for some ungodly reason you do not own this record, either order it right now, or head to Karma and get it.

Summary: The Greatest Album Ever Recorded!
Review: AJFA is without a doubt the greatest album ever recorded. Many people call Master of Puppets tallica's greatest but that's not right. AJFA is more complex, longer, heavier, and in my opinion faster. Blackened is get's you headbanging so fast it's not even funny. AJFA (title track) is my favorite song of all time. It's heavy, a pretty good speed, long as hell and it's just plain awesome. Eye of the Beholder is a nice heavy tune that fun to headbang to. What hasn't been said about "One?" It's one of the best songs ever written and there's no doubt why. It starts rather dark and very melodic and then get's down right fast. The last 2 minutes are incredibly fast and the solos are blistering. Harvester of Sorrow is an awesome song. It's one of those tunes that gets you pumped up and makes you feel like you're invincible. It's hard as hell and the main riff kicks ... The Shortest Straw is surprising fast and with good lyrics it rocks as well. The Frayed Ends of Sanity starts with something strait out of the Wizard of Oz but when it starts up it's fast and it has a great solo. To Live Is To Die was written in memory of Cliff Burton, they're first bassist. It's slower than the majority of songs on this album but it's probably their best instrumental. It's long and very emotional. And to close out the album is the very fast Dyer's Eve. For all of those double bass lovers, AJFA is the tallica album that has the most double bass. This album rocks and rank, in my book and in many others', as the greatest album ever!

Summary: Despite the bad production, this is worth your money
Review: This is another great Metallica album, the 4th of 5 great releases. The first one with Jason Newsted, and if he wasn't so underplayed by the bad production, we'd see how great he truly was. I can safely say from watching them live that he is a talented bassist. Anyways, you can barely hear the bass on this album, but if you can get past that, this may be Metallica's best album. Definitely their most mature and complex. This shows some very mature songwriting, while still staying true to thrash, something the Black album didn't always do(don't get me wrong, I love the Black album, but it's certainly not as thrashy as this). The riffs and time changes are great. Kirk Hammet plays some of his best solos here, namely "One", but all of his solos are quite good. This was the first album where I noticed how great a drummer Lars is. I don't know if it's me or if he just plays alot better on this album, either way, he sounds great. Some highlights:

Blackened - Wow! What a great way to start an album like this. Fantastic time changes and then a great solo. Cool.

...And Justice For All - Great riffs in this song. A 10 minute epic with great lyrics.

One - If you haven't heard this song, it's pretty much worth the price of the album. All i can say is that it's one of Metallica's best songs ever, with one of the best solos ever.

To Live is To Die - Another rather long track, it's mostly instrumental with great riffs and solos.

All the songs are great, and I would recommend this to any Metallica fan. I'm sure you will enjoy it.

Summary: Am I the only one that doesn't get it?
Review: What was the big deal with this album?... One is good, yeah, it's the one Metallica song everyone knows, I don't care who you are, where you live or how old you are. Yeah, it's great. Everybody knows that guitar part in the middle, I don't have to describe it, you know what I mean... Didn't this win some kind of Grammy or something, for what, worst album of the year? Buy the single of One, excellently inspired by Johnny Go HIs Gun (movie/book) and the video is great, one of the most groundbreaking and memorable. Ok wait, let's just run One on here 6 or 7 times and rename it One, then it'll be good.

Summary: Good album
Review: A very good CD, with very complicated songs. Here's the songs:
Blackened: cool, but i don't like the middle part
..And Justice for All: coming in at almost 10min, this song is awesome. Awesome entry, lyrics, solo, and finale.
Eye of the Beholder: I love the riff in this song, but this song can get stuck in your head easily.
One: an awesoeme song about being alone in the world. this song always makes me happy, i don't know why. I love this song because it starts off slow, and then puts it into drive and just goes wild. What happened to the bass in this song?? sounds like justin took a break during this song and didn't even play his bass. but still it's awesome.
The Shortest Straw: pretty cool
Harvester of Sorrow: i don't know how metallica came up with a song called "harvester of sorrow", but this song is awesome.
Frayed ends of Sanity: Not as good as Harvester of Sorrow, but pretty close.
To live is to die: an instrumental WAY better than Orion, and 4sec longer than ...And Justice for All
Dyer's Eve: a very cool song
Overall it's a very good CD.

Summary: Metallica's Magnum Opus
Review: An epic of an album, ...AND JUSTICE FOR ALL marks Metallica's most musically mature album to date. With subjects ranging from insanity to political corruption, Metallica not only take a step forward musically but lyrically, and coming off of the death of former bass player Cliff Burton, this album shows that they weren't about to contain their anger. The furious riffs crash into each other at an amazing pace and solos sear through the music at speeds practically unmatchable. There are, of course, exceptions, like the epic "One." Beginning somber and contained, the solos sound more beautiful than angry. It too, however, slowly grows into a ferocious heavy metal beast in it's own right. There's also the tearjerking instrumental tribute to Cliff Burton, "To Live As To Die," another gem, clocking in at about 9:48. This album, listened to from beginning to end, will leave your brain as soup after every listen, but hey, that's not necessarily a bad thing!

Summary: This is a great heavy metal album indeed!
Review: This album proved that Metallica could write great music and lyrics without the help of the late Cliff Burton. I don't mean any disrespect at all but James and Lars knew what they were doing all along, they didn't need help. Anyways I will give a breif description of the songs and a rating for each one.

Blackened- A good song with a great intro. Great riffs but somewhat odd lyrics. 4/5

...And Justice For All- A beautiful acoustic intro. Great lyrics and great riffs. A great song in general. 5/5

Eye of the Beholder- An eerie song about society's downfall. Interesting lyrics and riffs. 4/5

One- A classic Metallica song with great solos. Uses the same formula as Fade to Black and Welcome Home (Sanitarium), the soft verse and heavy chorus and lighting-fast ending. 5/5

The Shortest Straw- A good thrash song with cool riffs. Probably the weakest track on the album though. 3/5

Harvester of Sorrow- Another classic Metallica song that is always on the setlist at concerts. Great chorus and the shortest song on the album next to Dyer's Eve. 5/5

The Frayed Ends of Sanity- Another weak track due to the fact that it is too long. A good thrashy song though. 3/5

To Live is to Die- A near 10 minute tribute to the late Cliff Burton. Beautiful melodys and great guitar work. A very good tribute song indeed. 5/5

Dyer's Eve- Probably the fastest song Metallica has ever done. Great lyrics and a great thrash song because it clocks in at 5:12. A perfect way to end the album. 5/5

So there you have it, ...And Justice For All only has 2 average songs and the rest are great. A great album from a great band. In my opinion, every one that is a heavy metal fan should own this album. That is my review of ...And Justice For All and I hope I have inspired some of you that don't have it to go out and get it.

Summary: The greatest heavy metal CD ever created
Review: Its very sad but you look in magazines saying that Motley Crue or Slayer has the best metal CD ever but they always underlook this one. Truly its brutal and honest and takes no prisoners. The album truly has no flaws except for the fact that because of the crappy production the bass guitar of Jason Newstead is no where to be heard. But the album drags you in with the creepy beginning to Blackened but then slays your senses in the most brutal fashion by shoving an onslaught of speed metal. But the albums glory no doubt belongs to To Live Is Too Die. If you understand the big story of Cliff Burtons death then this song brings tears to your eyes. Metallica show they have hearts but writing the most beautiful peace of music in the past century. Not to down tracks like Shortest Straw and Harvestor Of Sorrows kill you over and over again with hallacious lyrics and brutal licks. One is one of Metallicas masterpieces. It is simply amazing from every aspect. It has a brutal end and is killer start to finish. And to justiy the albums superioty the last track Dyers Eve is Metallicas fastest and hardest song to date. It is rumored that it is so hard that the band cant even play it! Kirk does his best solo ever and Jaymz does wonderful double tracking on the song. The rest of the albums tracks are mostly overlooked but are truly masterpieces in their own right. The album truly has no flaws at all from start to finish. I still dont understand how Hetfeild was able to double track with such persistions.
For sure And Justice For All is Metallicas best work. Forget the Black Album or Master Of Puppets, And Justice For All is the greatest work of metal the world will ever know.
