Rating: Summary: Metallica's best written album of all! Review: Though poor production will always hamper this album's greatness until something is done, I still gave it 5 stars because of the fantastic writing, the spectaular solos from the master, Kirk Hammet, and its ability to remain enthralling though the songs average more than 7 minutes long. This is definately the band's most political album and therefore one of the most intriguing, lyrically. The songs all sound great as well. If I had to list the top songs from this album, they would probably be "Eye of the Beholder", "One"(one of the best songs ever), "Harvester of Sorrow", and "Dyer's Eve"(very relevant for many teenagers). All the songs are amazing though, and none are "throw-aways". Even if you are dissapointed by the production it is still a landmark CD that belongs in anyone's collection
Rating: Summary: One is the best song Metallica has ever made. Review: One is the greatest song I have ever heard. I love it's slow deprssing tune at the beginning and then all of the sudden it gets heavier. Blackened and And Justice for All are wicked tunes. Best CD these guys have ever made.
Rating: Summary: BRUTAL!!!! Review: This is without doubt Metallica's best album. It's raw, agressive, powerful and plain brutal. The riffs are all excellent, especially "Eye of the Beholder" which I think is the best song. Blackened's intro is really awesome also. All the other songs are incredible: "And Justice for All" is epic, "One" was done to be played and listened to live, "Shortest Straw" is fast and powerful, and the guitars are merely astounding in "To Live is to Die". I think this album is one of Lars' best as drummer, he's so fast and accurate it's impressive. Maybe this and "Master of Puppets" are tied as Metallica's greatest albums and metal's best albums ever. This is the closest Metallica ever came to be like Pantera.
Rating: Summary: Highly overrated Review: This isn't one of Metallica's better discs... when Cliff Burton died after they produced the magnificent "Master of Puppets", their prog-rock leanings became pronounced to the point of self-parody. I've got nothing against prog-rock, but the songs on Justice are dispersed, ineffective, repetitive, and directionless. Also, the production is incredibly shoddy; Jason Newsted's bass is completely inaudible, providing a lack of harmony and coherency. Only for die-hard fans.
Rating: Summary: don't like the poor production, then please read this. Review: I personally feel this is one of metallica's best albums. I have read the reviews and have noticed people complaining about the poor production. I have one solution to solve this problem. ENCOURAGE METALLICA TO GO BACK IN THE STUDIO AND RE-RECORD AND JUSTICE FOR ALL! If they do do it I hope they do not make it sound like it is from load or re-load. They should use the same guitars and drums used in 1988 except Jason should play bass and the band should use high quality recording equipment. Just imagine what the new recording would sound like if they redid it. I know the band would not feel good about playing "to live is to die" again because it reminds them about cliff's death. So if you don't like the way justice sounds then encourage metallica to go re-record and justice for all or have them digitally remaster it.
Rating: Summary: It aint Master of Puppets, But... Review: Metallica's golden age lasted from _Ride the Lightning_ to _Master of Puppets_. Conceptually united and mature, these albums display analyzations of death, power, and corruption, respectively. Whilst _Master of Puppets_ is their best, and one of the greatest compositions of the twentieth century (up there with Rachmaninov's 3rd Concerto and the _Dark Side of the Moon_), the other two albums of this era are exceedingly good as well. The best song on this album, is, without doubt, "Eye of the Beholder." To the casual listener and dillatante Metallica fan, "One" frequents the fav's, but, like "Damage, Inc." off of _Master_, it just doesn't match up to the likes of "Sanatarium". For anybody who appreciates real music and intelligent lyrics, Metallica and Pink Floyd are the way to go. If you want another 3-minute top-ten pop whore, go buy Barenaked Ladies or Blink 182.
Rating: Summary: an awesome, very intricate album Review: this album rules! although it is partially true that the lack of bass makes the album sound almost incomplete, the intricacy of the songs make up for it. the harmonized guitar intro to "blackened" (which does have some cool bass in it) is one metallica's finest moments. the variant time signatures and amazing riffery and layered guitar, as well as just plain great songwriting make this album a favorite
Rating: Summary: Good songs, poor production. Review: The riffs are massive, the musicianship and timing are high quality, but what happened to the production????? The bass is unclear, the guitars sound tinny, and the drums sound like they were recorded in my kitchen. This is the only complaint I have with the album as the songs themselves are very cleverly written with many surprises along the way.
Rating: Summary: THE MOST AMAZING MUSIC OF THE MILLENIUM!! Review: THIS IS THE BEST ALBUM THAT I HAVE EVER HEARD! METALICA HAS A WAS OF COMBINING R E A L MUSIC WITH MIND BLOWING LYRICS AND THE FINAL RESULT IS LIKE AN OPERA!! (EXCEPT YOU WONT FALL ASLEEP) DEFINATLY DESEARVS MUCH RESPECT, THEY BROUGHT BACK REAL MUSIC , NOT SCREAMING !
Rating: Summary: Metallica's most musically inspired album Review: This album shows you why Metallica belongs among the great bands of all time. Even without commerical hype or MTV reviews shows that Metallica is a great band. Many "harder" albums need lots of comerical air time or video play for it to be a success. Metallica by this time (1988) had a "cult" of fans by playing live. This shows how many people heard and went to their shows before any commerical crap. Oh yeah "One" is one of the best songs of all time
