Rating: Summary: The best metal album EVER. Review: There is no comparison to this album. All the songs are quick, powerful, and exact. The subject matter is both thought provoking (One, Blackend) and outrageous (Harvester of Sorrow, Shortest Straw). Even classical musicians have agreed with me that this album is technically interesting and complex while still remaining true to the rowdy garage days.
Rating: Summary: And Justice For All-Cure For Insomia? Review: It may sound crazy considering the hardness and the speed of the music on this album. I love this album, don't misunderstand, but for ten years I have used it when I can not sleep. There is something about the rhythm and speed that is very soothing. It has almost the opposite effect of what I would expect. If you have trouble sleeping why not give it a try!
Rating: Summary: Their best, despite less-than-polished production Review: If you have bought Metallica's black album, and you are looking for something more "historical," this is the way to go. Although the production is noticeably less sophisticated, it is tolerable, simply because the songs are so darn good! Intelligent lyrics, amazingly complex song structure, this album never ceases to surprise. Some highlights: "One," "Frayed Ends of Sanity," and the title track. Buy it now...enjoy!
Rating: Summary: They've done it again. Review: They'll never stop, They'll never quit is what comes to mind when seeing the fourth album. Some of the last songs could have been better in their second effort with Jason "The New Kid" Newstead, but other than that it was a great album.
Rating: Summary: Metallica's most powerful album Review: Despite muddier recording than more recent Metallica albums such as 1991's Metallica and the Load/Reload set, And Justice for all is a classic Metallica album. James Hetfield's lyrics are at their best; and the tortured vocals of song's like "One" and "Dyer's Eve" are a classic standard for metal vocalists. There is perfect rhythm between Jason Newsted's throbbing bass and Lars Ulrich's speed metal double bass drum rhythms and Kirk Hammet's solos are at warp speed. This is the band's fastest, but in a way also most emotional outing. One glance at the lyric sheets indicates that Hetfield's vocals are at their best and give deeper descriptions of feeling and tell more of a story than previous albums like Kill 'em all or Master of Puppets. The most lyrically profound song, however is "To live is to die" which was penned by former bass-beater Cliff Burton who died in a tragic bus accident in 1986. At 65 minutes for 9 songs and with "To live is to die" and the title track clocking in at over 9 minutes, ...And Justice for All may be hard to get through for a first-time listener. Amazingly though none of the time seems wasted like on 1996's Load (14 songs in 79 minutes)which seems dull and frivolous at times, but with guitar solos and double kicks that are constantly changing few will be tempted to turn it off. While ...And Justice for all is often ignored as a classic Metallica album because it came between 2 other excellent albums, 1986's Master of Puppets and 1991's Metallica ("The black album") and is not compact and to the point like 1983's Kill 'em all and 1984's Ride the Lightning it is still a definite must-have for heavy metal fans everywhere.
Rating: Summary: True Excellence!!!!!!!!! Review: I believe this album to be Metallica's finest. Every song is a great, One being their best song of all time. This was the first album that I ever bought, at seven years old, and I'm proud to say that. The guitar solos are unforgettable. Jason Newsted does a fine job standing in for the late, great Cliff Burton, even though that there will never be another Cliff Burton. I strongly recommend getting this album to anyone.
Rating: Summary: Contemplating buying this CD? Read my review. Or just buy it Review: If someone says they don't like 'Tallica, stick this album in their un-informed, judgmental little faces. Even though I was only 7 when the record came out (at the time when I was watching Ninja Turtles and wore Underoos), and most people say I am "too young to aprechiate old school metal", this has been my favorite album since I bought it 4 years ago. Once you know what the song "One" is about (a man goes off to war, steps on a land mine, and comes back a human vegetable), it really gets to your soft side (no matter how small your soft side is). "Blackened", a seemingly dark and scary song on the outside, turns out to be a song concerning the "death of mother earth", and why we can't afford to take any more chances with our human existence. I am not just gonna say that it is the greatest album of all time, I am going to promise you, 'I promise', that even if you are a Nirvana fan or just returned from the depths of gangsta rap, this album will make you re-think what you previously thought about metal albums. :ALSO: The cover sheet booklet contains the full lirics as well as some great oridinal artwork (including my favorite, the hammer of justice with the band's faces in it). All in all why wouldn't you drop 13 bucks for a truly great, oridnal CD?
Rating: Summary: Outstanding Album Review: This Metallica album has songs where they're either soft or hard. Sometimes they start out soft then hard like the song "one." Overall, this album is a super one to listen to all day long. My favorite songs in this album is Eye of the beholder, One, Harvester of sorrow, and They frayed ends of sanity.
Rating: Summary: BY FAR the best Effort EVER put forth by Metallica Review: Although the Bass is not heard as much as it should be and the recording is'nt the greatest, the song writing and guitar wizardry make this the BEST Metallica album of all time, and it gets my vote for the best CD of all time by any artist!!
Rating: Summary: Metallica's Best Album Review: This is Metallica's BEST album, bar none. Blackened, ...And Justice For All, Eye Of The Beholder, One, and To Live Is To Die are all some of Metallica's greatest! The guitar solos are great, the acoustic guitar parts are near genius, the lyrics are outright and just tell you what the heck is wrong with us! Don't get me wrong, this is not pro-death at all, this is telling us NOT to be so destructive to earth... TO OURSELVES!
