Summary: The Best Metallica Album Ever
Review: In my humble opinion And Justice For All is the benchmark for all other metal bands to strive for. This album just plain ROCKS! This is a must have for the true Metallica fan.

Summary: Great Album!
Review: This is a great album! Buy it! I just wanted to address the people like an earlier reviewer who "gave up" on Metallica after Load and said that any "true" Metallica fan should do the same. Get a Life! I have every Metallica CD except Re-Load (which I will buy soon) and I love all of them. The new stuff isn't as heavy as the old stuff but its still great. Even if you don't like it as much you shouldn't say that no "true" Metallica fan would listen to it. You're the one who's not the "true" fan. A true fan is someone who sticks by their favorite band even if their last album or two wasn't as good as their old ones. All bands soften up a bit as the age, look at the Stones, how many hits have they had since 1980? It happens to everyone, and Metallica is still a great band. S & M is a great album! Even if they aren't the heaviest band in the world anymore, they are still the best band in the world!

Summary: The extraordinary last album of Metallica
Review: The Elegy: the swansong of Metallica. Every song written after this album is irrelevant in the history of Metallica. The MUSIC on this album (despite the bad production) is among the finest Metallica has ever created.

but a sad cloud hangs over this album because the fans know the Metallica is about to die.

because these are some of the best songs Metallica has ever created, (to live is to die, one, eye of the beholder) this is an important album in the history of heavy metal.

any true fan of metallica understands the significance of this album. and we know, unfortunately, what happens to Metallica after this recording. tragedy indeed.

R.I.P. METALLICA 1981 - 1988.

Summary: Massive!
Review: Metallica's third album, And Justice for All..., released in 1988 has removed most of the Thrash, and in its place remained the massively technical, drum, guitar riff dominated atonal musical structure. And Justice For All is a display of a band at its peak, creatively, musically, and otherwise. James Hetfields guitar work is masterful, and without error. His vocals are the perfect balance between youthful energy, angst, and mature deepness. His lyrics, though never anything special. He covers a wider variety of topics from political corruption in the title track, to destruction of the environment in Blackened. Especially moving, is the surprisingly intimate Dyers Eve, a bitter tirade to his parents, where he openly addresses them screaming "Dear mother, Dear father, what is this hell you have put me through.?". The ten minutes of instrumental evolution in To Live Is To Die, is stunning in its complexity, and emotional quality. The song peaks not once, but twice! Jason Newsted, the new bassist replacing the deceased Cliff Burton, is hardly audible, and like in many other metal acts, his bass plays an insignificant role in the music. Lars Ulrich drumming is technical, complex, machine-like, and the backbone of every song and thrust the music forward. Every bang of the drums is clear, sharp, and precise, and an integral part of the "metallic" feel of the album. Kirk Hammet again plays only solos, but this time his solos are so blazing, dynamic and tight, that they have an inhumane quality about them: they sound computerized and metallic. When he leads, his guitar takes total control of the music and the listeners attention. One gets the felling that he can take the music and the listener anywhere direction he wants. The only critique Justice For All is vulnerable to is that the sound is sterile and the songs are too long. Some people complain that the sound is too sterile and machinelike; void of error, soul, and passion. It is true the music is logical and without mistakes, but that what is makes Metallica great, and some people like me love that sound. If you don't like that sound, don't bother with And Justice, go listen to James Brown, or Green Day. All nine songs are over five minutes long and the title track as well as To Live Is To Die clock in at just under ten minutes. Indeed, sometimes you become impatient and irritated waiting for the song to develop, evolve, peak and end, only to have an even longer song proceed. . The length album is one hour and five minutes, so people will have trouble listening listen to the whole album in one sitting. When I think of metal, I think of And Justice For All. It is music for metal heads performed by metal heads. This album is necessary for any comprehensive metal or even rock collection. From the exotic and poignant acoustic guitar intro to To Live Is To Die, to the spellbinding solo of and Dyers Eve, this album is pure brilliance and one of the most massive albums ever conceived an recorded.

Summary: Sounds Great
Review: Compared with its predecessor, Master of Puppets, ...And Justice For All sounds super. The drums are clearer, and so is Hetfield's voice, growling at what was perhaps the height of his vocalistic rage.

This album is a very angry one. It cries out-- fittingly-- against injustice, and like Master and Ride The Lightning before it, it continues on the same basic theme throughout. It is one of their darker albums, and it will most likely hurt mainstream ears, but it is a wonderful compilation of complex metal songs. "One" is probably one of their best songs ever. Among their greatest.

Summary: The Last Album that Metallica was "Metallica"
Review: ...And Justice for All along with Master of Puppets sums up what Metallica was: an angry speed Metal Band. It makes me sick that Metallica is more popular now than ever. Their music lacks the edge that their first five albums had(yes, I'm including gargage days). I gave up on Metallica after the first Load album. It's not that they are not a great band because they are. They just don't make the kind of music that I want to hear when I say to myself, " I want to hear some Metallica". The Black Album was the beginning of the end for me. Maybe I'm the freak.......this was their "breakthrough" album. Whatever. The true fans know what I'm talking about. And Justice For All: tough stuff. If you like Load and Reload etc, you might not care for this album because it's not radio friendly.

Summary: Another Metallica masterpeice!
Review: Another good addition to the Metallica Library. Powerful guitar, and great lead guitar work. (Not as good as Kill 'em All), but definately great guitar work. Their darkest, angriest album, it spews out lyrics of Justice, corruption, and suicide (Dyer's Eve). My personal favourite lyrics for all Metallica albums so far, and Hetfields crunching vocals mixed with guitar makes for great Hard Rock/Metal music. Another must buy! SO close to perfect, but worth every penny! Chech out the monster hit ONE, BLACKENED, and the title track!

Summary: changed my life
Review: yea everyone knows that this cd is great. but it is not just great. This is the greatest cd ever, and i dont think there will be a cd made that will be better than this one, ever! yea so it has bad production and there is a lack of bass, but who cares? This cd is so awesome I listen to it everyday and I don't think I will ever get sick of it. Let me tell you, Ive heard so much music in my life and the best song out there is One. it is just so powerful, it's undescribable. Other songs on here like Blackened and harvester of sorrow are just plain excellent too. If you dont own this cd, this should be the next cd you should buy, trust me, you won't be disapionted!

Summary: sweet realization
Review: Back in '88, I was lost in a sea of Great White, Bon Jovi, and Warrant cassettes. I decided to give this a try, and for some reason the other tapes instantly turned to dust!

This release gave me a hard kick to the a$$ and made me realize that there is hope in the world, or something like that.

Summary: The best of the best
Review: After getting interested in Metallica when i was 9.. I got a hold of the and justice for all cassette and since then i feel i am one of the biggest metallica fans of them all. this metal thrashing head banging masterpiece is by far their best and in my opinoin the greatest cd of all time.. number 2 trailing behind being Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon... anyone who is remotely interested in Metallica will love this cd.. and although people give it a bad rap for being poorly mixed.. it is much better than the overproduction given to them by bob rock.. This is a must have for any metal fan... the one true album that speaks to me.. with songs such as one and blackened.. but a symphonic song where the bands true talent all mix together in the beautiful song To Live Is To Die.. as a dedication to Cliff Burton who wrote the lyrics.. This cd is an awesome cd and anyone who thinks otherwise may have serious brain damage..
